    Just to be clear, I'm not blaming black women for the faults of ain't-shit Black men... But whether it's problematic black men, colorism, texture bias/discrimination, the toxicity of the NHC... It's not enough to just point out the problem. It's not about blame but about accountability. We need to ask and examine how we collective contribute to the problem. Just like many of us would like to blame biracial curly naturals for "hijacking" the natural hair movement... They can't hijack something unless we hand it over to them... Who's uplifting them and not all the other representatives of the natural hair community?

      I totally agree, we don't like taking accountability in general for our own sh!t but love pointing the finger and highlighting what's wrong with everything outside of ourselves and not looking at the whole picture and seeing where we may have fallen short or where we may need to heal/work on ourselves. I know exactly where you were coming from, if others don't, it's nothing to do with what you said it's everything to do with them and they just don't want to look at, see it, and address it 🤔🤐😏

      On a respectful note you said theres no bashing or blaming but what do your Mods do they bullied and bash people for no reason i seen it alot of times if you want respect shouldn't they do the same as well and you skip videos that people pay for everyone has an attitude for no reason

      @@queenjhaz9988 what are you referring to? I don't really understand your comment. The mods are doing nothing but what I've asked them to do which is to maintain the order in the live chat. We don't need 100 ppl in the live chat complaining about a video someone spent money for me to react to... We also don't need people to jump into mod business when they remove or timeout people. I noticed a lot of people were doing that last night, questioning why the mods were timing out ppl. I've already asked people to not involve themselves when it has nothing to do with them. When one person starts questioning the mods, the live chat becomes disruptive and encourages other ppl to engage in the same behavior... When we got 1k ppl watching, it becomes chaos which is why they nipped it in the bud. As a viewer the mods are there to make the live chat free of disturbance and disruption for both you and I, as the streamer. They are not against you, don't take it personal.

      So true Narada. We need to be real with ourselves and ask: "are we enough?😁😯 Do we love our pure image, without outside validation; as a necessity?" The finger pointing and arguing gets us nowhere. Especially when it comes to the black community quirrels between men and women. I use to follow Chrissy and many others, like her. But then...I just had to do my own re-evaluation. Anyhow, I enjoyed this live, as always! And I too miss how the old youtube was!😣😣😣

I am over the whole defining my curls with gel, that's been breaking my hair off and causing bald spots so now I'm just going to shampoo, condition and moisturize my hair and leave it alone. Honestly, that is what I LOVE about my 4c hair! It can literally be molded and manipulated into any of the other hairtypes Type 1 all the way to Type 3.🤗 You can have kinky coils one day, fluffy blowout the next, silk press the day after that, have defined curls with perm/ flexi rods the next day, bouncy twistout another day, then end the week off with a big fluffy fro. 4c hair is SOOOO versatile! If people just took the time to learn their hair, see what works, and embrace what their hair CAN do, I dont think that

    It’s depressing to hear all the time our hair being difficult, especially when it’s not the case at least overtime. At some point you have to become comfortable with your hair and accept what it is without comparing it to others. People don’t realize you’re adding to the negative thoughts of your hair and normalizing everyone else to think the same.

    Hey Narada! I had a feeling that my descriptions might have been confusing/vague because of how limited the characters are for superchats. I requested the Stlyedby Cre video "Easy silk press for kids no pain". In a previous live, you made a good point about people not accurately being able to perceive a stylist's work and technique based on the pictures and videos that they post on Instagram/TH-cam, especially if they've never had a bad experience w/ a stylist that would give them an idea of what bad traits to look for. That happened to me. I thought I thoroughly looked through the stylist's reviews, pictures, and videos, but I was completely wrong. I didn't take into consideration the fact that some females (that have gone to stylist for years) know how to act to avoid displaying discomfort when they are getting their hair done (i.e. keeping that neck strong so your head doesn't fly back when a stylist's rips a detangling tool from roots to ends). I also didn't take into consideration the fact that I live in St. Louis (these people crazy). Some of these females are getting their hair pulled out in fights every other week, or they're getting it burned out by kitchen beauticians, so I guess she's a half step above that. I had a feeling that it would be hard to perceive, from the video, what I was talking about since the video is short, and it's sped up. However, the part that I wanted to draw your attention to was at the beginning while she was blow drying the first half of the head. She does the tension method (w/o applying tension; letting the hair fly around freely) until the hair is 100% dry. Then, she sends a comb through a large quadrant of hair (regardless of length, texture, or density) from roots to the ends without stopping even if there is resistance. You can also see it at 1:55-2:30 when you slow the video down. She's literally dragging her head around the entire time. In my case, it was a 9 row Denman brush, and she definitely was not receptive to me telling her how my experience was going. In the last comment of the video she was asked why she only blow dryed half of the little girls head, and she respond back saying that she does this so the client doesn't feel so much pulling all at once. I'm not tender headed, but I believe that if you claim to be a natural hair stylist, you should know how to blow dry textured hair without pulling half of it out. I know you can, deeperthanhair can, CYNTHIA can (lol jk) and many other stylist's can to if you're not just trying to rush through as many heads as you can in a day.There were more things that went wrong during the appointment, but I only wanted to focus on this particular part. My goal was to drive home the point that things aren't always as they seem when it comes to SOME of these hairstylist and the content they post.

