Such a charming gentleman ,impeccable manners .He listens to the questions , answers thoughtfully and throws in plenty of self effacing humour .A great interview ,pity it is such a lost art these days.
I disagree. He was a dastardly obtuse character of high immorality and a temperate disposition. This interview was horrendously executed with flaws at every given interpretation. However, I digress. Good day Sir.
when i was a kid in England i always had Vincent Price on top of my list of favourite Horror Actors. He's just so damn interesting. And his voice is amazing.
He speaks with a sort of casual intelligence about art. This is not something one can fabricate. When you are very well acquainted with a subject you can talk with verve, precision and genuine insights. He displays no affectation, pomposity or pretentious attitudes to art. He is is at ease with himself good humoured and would be a superb dinner companion.
Me too!! Love, appreciate, respect unlike any other!! I Soo miss him Lee and Cushing! Endearing, highly educated, compassionate men! Price and I have interests in common. You accomplished much; what a great run! We are poorer will out you!!! RIP Sir!!!!!!
"Art is nothing more than the visual report of the time in which it's done." Such a brilliant insight so elegantly phrased. If PBS had elected to do an art documentary show (even a miniseries) about art with Price as the host, people would still be watching it today, like they watch Bob Ross paint
So cozy interview) like they somewhere in home... It's amazing everytime for me how Vincent always looked younger his actual age... Here's he 63 but look's like 53 😄 It's extraordinary how he's always alive and calm, and truly interested in everything he talks about and just authentic man with so deep insightful eyes... Yeah, wish were more man like him in the world...
I found out Vincent Price with Corman's movies when I was a young kid and I immediately loved him and those kind of movies, but just now, by watching these old interviews I realise that he's one of the very few celebrities that make me wanna be a close friend of his.
Auw, bless this beautiful angel, lovely wonderful Vincent price, what's a lovely person he was, not to mention a brilliant outstanding actor.😊 We all miss and love you Vincent price, the world is not the same with out you in it. Much love to you from me, 💗💗💗 rest in peace lovely man. ❤
His interviews are always funny and fascinating. I hope someone posts the talk show appearance where he got into an argument with Fredric Wertham about horror movies. I did not know he no formal acting training! He was such a natural at it. Great at serious and comedy roles. His voice is so good for drama and humor.
to me, he will always be the prosecutor of the emperor, in the wonderful film Song of Bernadette with Jennifer Jones of 1943. I love him, I hope he is in heaven !
Total class act. I worked as a studio singer for 40 years, 6 of those being on the Red Skelton Show. One time when Vincent Price was the featured guest, I took my copy of A Treasury of Great Recipes for him to autograph and he was most gracious. He write Fir Diana, Love, Luck and Bob Appetit! Mary and Vincent Price. I absolutely cherish that!
To echo what others have already written Vincent Prince is a remarkably articulate, accomplished and charming man. Though I knew he was an art collector I did not know he was educated at Yale University and the Courtauld Institute in London. James Day's inteviewing style, asking broad questions and giving his guest the latitude to answer them. is just how an interview should be done.
Got to be the 1st time I've ever seen him smoke. I never knew he did..he almost chained smoke, classily of course. Such a handsome, higly educated, talented, rascally gentleman...don't even get me started on the voice! This calibre of a man does not exists anymore.
I got introduced to Vincent Price through the creature double feature on TV38 WSBK in Boston. And what a wonderful actor. Who brought Edgar Allen Poe's work out. His movies are more mystery than horror. And friends with some great guys. Like Alice Cooper and Deep Purple. And now my grandkids are loving his work.
He was such a learned man. A creative and quite the visionary. He knew Shakespeare and one of his closest friends was Sir Christopher Lee who portrayed Dracula. Yes he was bisexual but that's irrelevant about him as an individual as a whole. He was quite the gentleman very well spoken and great articulation. Miss you Vincent.
I have a crush on him now and he is no longer here! His acting and his personality are just unbelievable! I have so much respect for him! I just love his movies! He was a true gentleman!
I'm 32. Growing up in the 1990s I fell in love with old horror films from the 50s, 60s and 70s and loved Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Donald Pleasence
Probably both, my eyes are considered blue but most days look gray. Which is funny because he is my great great great uncle and share a lot of the same interests and traits. I didn't know it until I read this comment that we had/have the same color eyes. I don't see a lot of ppl with gray eyes like mine/ours lol
A scholar and a gentleman. For us here in crusty ol' Europe it always makes us chuckle to ourselves when we see our American cousins debating about Mr Price's "trans-Atlantic" accent. To put it as politely as possible... Vincent was one of the few AMERICAN actors who could actually speak the English Language correctly. Add to that a talented artist, a sophisticated locutor and a critical thinker based in a strong historical background... Well, what do you get?... Something you feel you have to call "trans-Atlantic" because it is so foreign to the standard US education. Vincent very much had the British approach to performing on stage... from the outside in. A smart man. It is a shame that half of the US think that being "intellectual" equates to being weak or unmasculine. Those gun-toting ignorami should consider the fact that the US, as it stands, only stands thanks to its great thinkers.
Well said. His accent was unusual but sounded natural, unlike the odd sounding Gor Vidal who sounded as if he was affecting a British type accent it sounded phoney.
I have to take exception to your pidgeon-holing of the Americaan mentality and attitude towards intellectualism. We are all not knuckle-draggers just as Europeans are all not peasants. Cheers
Vincent married Australian actress Coral Browne this year, 1974, after a whirlwind romance. They met and fell in love on the movie 'Theatre of Blood' . VP had been married to his second wife Mary for 24 years, and was 62 years old when he fell for Coral, and she was 60 years old and followed him to America. His divorce was inevitable, it was a coup de foudre. The tall, stylish and famously witty couple were a regular feature on Hollywood red carpets. They were happily married until her death from breast cancer in 1991, aged 77 (she died two days after Vincent's 80th birthday). Vincent died 2 years later, in 1993, aged 82. By all accounts they were a wonderful couple, and counted among their large, eclectic group of friends English playwright Alan Bennett, Joan Rivers, Jane Russell and Barry Humphries.
You just don't see people like Vincent Price anymore. Very nice interview.
Amen
Faaaaalse. I saw some earlier today. You must abandon retreat at least once in a great while kind Sir.

