I like how you say use a block when putting the new bushing in at 7:30. Then the next clip at 7:50, you change adapters 2 different times not explaining you have to have clearance for the sleeve since it sticks out further.

I got it done! My bushings were completely trashed. I didn't have to take the brackets off, but the passenger side bolt will not come out because the gas tank is too close. I cut the bolt, and reinstalled a new one from the outside. This was possible maybe only due to rust rotting out part or the sheet metal so it actually had clearance to be installed from the outside.
I didn't need the recip saw, I used the air chisel exclusively. Ball joint press wasa must. Clean those IDs up on the brackets with a die grinder and flap wheels. Grease before installing! They took a lot of force.

Excellent video, I haven't installed mine yet but this gave me a lot more confidence now since I already have all the tools to do it!

so why does the bushing bracket need to come out ? far as I can tell you should be-able to pry on the bushing and it shoul drop out of the bracket eliminating the need to deal with the potental trouble of broken cage nuts and a mis-aliened rear end

Trust in rust, it’s a constant up here in the rust belt. A wire brush on the threads and never seize during reassembly is highly recommended in the great white north! Snow and slush and salt will make this job much harder than this.

I enjoy the fact that they use real cars that were driven on real salted roads and you get to see what it really is going to look like under your car. Go to tear stuff apart and the video is all a brand new car they're working on so you get no tips or tricks for the struggle

Is the rear control arm bushing the same as the trailing arm bushing?

If that beam is bad, would that make the rim go up and down?

So this was done without taking the axle out completely? That's what's up

Ok just did this on my 2008 HHR. I’m my garage with hand tools, no air hammer etc… The ball joint tool from HF will work, but you’ll need a shorter adapter of some sort to be able to press the new bushings in. This job is prob easier on the ground,IMO.

Do these bushings throw off camber and toe. I checked for play and there is some. Trying to see if i could save myself having to change the entire axle. Dealership wants 2200 for the job.
