Woohoo, there's a second season!! 🥳 I love the subtle (and sometimes even not so subtle) differences between black inks. Aurora has a few other inks besides black, blue-black and blue - I like their sepia brown one. Aurora Black has become my go-to black. That Octopus Black Elephant looks very cool! And I think your pronunciation of "Het Zwarte Pad" was pretty good! Although both a's are actually pronounced the way you pronounced the first one. In case you were wondering, the name means "The Black Path". Really looking forward to the rest of the series!
I am SOO excited you are doing a second season!! I love everyone's ink swatching videos, but there are always so many more that get overlooked, whether OGs or new releases. It would probably make it too long a video for some folks (not for me!) but it would also be interesting if - at the end of the discussion of the dried inks - you compared them to your first round of ink swatches. Can't wait to see all of your new vids!
Continuing! 🎉🎉🎉 yay. I love this series. 🖤🫶🏽🖤 omg, the panda stickers! R & K Solferino is one of my fav inks. Loving this vid. I don’t own a bottle of black ink, only cartridges thus far.
Hahaha, as far as what I have read it IS water resistant! I haven't tried the Platinum Chou Kuro (the price honestly overwhelms me) so I can't compare, but the Octopus ink is VERY dark and solid all the way through!
The Octopus Fluids Write and draw inks have great water resistance after they are dry. They have a huge color range. My favorites are violet bee, petrol axolotl, and petrol buffalo. Thanks for the video!
I use Rohrer & Klingner's Sketch Ink black as my regular black ink and love it!! I got it at Jet Pens. It's a true black, smooth, wet, and simply perfect. It's my favorite black (and I've tried quite a few of them). Of course, it's completely waterproof, too, and inexpensive. I highly recommend it.
Aurora has a line of in their anniversary series, similar to Midori, with sepia, green, orange, purple, and red. Their regular inks were sadly reduced to those 3 you mentioned. Thanks for introducing me to Octopus' Black Elephant, might add it to my collection of black inks.
German here, your "Leipziger Schwarz" was almost perfect, especially the Leipziger was spot on 🙂 Btw, "Schwarz" means black, so i smiled at "Leipziger Schwarz-black" ;-)
I am SO happy to see season 2. Got my chair & my beverage & my snacks 🙂I think the monteverde one is my favourite, they are nice inks ? I don't have any of theirs yet. I love the Diamine astral with the green & gold shimmer. thank you 💚
Who knew there were so many black inks… this is amazing!!! Thank you Danielle. If you are interested in some samples, I’d be more than happy to donate some inks to your cause. I love these swatchings so much ❤
@DebraDarkandTwisty Thank you!! I do love the Monteverde inks, I have a few bottles from them and LOTS of samples. I find that they flow really well and behave great. I haven't tried their color changing ones yet though.
@deniseplasse5126 Thank you!! I would be happy to swap some samples! You can email me or send me a message on instagram if that is easier. I am still working on my fountain pen companion page but I do have all my bottles listed. :)
I've never used the standard octopus fluids inks but I have 2 of the neons. They feel sticky to me almost and I noticed the inks dry glossy where there's been more ink deposited which is very interesting. I'm surprised by how dark flat black it is. I might have to grab a sample of that one and compare it to the others I've got (Noodler's Heart of Darkness and Graf Von Faber-Castell Carbon Black).
I haven't had the chance to write very much with it yet, but it may be "thicker" due to the amount of saturation in the ink. If you compare it I would love the feedback!
Thank you for Season 2! Great presentation always. Even though i have already watched all colors of Season 1, it would be more helpful to include a snippet of Season 1 in Season 2 videos, like you did in Gray :)
Glad you like them! I hope to do "references" to season 1 in the future videos :) I don't think there is a way for me to edit the black on to include it without totally deleting the original video sadly.
Obsidian from Lamy's Crystal series is way better than the plain Lamy Black. It's dark and had a really nice sheen. It's my favorite black with character.
I'm so happy to see a season 2! I've added a few of these to my Goulet cart, since they have 25% off dip pens until midnight tonight. Do you have any suggestions for a good, fairly inexpensive dip pen? I have a glass one but I'm kind of scared to use it. I'm interested in the one you're using, but it's a bit pricey for me at the moment to get both the nib and holder. I was looking at the Pilot Iro-Utsushi or Sailor Horoco. Have you tried these?
Thank you Aubrey!! Great idea to use that Goulet Sale! I would say for an inexpensive dip pen the Sailor Horoco has been great. It is nice that you could change the nib out on it as well! Plus they are very easy to store.
I have the R+K sketch ink in two colours, inuding the black, and I have not been able to use the black one because it's just too wet, it makes my fine travellers company pen write like a broad and it leaks into the cap! I have never had an issue like that with that pen so I find it interesting. The other sketch ink I have displays all the same properties as the black, but writes beautifully. I do need to try the black sketch ink in another pen to see what happens, but it's reall very wet. I could send you a sample if you would like, I would love to see what your experience is. I find it difficult to find reviews of the sketch ink for non artistic use, and the written reviews are all very positive, so yea, very interested to see what your experience would be.. or if anyone reading this has tried it, what do you think? Do you find it too wet?
Thank you for sharing your experience with it!! I would be happy to test out a sample, my mailbox is in my TH-cam about :) I draw some with inks but mainly use them for writing :) I hope someone else who has used it can give some more feedback for you!
Thank you so much for the comparison. I'm looking for a waterproof and black-black ink, but til now I hesitated to buy the Octopus fluid one (which is actually very much reasonably priced here in Germany). By the way: you always say "pigmented." To my knowledge, none of these inks are pigmented, aren't they? Platinum Carbon black is and some sailor inks. This is a crucial distinction because it has radical consequences for the maintenance of the pen as you probably know.
Thank you for watching!! When I say "pigmented" I mean the saturation of the color not that it has pigment :) However, I do believe the Octopus Fluids Write and Draw inks are made with pigment and not dye, but I would double check. Usually "waterproof" inks in my experience are pigment based over dye based, but there are hundreds of inks out there so I'm sure there will be something that works for you! I hope you find what you are looking for :)
I recommend Rohrer & Klingner's Sketch ink in black. It's amazing! It also works super well in vintage pens. It's really black, smooth, and just the perfect wetness.
I'm so excited for Season 2 Ink Exploration!! Your swatches are so damn underrated. Not too slow, not too fast, just the right amount of info!!
Thank you so much!