    • @AfrikanHairGod
      @AfrikanHairGod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With kids it's really hard to measure how much they are tugging their head around because many young kids don't know how to hold their head and resist the tension when getting their head pulled from a blow dryer or even just combing and brushing. I'll try to remember this comment and discuss it for my next live stream

    • @pune37tAnG
      @pune37tAnG 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AfrikanHairGod Thanks for ready all of that... and hopefully this. I think I understand your point. I do think hearing it orally might give me a better understanding though. Based on what I think your saying, you confirmed my point even further. If a child or someone inexperienced in having someone else handle their hair (I do think this little girl has some experience), it will be easy for people to discern whether or not the person's hair is being handled improperly. I know that there's a pretty thick line between an excessive amount of tension and the actual amount of tension required to blow dry highly textured hair (because I have it and I know how to blow dry it properly). The size of the sections you work in, how thoroughly the hair was detangled ahead of time, whether or not you started blow drying from the ends or the roots, how wet the hair was, and how air flow is being directed impacts how much tension is required. Regardless, I can tell that your care about what the client is experiencing while you do their hair. If you felt a lot of resistance at some point while blow drying someones hair, I know you would stop to take care of the knots/tangles properly instead of just ripping through the hair.

    I did not like shampoos at one point because they made my extremely dry hair at the time even more drier. If you’re experiencing that you have to rebalance your hair and put moist back into your hair. Most of the products I’ve came across at the store did not do that. I had to keep it simple and understand how to use heavy butters that are mixed with different ingredients that will seal the moisture in. I’ve natural for over 10years and finally figured out my hair and what it needs. Which is keep it simple. I literally only use 5 different products to maintain my hair and it’s been thriving so much. I no longer use conditioners and Can’t believe what a difference it’s made to KEEP IT SIMPLE!

    Interesting. I’ll be honest: I didn’t know that there were a lot of 4C people on here and I don’t really look for new people. I find myself struggling with TH-cam sometimes because people are just too much. Like, I came here for a specific reason. Yes, I love different personalities, but if you are TOO much, I am not going to watch your videos. Some people just need to stop being....not authentic. I don’t like searching for content within content, you know? I found a few people I like by watching your streams which is what I like about your streams: if your requesters want a general category, you pull up someone who we may not already know. You share the wealth lol *talking about NappyHeadedJojoba’s video

    mm i think you judge starpuppy too harshly. She's an eccentric but soft spoken woman, theres nothing wrong with that. Anyone is entitled to feel that their hair stressful, i think we need to stop with this narrative that black women MUST accept their hair. Unfortunately sometimes it is hard, but they are allowed to feel that way. At least she tries with her hair and above all, she knows her hair the best and does the best she can with that information.

      I'm sorry but if every other week you are coming out with a self depreciated titled video about having bad or undesirable hair, to me that sends the wrong message and counterproductive to the negative 4c Hair bias. I just don't get anything out of her videos... I'm not really sure why y'all rock so hard for them to be honest... I couldn't care less how eccentric or different she is or what she's into but I can say I'm at least happy that her hair seems to be in a much better place. Like I said in my video, I'm not opposed to her learning to love her hair but I don't know, many of her videos seem gimmacky and attention seeking for me.

    Is it okay to used heat from a drier once a week for your wash and goes? I heard from a stylist, it doesn't matter if you deep condition every week, especially if it's indirect heat from a hooded drier.

      @@ToniToussaint there you go. They have to stir things up and get all philosophical and extra so that the video takes time, which equals money, follow the trends, which equal money. It comes down to that. If Jojoba wasn't all about chasing the trends and all of that maybe she would see she could do hair AND do the talking as she does. I mean was her channel REALLY falling thru or something because in all honesty folks could easily dismiss her as just being jealous of everyone and making up weak excuses of "oh its colourism." "oh its texturism." "oh folks just can't handle my hair type." Not a good look there. Folks would say she's just bitter.

      im starting to believe many/most of these Tubers are actors and professional people. Time and time again you replicate what they do and its messy in real life. Yet they do things smoothly: hair grows super fast all the time. edges lay down easily even with 4c hair.
      I mean just all kind of things. I think there are tricks and nacks going on that are being edited out or so.
      They come off as if they are coming out of acting school or so and getting their "big break" by doing social media "acting" and so here they are. Same with the hair persons its as if they are some celeb hair stylists who are to NEVER tell that publicly so they get online to be a social media star by doing social media acting.

    The first video was a bit of a drag..I'm not sure what she was trying to get at other than SHE doesn't see 4c hair online, when like you said Narada which I agree with, we see the hair in real life. I see lots of Black women with natural hair, have all my life. Maybe it's because my world does not revolve around toxic influencer culture and being online and giving a shit but it's there. I get that 4c hair doesn't get all the support and stuff but those of us that do support, are you saying our support is not enough? Me sending money to someone's pay pal and thanking them for their content isn't enough? Sharing their videos, and liking them is not enough? What is the goal here? Is the goal to become super popular online or to just enjoy posting content?
    It's like vegans making "meat-like" foods, it's not ever going to be meat so stop trying. If the shit doesn't curl, stop forcing it.
    There's also a high chance that I missed the point of the video entirely because I zoned out...a few times. Thanks for the markers because I skipped the rest of this one. lo siento ;|
