I thank God I came from a music loving family, from my mother to my great grandmother and everyone in between.

Used to hang out on Monday nights at a blues club in Chicago called The Kingston Mines. It was an open jam. You never knew who was going to show up. Koko Taylor, Jimmy Johnson, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, Sugar Blue, Willie Dixon, Buddy Guy, James Cotton all ended up there through the years. It was an amazing place. Virtually the whole audience was musicians. The stage was always rotating players, so the music never stopped. The place had a 4 AM liquor license...'nuff said.. lol
God damn I'm so happy to see all these legends on stage... especially Dixon! The guy is blues royalty been around forever and is one the best blues writers and bass player.
They have a unique style which makes everyone love them. Their wailing and screams are natural. You can feel the pain they been through over the years.
All were great especially Willie Dixon who wrote so many great blues songs. But Albert King. What a bluesman. What a guitarist. What an entertainer. What a gentleman. Many musicians over the years have lauded BB and rightly so but it was Alberts licks they copied the most.
I saw Dr. John in 1988. He opened for Johnny Winter. Just him and his piano. Then he played during Johnny Winters set. This was in Stuttgart Germany. I flipped out when his song Right Place Wrong Time was a hit back in 1973!! Great song!!

He saved the whole song - if you listen, BB comes in a few beats early with his vocal, which causes Albert to do the same, so your cousin just keeps to the root note instead of playing a walking bass line, and moves the song up to the next chord in line with Albert's vocal so it all slots back in time. Can you let him know someone noticed it, it was a good job well done!

I've met some of them, including one who became a friend and taught me a lot about the performers, the record business, and he taught one of thes people himself, how to play guitar correctly-- Mr. Robert Lockwood Jr. There are some good players out there today--you just gotta' find 'em !!
