It's a crushing truth that you said it sours my mind to think that I wish we start appreciating ourselves more and not look to the west for validation.
Well idk I’ve never felt that way or have ever been self hating; in fact I’ve always been proud of the rich cultural/religious/spiritual and moral strength and heritage of this land. But what I don’t agree with is that in the name of modernization and economic growth, this land is slowly throwing away all of that beautiful heritage of older pre-2000s India- I mean even relationships between men and women used to be such a sacred thing- “casual” dating was always looked upon critically and even if 2 people loved each other they would respect the sanctity of marriage and honour the vows of it; I remember back in those days if any guy made even any remotely vulgar comment to a lady (which here in the West has until now unfortunately been regarded as acceptable and commonplace “joking” only now being tackled with the “me too” movement) ppl, especially in villages, would come together and beat that guy up with sticks just for mentioning anything vulgar, so never mind tight yoga pants/ low rise jeans/chest cleavage you see nowadays- at that time that type of clothing would’ve been impossible for ppl (including women) to accept. Elders were treated with respect, drugs/smoking and even alcohol were frowned upon, hell even eating meat was frowned upon, religions were full of devotion, there was always an attitude of self sacrifice to help another etc. etc., so why the hell would you, in the name of “progress” throw away whatever good things you had?? Real progress would be: yes growing economically while still maintaining those sacred traditions and ways of life- but now we see those beautiful things have eroded way- much thanks to Bollywood and a lot of the film industry brainwashing ppl to view those traditions as outdated and “uncool” and to replace them with moral degradation.
If you look at big boss- man, the stuff you see on that show if they aired this back anywhere from the 60s to the 90s and even early 00s, I can guarantee you parents would’ve disowned the contestants on the show and perhaps even murder (literally) them, as well as the producers of that show, especially with the coed sleeping, so you see how insidiously they’re making it acceptable and no big deal to society at large?, but those corrupt b#$t##*s who create this content could care less and just wanna fill their own pockets, and they seem to further push these limits each year- now I’ve heard plenty of evil global conspiracy theories about influencing countries of the world towards evil and what not and most of it is all b.s. but it makes you wonder about whether somethings going on, doesn’t it? And I’ve seen the same pattern here- like remember the timberlake Jackson chest exposure in Super Bowl ‘04? so it seems to be a pervasive deliberate global push towards what we might consider immoral, “evil”, taboo or shocking..but we must careful of ppl who take these things too far- like the fools who created the whole Beyoncé concert reptilian facial morphing fairytale story- it’s just too extreme in my opinion and made either for sensationalism and to sell tabloids, or just a product of the mental delusions of idiots when the simple explanation would just be: bad lighting, and taking a photo whilst she was moving creating blurring- and hence the illusion of black eyes and sharp teeth, that’s all, I mean come on ppl😒, I’ve had schoolteachers who looked worse...
Anyways, the rich cultural heritage should be preserved whilst integrating it with the economic development you see in more western countries to make a perfect balance; though now we’re beginning to see endless recessions in the west as those supersaturated economies are slowing down now and the growth is shifting to the east; though right now of course this damn virus has screwed over the global economy...
Now am I judging drinking smoking or alcohol, eating meat or clothing fashion?? No, I’m just saying that ppl there used to have a strict moral code of ethics (that may have been taken too far in some directions) but that they basically believed in a purity of human relations- be that male-female relations, family-relative relations etc., and also spiritual devotion, and self sacrificing attitude for the greater whole which now are being replaced with their total opposites, and it’s sad to see, and that’s all I wanna say...

I'm here in London and locked down and feeling angry with the politicians, then I see the the suffering in the past few days of the indians , africans that are going to have a very hard time with this pandemic over the next few months once this virus takes hold in there countries. Let's hope that this is a lesson for mankind and in the future will bring us closer to help one another to eradicate selflessness, racision, and poverty. I am erternernaly grateful for the Indian surgeon that saved my life last year here in London.

Also, their country is situated in the "Pacific Ring of Fire" due to which they need to be ready for any kind of disaster, at any given time. So, to some extent, other than their culture, their geographic location is also one of the reasons why they recover so fast from a disaster
