    Really good research you did here. BTW you can turn off the keyfob, hold the lock button and click the unlock two times. Turn it on by clicking unlock button.

      Yup that is another method to put it in sleep mode. I think it was talked about in the keys video.

    Thanks for doing the research. Do you know how vulnerable a 2020 Toyota 4Runner is to CAN BUS attacks? It’s a really old platform e.g. the headlights are halogen and aren’t “smart”.

    • @lsft
      @lsft  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you do not have auto high beams, then the lights should only have a ground and 12V wire. If so, then it's not connected to the CANBUS. From initial looks your 2020 would be ok. But that doesn't mean they can't steal it with other methods. Cheers!

    Hi there, I live in Downtown Oakland, CA.. I recently got my 2015 Lexus GS350 stolen in January out of my parking garage. They busted the sunroof and not sure how but pretty sure they used the CANbus attack or some programming. I got it back but was deemed totaled due to water damage within interior from broken sunroof.
    I am now purchasing a 2021 Lexus IS350, already purchased a club, switching to Disklok lol. OBD lock is cheap so getting that. Do you think I should install the IGLA system or have any recs for the 2021 IS350?
    Much love

    How about having a factory installed engine immobilizer? Does it prevent the vehicle is being stolen?

    • @lsft
      @lsft  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All of these immobilizers definitely help, but the Toyota security key prevents more high tech techniques.

    • @LG-ns9ff
      @LG-ns9ff 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope, if they get in ODB pot which is your left headlight connector or the second ODB port inside your car under the dashboard, they are deactivating any kind of factory immobiliser than start the engine. The whole procedure it takes 2 minutes.

    We had a long talk with our insurance agent. Actually had a reduction and refund when changing from a 2020 RAV4 to a MY24NX. But they were quite insistent that we had added no additional security and must inform them if we did - implied that would increase the insurance. I guess that some security additions actually may defeat the Lexus security.

    • @lsft
      @lsft  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure why they would ask if you had additional security and that it would increase insurance. Is it because the replacement cost would be higher and possible failure?

    On a different note, do you have any videos on installing a hard-wired dashcam in your NX?

    • @lsft
      @lsft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately no. My Lexus Genuine Dashcam was installed by the dealer which is hardwired. The FitCamX is only connected to the front camera splitter and is not hard-wired.

  •  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So what’s the best way to ensure my 24 RX is not stolen?

    • @lsft
      @lsft  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Park it in a garage at night
      If you can't, then I would suggest installing a kill switch or IGLA system.
      Nothing is bullet proof. If they want to steal your car, they can find ways.

  • @viivcreations9161
    @viivcreations9161 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Toyota should just do a Apple. Call in with original owners proof and provide stolen report and they can remote brick the car and all electronics will no longer work until it is sent back into a toyota shop for replacement ecu and vin flash, or nothing will operate nomatter how many parts you replace. :D

    • @lsft
      @lsft  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm going to extend that... Have a kill switch in the app that requires a OTP and password. Once sent the car will blink the emergency lights and then slow down. At that point it will require a tow to the dealership to get in unlocked.

    • @LG-ns9ff
      @LG-ns9ff 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It seems that Toyota doesn't want to come up with a sturdy security solution. They are making their profit on sales. It's impossible that the issue is persisting so long and not too much progress on security.

    Can they use that can bus method on 22 Camrys ?

    • @lsft
      @lsft  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From the list, it doesn't say it uses the Toyota Security Key. Even 2023 Camry Hybrid does not have it. Based on that, I would assume that the new 2025 would have it, but the current gen Camry's are not equipped with the security key. The good thing is the cars stolen are mostly Highlanders and Camry's are not in high demand.

    The NX is Far Less vulnerable as the Front right Fender is NOT Split......Thieves use the split in the RX model to separate at that point to access the front Headlight to attack the "CAN" / over-ride!.......

    • @lsft
      @lsft  ปีที่แล้ว

      The NX can still be pulled. Look at the reddit post a 2023 NX bumper was pulled and the headlight cable was taken off.

      Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? back to my Original Suggestion...Do as I do USE a Brake lock and a steering wheel Lock....The thief will simply NOT go through the hassle....In desperate maybe cut the steering wheel however the brake is still forced ON / Shut off and the vehicle can not be moved....They will move on to another one of the masses who D0-Not care / dime a dozen!......& oh I now if they REALLY want it they will get a helicopter and lift it away!...However DETERRENTS do -indeed count....Additionally, I do Have GPS trackers on said veh. and stickers on windows! .....@@lsft

      Nobody said what you are doing is wrong. As I've said in video, even if they can hack the canbus, it doesn't mean they won't try other methods. So we all should still keep our methods to protect our vehicles.

This will prevent your Steering wheel from being Cut.....& still lock it!..........Any one know where we can get stickers with "WARNING" this vehicle is Not Vulnerable / Protected from "CAN BUS ATTACK"........because ti freaK'n thief is stupid and will Ruin our front fender costing us $600+@@lsft

    The European 2024 NX's have UWB keys...

    • @lsft
      @lsft  ปีที่แล้ว

      So it did go to Europe. Good to know

    • @PaulWeiss4LIFE
      @PaulWeiss4LIFE ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lsft Here in Europe thieves use the GameBoy method. Easier than the suitcase or headlight method. It will probably come to North America too. UWB keys are a must. Just keep in mind crime is a lot lower in Poland than in Canada, so we are not worried as much as you are. In Poland as a whole only 6157 cars were stolen in 2022 - roughly the same population as Canada. What is happening in Canada is crazy. The fact that the authorities are not doing anything about it worrisome.

    • @lsft
      @lsft  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaulWeiss4LIFE thanks for the info. Authorities are doing some stuff, but it's hardly making a dent. We don't have much info on the new NX and what did Lexus do with the keys. We know it's different compared to the previous gen, but we don't know what else was done to it to prevent theft. One way is to use the digital key feature. That uses UWB Bluetooth on our phones.
