Over the years I’ve found loads of power tools, appliances, vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, etc., etc., as well as all sorts of sizes and lengths of extension cords that were thrown away because the cord had a nick or somehow got cut. I’m happy to repair these items to sell or keep. 🙂
Great job Luke. We have a Dyson wand vacuum cleaner that I have repaired twice now for simple things that others would throw it out for. If I ever see one of these lying around, I'll know what to do with it now.
Just found this channel as I wanted to give my fan a good clean after it got noisy sucking in to much incense. Now I got confidence to do it cheers Luke.
I love to do this also. I found a large LCD TV in the trash.all it needed was a new Power Supply unit, took the back off, found out the specs on the part , went on Amazon and bought one and Viola!
wish there were bins that dysons products in them near my house!!! Was watching Adam Savage testing a HEPA filter PPE hood earlier and when he mentioned something about dyson probably working on a fan for de-fogging I spat my coffee out. Can you imagine? It'd be like a £1,000 price-tag or more if dyson made it. Edit to add: thinking of dyson prices for hairdyers etc totally just reminded me of the Billy Connelly line ".......for a *fecking* carpet?!?!"
The black access panel you removed on the base gave you access to the two screws on the oscillating arm, just turn until they appear, unscrew and the base separates. No need to remove a circlip.
Thank you so much! I have one similar and it was crashed. I decided to try to fix it since I had nothing to lose and thank to your video I DID IT! My fan is back again! YAY! :D
glad im not the only one with a whirring fan. These should be essentially silent most of the way up the speed setting scale. Certainly wouldn't be able to sleep with one in my room
a lot of kit cars were somewhat like that... mechanical parts could be unbolted from a donor vehicle that was MOT failure over perhaps a rotted out body and uneconomical to repair the rust, and bolted onto a replacement fiberglass bodyshell.
i cant find the infrared key codes for it so you could make a useful esp32 or pico plus infrared module for fun to control it but did find this for now. How do I use my Dyson AM09 without a remote? Control without the remote Press the standby button on the appliance to turn ON/OFF. Press and hold the standby button on the appliance to adjust the target temperature. The target temperature will increase to a maximum before decreasing. If the target temperature is set at 0°C it will switch from heating to cool mode.
Thanks so much! I just found a tp02 model left for the trash simply because it’s cord had been cut, but I am wondering what cable were you able to find & use properly on your fan? Thanks!!
......nice, you like the style, . I can see that style too. It would clash with steam punk perhaps .That style is complimented by electrostatic speakers and spherical armchairs hanging from the ceilings and ties in with modern flat panel TVs too . I guess a crass robot vacuum cleaner is permitted also . ..Not surprised at all the viable stuff what you find discarded in Britain. There was an article about it by a British PhD student in New Scientist at least two decades ago .
Hi, Some great information. Was the fan fine when you got the new remote? Just noticed it was loud, but that could have been because it was on high. Mine is loud because it needs new bearings, I was hoping you went over bearing removal in your video. Oh well.
Not sure if "repair" has the same meaning in the US vs England. It seems that you performed maintenance on it, but no repairs. Small difference, but since nothing was broken or damaged, nothing needed repairing. It just didn't work like it should. Like others have said, your confidence is way up. This was one of your best videos.
Even if all he did was replace the plug on the cord, that's a repair. Though I, like several others, am curious if there was anything else broken or if it just needed a good cleaning and replacement remote.
@@mikebond6328 Yeah, he did replace the plug, and that makes it a repair. But he took it apart and performed maintenance on the rest. Sorry for misinterpreting your answer.
might look and see if anyone makes a universal remote. you could try its auto search, or you can even drive a IR led on a phone or arduino to try a few thousand codes.
Nice score Luke 👍 Easy sell to get $100 (or pounds for you Brits) to get your cash. Otherwise it's a cool find to get an expensive fan for next to zip.
That is the true definition of trash to cash, you are also a true definition of a wolly, made me laugh throughout! Hope your channel grows your good stuff
D West Hi I have the same exact unit without the remote, on/off button does nothing, fan is all cleaned. how did you separate the bottom part from the motor I removed the middle screw at the bottom so now the circuit board is loose from the motor but still can't completely separate maybe 1/4-1/2 inch separated seems as if something is still grabbing it any suggestions thanks.
So did u spend 25£ on remote? And did you keep it or sell it? $25£ & a new power cord could of sold it for £150 profit of 125£ now that my definition of trash to cash
Shouldn't people know more about what they are doing if they are going to make a video? In 5 minutes I learned that if you hold the on button in it will increase the speed and then decrease....think someone should tell him?
Luke your confidence is going through the roof. Love it
Thank you mate! :)
Well done, excellent work. Love the trash to cash approach - more please!
I really do like the idea of this series, If I find more stuff that's broken, for sure were doing more episodes. Thanks mate! :)
Good find Luke and good job. Your detailed observations while tearing it down preserved the integrity of the housing. Bravo young man!
Well done Luke, love a good trash to cash project
Same here mate, I can't believe the things people throw away lol! Cheers! :)

You and Rob have the best luck with "bin finds"!! All I ever find is soggy cardboard and used cat litter!! 😋
Silly, you have to look in other peoples trash piles.
@@DavidKenny64 LOLOL!! 🤣
@@DavidKenny64 I spat my coffee out when I read that,
Hahahaha lol, usually that is the case, sometimes you can get super lucky and stumble across something like this. lol. Thank you! :)
Gotta love people who don’t take care of stuff!!! The bin will always be full for us handy folks.
Great find, great fix and well done on the video. Perfect level of enthusiasm and great presentation skills 👏
Thank you very much mate! :)
excellent job. I'ts becoming more and more inefficient to repair things which is a real pain. I'm glad your taking it up.
Always a good thing when things aren’t thrown away!! Good job!
I agree, I always try to save stuff if it can be repaired. Thanks mate! :)
way to go Luke, show them easy it is👍, and thanks, it was a nice tour to the layout in that thing
Thank you mate! :)
Luke seems to have made a quick recovery from his cap-ectomy.
Good job, Luke. One man's trash should be our treasure, but we need to keep that as a secret otherwise everyone will do that ;-)
Agreed! we don't want them good finds to start becoming rare lol. Cheers mate! :)
Well done, Luke! Your presentations are definitely getting better. Keep it up :)
Luke
You should have a remote control app on your phone which recognises Dyson products!

Congrats and keep up this positive attitude 👍
Fantastic! Keep up the great work!
Thank you mate! :)
Cool great cut scene where I exactly need to know how to put the fan blade back on
Definitely some great detail here, though seeing the cleaning process would be better. You're certainly improving in your presentation and skill.
Thank you for the suggestion mate! :)

Great video Luke keep up the good work man 👍
Luke, well done mate. Great video.
I like the idea from trash to cash, would it work with cars, so someone builds a car from scrap and you make it futuristic and sell it for money.
except that some cars are more cash to trash.

I knew it, there still are blades. They just hid them in the base. xD
Did you repair it (only mentioned cleaning) or was it just a working fan thrown away ?
I'm guessing more of the latter.
It wasn’t working in the condition it was in so it was repaired.

what a pokey motor, what's it's rpm rating
Did I miss something? you didn't actually fix that you just cleaned it.
The cord was cut, so technically a repair… although yea, a very easy one.
Trying to find where to get a replacement cord for fans
Anywhere cut one off an old fridge or appliance & just wire it in.
It'd be interesting to turn that thing into a generator could you do that
