    “Can you say ‘compound word’?”
    “Yeah.”
    “Good! Wait a minute...”

      Haha I know! Almost let that one slip away.

    I adore All About Reading. I CAN teach my child to read and it's not hard. It's actually very interesting.

    Abby! This takes me back to Kindergarten! 😭 So bittersweet! Ugh!!! We use and love All About Reading, too! We had the black and white version though😉😁

      That's what I used with my older two! They always loved coloring the pictures in when we finished the lesson.

    Watching this video, I see so much resemblance between your youngest girl and your kindergarten son. That lesson looks so fun! My kids are both past this stage so maybe my infant can use it one day! HA! He's 9 months.

    We are completing the pre reading level now and level one feels like a huge jump! It’s so intimidating when there are words to read on lesson two 🥴

    this is a great video! thank you for posting it! I was waffling between what AAR and Logic of English! This is more in depth than I thought it was, which is good to know as I will have a kinder, 2nd, and 4th next year!

      Which curriculum did you end up choosing?

    • @melissagarcia4484
      @melissagarcia4484 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried both curriculums? I have Logic of English, but I'm thinking we may give All About Reading a try. If you've tried it, what did you think

    I love AAR too!!! Your Eli reminds me so much of my youngest son ☺️

    • @RootedinRest
      @RootedinRest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If that's true, then you must have as much fun as we do with AAR! So many ways to be silly and yet learn at the same time ;)

      Rooted in Rest yes!!! We really love AAR!! Have you used AAS?? If so, what are your thoughts? I’ve never used a formal spelling curriculum before. My kids have learned through reading I guess haha

    Thank you so much for posting this! I ordered All About Reading Level 1 for my little guy who needs some extra help reading. He's very SLOW to warm up to new ideas - he doesn't take change very well. I showed him this so he could see what a lesson is going to be like and now he's really excited. It will make the transition from what he's doing MUCH easier for him!

    We've used level 1 & about to finish level 2 with our oldest. Now starting pre-reading all about reading with our youngest. Both children love the games and makes learning to read so fun. Love when you share content like this! ❤

      Can't wait to hear what you think about pre-reading!

  • @PlanPrepPray

    I used all about reading with my oldest and it was great but once I had my second the small magnetic tiles and the fact that I had to have other curriculums for other aspects of language arts it just became too tedious. So we have since transition to the good in the beautiful for my second and I love the fact that it’s all inclusive. At the same time I’m a strong believer in doing what works for you so I’m so happy that it worked for you. It wasn’t that the curriculums didn’t work for us it just didn’t work for our family.

    Would you recommend getting the deluxe pack or just sticking with the basic one? It seems like a lot for $ for not much more.

    • @RootedinRest
      @RootedinRest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We’ve never used the deluxe pack, so I couldn’t give you advice other than the regular one has worked well for us!

    I've looked at AAR for at least two years, but get scared away because all the rules. Do you feel all the rules are excessive when it comes to reading? I'm worried my 7yo will hate all the rules.

    Is level 1 for kindergarten or did I miss understand it for 1st grade because “lever 1”.? Lol just curious because I am considering it not my kindergartner.

    Hey Abby, I've been considering switching to a more CM method of homeschool. You mentioned in a comment that you only use AAR 1&2, do you eventually teach the phonics in 3&4? And how do you go about teaching how to write a complete sentence in 1-2nd grades, if you're not teaching them nouns, subjects, etc yet? Are they just doing copy work and seeing sentences that way? I'm trying to figure this out to decide what I'm wanting to do, thank you!

    Do you use all 4 levels with your children?

    • @RootedinRest
      @RootedinRest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Usually 1 and 2 then we switch to SCM Using Language Well and Spelling Wisdom.

    At what point did you son go from sounding out to knowing the words? We're on lesson 10 and my daughter is very quick at sounding the words out, but hasn't memorised them yet.

    I was trying to shop Usborne via your link and could not find the book I was looking for. Is it out of stock? Lift the flap times tables

    I am using this for my older son. He is a struggling reader so it has taken us a while to get through. My daughter starts k this year. We have the pre reader but I am wondering if I can skip that and go straight to level 1? She doesn't know her letters yet but I know they go over that in the pre reader. What is your advice?

    Are the magnet letter titles the same as the all about spelling.?

    Do you always do each of the activities?

    • @RootedinRest

      We do, but we don’t always do a full lesson in one sitting.