You are just a Generic, who could never appreciate what he was. DA.

James Day asked some really good and insightful questions. Interviewing skills is a lost "art" itself these days.
I disagree. He was a dastardly obtuse character of high immorality and a temperate disposition. This interview was horrendously executed with flaws at every given interpretation. However, I digress. Good day Sir.
@@ReginaldForman obtuse ? He studied at Yale
@@ReginaldForman you are either a troll or willfully delusional. Either way- you have no clue what you’re talking about in the slight st.

A well spoken, highly educated actor. Not exactly commonplace these days!
Vincent was a gem. A classic gentleman, great body of work, and obviously a sly sense of humor. I would've liked to have broken bread with him.
He always was a charming and talented fellow.
Vincent Price is a national treasure.

One of my favourite people ever! I grew up watching and loving his movies so much. Such an erudite, charming, intelligent gentleman.

There will never be another like Vincent Price! Great interview ❤
A true original 🌹
I love Vincent Price for his sense of humor most of all. He always makes me laugh no matter what hes in.
I love his dark comedy. Especially when Peter Lory was involved. Pardon my spelling. I'm over fifty and struggling with spell check.:)
Absolutely a one of kind actor.
I just love him.😊
One of my favourite actors. Unique and a one off👌
OMG he was so gorgeous!
A life lived to the fullest Mr. Price!!! You are FOREVER LOVED and RESPECTED!!! Thank you for your gifts to us all!! RIP Sir!! ❤️
He had SUCH a GREAT Sense of Humor and a GREAT Laugh! A TRUE Treasure!
He listens so critically… the minute the interviewer starts talking he’s all ears. Even while mid sentence.
Nice to know that he really did have such a deep voice!!!!
One of my favorite actors in the horror genre. All time great!

Always a pleasure.
What a joy, and jovial great person Sir Vincent Sir is, yay! He keeps us happy, Class. What a joyous guy😊👍🔒🔐
Oh, thank you for this wonderful insight into a wholly erudite, charming human being. Magnificent.
One of a kind, Price was a true renaissance man. I grew up on his horror films and have loved his work ever since.
He seems like a guy I would like to have tea with and chat about art and drama. R.I.P.
Very interesting interview. A new side of Price. Loved it.
This is priceless, no joke.
Such a classy and handsome man. I have always admired Mr. Vincent Price.
The great Vincent Price.
One of the reasons why I still want to do professional acting and why I wrote poetry; and short stories. His work was unmatched.
Vincent Price was Classy man and a great actor. ☺️🙌
An amazing actor and a true gentleman. I was lucky enough to have met him when he was on a lecture tour 40 years ago.
Fascinating, really is.

PERFECT.
As a child, this man’s pure presence could scare the hell outta me. And yet, he’s nothing like he is in his movies.
crazy but I sorta crushed on him as a little girl in the 90's
I crushed on Vincent Price too, from late 1973 to mid-1978, when I was in my 20s.
It was the movie Dragonwyck, My mother was a big fan and I guess I learned from her, I was in my teen years. He was awesome.
I still have a crush on him.
Everytime I hear his voice there is a tingling in my stomach. It started when I first heard him talk long time ago and it never stopped to happen.
I have a crush on him now and he is no longer here! His acting and his personality are just unbelievable! I have so much respect for him! I just love his movies! He was a true gentleman!
A true Renaissance Man. V classy individual.
Vincent Price's daughter said her father bought a Jackson Pollock for 50 dollars. He purchased work from many great artists, early in their careers.

What is the actual color of Vincent Price's eyes? They look blue in some shows, gray in others.
