Out of these inks I own BPC Cold Steel.. it is stunning. Very dark.. doesn’t shade much in the writing. The Platinum Blue Black looks really great in this vid. Kakitsubata is a purple-black-grey.. it is amazing. I love your swatch vids! Magenta/purple/pink is my vote for next vid.
Love seeing how the colors really develop after drying! I think it’s ok to do this many in one vid instead of splitting into two parts. Like you mentioned, nice to see them all together :)
I love having so many inks to see at once. And the way you have them on the paper is great. I look forward to all the colors again ! Thank you for taking the time to create the videos!
I like that your including so many swatches on one page. Its nice to be able to see them all together. I have accumulated a large collection of samples at this point. I have them in the vial trays like the one we can see in this video, but I find it challenging to search for particular inks in my collection. Id love to hear how your organizing you collection .
I really like the number of inks swatched on a page because it gives a higher chance of seeing certain inks compared. Right now I am loving greens, browns, and red-browns. Greens are my staple so I am looking forward to seeing those. Thank you for your video.
Love the BPC Cold Steel, the Platinum Blue Black, and the J. Herbin Bleu des Profondeurs. I am so excited about your second series of ink swatching! My favorites of all ink swatching videos! Thank you! Lisa
I like swatching a lot of inks because it does give more chance for comparisons, and the page looks cool. The trade-off is the swatches are smaller, so you sometimes end up with just one property revealed, e.g. all sheen. So do them however the mood strikes you! I like that you showed the pages from your original blue black exploration. Even though I wouldn't call myself a blue black fan, I did buy a bottle of "Silent Night" after I painted with it for inkvent 22. "Hamlet" looks lovely. Thanks as always for an enjoyable video.
So happy to watch your ink explorations 😁 I love any number of inks but I have to admit I prefer these long ones with a heap of inks to compare. I think Thunderstorm is my favourite, I am not a real blue fan but I do appreciate a nice ink that resembles it's name 😆(it does look cloud-like) Look forward to the next one. You can probably guess I would choose green, purple & grey in that order but it doesn't matter which you do next. I also enjoy your look at the colours I don't like - I usually find something to like/add 🤩 x
I really like this amount of inks included in a spread. It’s a feast of eye candy for me. However, if you think this amount is overwhelming in a video, feel free to split them in smaller videos! I’d love to see more of the greys in your collection. Grey is my favourite colour family in fountain pen inks for how subtly dynamic they are. Seeing some greens, purples and pink respectively would be fun too!
Somehow, I missed this video when you posted it. I was hoping for a blue-black episode, as this is my favorite/go-to colour, and LAMY’s blue-black is my preferred ink. Now, I’ll need to purchase a few of the inks I like in this video and see how they compare to LAMY’s. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!
I love these videos! I think having many inks on one video is a great way to see the variety and also compare similar colors. I always find something to add to my wishlist (or impulse buy 😂).
Hi! Thank you for this video. I like the long videos and the big overview! - I dumped the Monteverde Zebra in the bin because of that horrible feathering. Haven't seen anything like that before! All my other Monteverde inks are lovely.
I actually almost included it in this video!! I opted for Sailor Ink Studio 940 instead since it was a little more dynamic. But the Sailor Blue Black is fantastic!
I don't find the amount of inks overwhelming, I like being able to compare them this way. Cold Steel and Thunderstorm look awesome, I might have to try those! I have the exact same "problem" with Monteverde Zebra, in that it feathers quite easily. Putting it in a drier writing pen definitely helps, but even then it feathers a bit.
Robert Oster Thunderstorm really looks like a thunderstorm. I should buy at least a sampler of that ink. Platinum Blue Black is my 5th favorite ink right now.
I dunno what your feelings are on iron gall blue blacks, but I really love them, especially Rohrer & Klingner Salix and Akkerman no. 10 Ijzler-galnoten blauw-zwart. One other favorite blue black is Diamine 1864 blue black. Just, you know, if you're looking for others! Awesome video, I'm excited to watch more!
Thank you!! I am always looking for more recommendations and favorites :) I will add those to my wish list. I don't have too much experience with Iron Gall inks but I'm sure I can find some good threads to read up on them.
I would love to see a BPC ink video and also to learn more about how to add these to my collection. I'm reluctant to buy full bottles at 100 ml each but also unsure about how to connect with others to do sample exchanges, etc.
I am hoping to make another BPC ink video soon. I'd be happy to send you some samples myself if you like :) I can understand that 100ml is a lot. You can send me an email and we can chat about it :)
The Kobe 51 Kanocho Midnight IMMEDIATELY went on my ink wishlist; love an unexpected sheen color!! I like the larger number of swatches! I don't know what order you go in, so it's always going to be a surprise to me 😅 Also! It's called a pipette, or some times an eye dropper :)
I love the look of more on the page to do some good comparisons with. Also have you done brown/yellows yet? I'm finding those are the colors I gravitate towards but don't have many and would love to see comparisons on that color scheme. Thanks for sharing!
I've been using Kanocho Midnight in a (surprisingly wet) Sailor MF nib, and I was hoping I'd see some of that green sheen, but I can not get it to show up! I really like the dark teals too - the Van Dieman's Midnight and Monteverde Zebra are both super pretty.
Thank you!! I haven't written with the Kanocho Midnight so I can't speak to how it would look. Maybe a Western Fine or a Japanese Medium would show it?
Great demo and I enjoy your commentary as well! Dark blue and blue-black are my favourite colours outside of the ink world, since I thought most blue black look dull and uninspiring. This video challenged my stance and now I’m appreciating them more. May I ask, where did you get the washi tap for the top and bottom of the spread? It’s very beautiful
Thank you! The washi was from Stickii Club, I think it came in one of their subscriptions 😊 I prefer "green black" or "brown black" over blue black, but sometimes a blue black is perfect for the occasion!
Color comparison is gr8. However, I "need" water resistance. Diamine TWILIGHT, for example, is a fantastic and proper blue-black. Monteverde JADE NIOR is a fantastic and proper green-black. "BEST" I have found to date, color-wise, to be honest. At first and second glance, both LOOK black. (gr8 for sneaking in when the boss wants black ink). Sadly, both have less than zero water resistance, and wash off the paper even days after it was used, when (there is no "if" at any company I worked for) coffee/tea/water/soda is splashed (or spilled) on the document or envelope/shipping label. This also makes them useless for addressing a package or letter (unless you have candle wax to cover the name and address with - which is a P.I.T.A.) since postal delivers when there is precipitation. (BTW; putting in a mail drop box when you cannot get to the PO to mail them does not necessarily keep them dry, either.)
Finding specific colors that are water resistant is challenging. I would try to play around with mixing some of the DeAtramentis Document inks until you get the color you're really after!

Really like that many inks at one time, it's better to compare.

I really like the large spread! Very easy to compare the colors. Thank you!
I'm so glad!
It's great to have all them together!! The more, the merrier

That's a great idea! I hope to share my "craft" room soon (its more of a closet haha) I usually do by color, and then alphabet!

How odd!! I'm glad I said something, it seems to be a common occurrence with the Zebra. All my other monteverdes have no problems as well.
When you like blue blacks, you definitely have to get a hold of some standard Sailor Blue-Black... it is awesome.
I actually almost included it in this video!! I opted for Sailor Ink Studio 940 instead since it was a little more dynamic. But the Sailor Blue Black is fantastic!