Thank you Ru!! I am 1000% going to be on the hunt for that sepia brown now :)
Woo!! I enjoyed the heck out of this series. I'm glad its back!
Thank you!!

Thanks for your help. Noodlers black is waterproof.
Oh very exciting!!! SEASON TWO!!!! OH YAY! 🎉
always such a joy to watch your ink exploration videos! 😍 So excited that you’re doing season 2! I’m loving those three sheening inks so much!
The Kobe Jet Black is really nice! I think it is my favorite of the three.
Black is my favourite colour 🖤 it's hard to pick a favourite 🙈
It is! There are so many to chose from too!
I'm a huge fan of Black Elephant - I use it daily.
Continuing! 🎉🎉🎉 yay. I love this series. 🖤🫶🏽🖤 omg, the panda stickers! R & K Solferino is one of my fav inks. Loving this vid. I don’t own a bottle of black ink, only cartridges thus far.
More to come! I have Solferino in a pen for this month of March :)
Oh wow! This is great news Liane! I will be watching! Thank you so much for a second season!
Lisa ❤
Yes Danielle good show. Aurora was my 1st black.
DAMN THAT OCTOPUS FLUIDS BLACK ELEPHANT SURPRISED ME A LOOOT !
IS IT WATER RESISTANT? IF SO IT MIGHT BE BETTER THAN PLATINUM CHOU KURO :O
Hahaha, as far as what I have read it IS water resistant! I haven't tried the Platinum Chou Kuro (the price honestly overwhelms me) so I can't compare, but the Octopus ink is VERY dark and solid all the way through!
@@mydandeliondiaries THEN IT BEATS CHOU KURO BECAUSE OF THE PRICE ! DOES IT FEATHER IN COPY PAPER?
It's back! Love it!

Yay!! I love these. I can live vicariously through your ink collection. Your monthly inked are also some of my favorites. Thanks for sharing!
Yay, thank you!
Oh, sooo fun to watch swatches! My ink wishlist is growing looooonger. 🤭❤️👍
Thank you!! Forever having long wishlists ❤️️

Noodlers inks dissapointed me when they feather on Tomoe River paper. I have retired them all

Great recommendation! Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much! I really like the Kaweco and the Robert Oster! Does the Kaweco lean blue? It looks like it on my screen.
Lisa
Yes! The Kaweco has a blueish-purplish lean. It isn't super strong in writing though just the big swatch :)
