the role of media in stereotyping is really outstanding.
I asked the BBC why are there no Indian male football presenters? They said there are no Indiand football players, so I asked them why have they got 3 Indian female presnters for football? They then said becuase they are under represented! I then asked why are Indian males always shown as the guy in a Turban running a corner shop? They said this is because we like to represent them in the true way. I said then why are black people shown as doctors, consultants, solicitors, and not as criminals? They then said because we do not like to stereotype people. I then said to the BBC well clearly you are anti male, anti Hindu, anti Sikh and anti male. I will not pay the TV licence fee!

People used to look up to India in the ancient times. Foreigners used to study in Nalanda university. I remember ancient Chinese called India “civilized” and “center of knowledge”. Scientists and mathematicians of the islamic golden age admired our work. Greeks and Romans also used to look up to us. Good old times. Anglo-Saxons and other Westerners are the reason that South Asians face discrimination worldwide. They ruined our image by portraying us as animal f*ckers, street sh*tters, unhygienic (India needs to work on hygiene, I admit, but man often it is over exaggerated), savages, r*pists, cannibals, etc. West butchered our reputation. We think South Asians face discrimination because of skin color, but that is not the case. When you are brown, people think you are from South Asia, and South Asia has a bad image. Many Italians and Middle Easterners have light brown to medium olive bronze tone. But, they don't face discrimination. It's all about image. Even light skin Indians face discrimination. Just tell them you are Indian and attitude changes.
