As someone who has taken chem in undergrad, the way chemistry terms are being thrown around is so confusing but hilarious. A hydrogen bond is not a thing that can be “floating around”, it describes the behavior of molecules. It is when certain elements within a molecule (fluorine, oxygen, or nitrogen) are attracted to hydrogen (such as the hydrogen in water which is why water “breaks” the bonds). These bonds will easily reform once the water evaporates away, reverting the hair. From my understanding, disulfide bonds are a type of covalent bond (connecting the elements together that make up a molecule). Breaking these would break up the actual molecules that make up your hair.
I’m starting to believe a basic chemistry and biology class and how it relates to hair, may be needed in cosmetology school. It’s disheartening to hear how many stylist lack basic understanding of chemistry/ biology 101 concepts. Especially since they’re playing in peoples hair.

They have no issues with the next guy. 13:48 now that's what gets my back up..... Over- explaining ..... Then you know they're trifling . I don't believe in dry detangling, esp when tangled. I believe that sometimes build up kinda glues the hair together. So after washing hair and with conditioner it's easier to detangle. I worked in a salon as a shampoo girl when I was in high school. They left the detangling to me cos I was better at it. I always did a clarifying wash and the conditioner with great slip and a wide toothed comb, thereafter a deep conditioning treatment if needed and I don't have a stitch of cosmetology theory.
She and several others say dry detangle with oil. While I don't totally disagree, in cases with severe matting, a wash and then detangling with conditioner is best in my experience. I also have to add my community are mostly mixed race ..... Name the race and you'll find it in our genes. our hair ranges from type 1 to about 4a. There are 4c but its not that common. So I am speaking from a mixed race pov. When you wash away the gunk glueing hair together first, detangling becomes easier. On the other hand, my personal experience as a kid is my mom would oil my hair and brush and style daily. I always had oil on my hair and my hair was NEVER badly tangled. It took 5 mins on a bad day. So their idea isnt totally wrong Imo if the hair isn't too badly matted and dirty. XX
Honestly I found your channel from y’all first debate but your explanation on the bonds resonates with me more because it works on my hair better for detangling, I respect both opinions though I ain’t go to school for it y’all did 😂. I read the article. Thank you for providing this information. I can understand now why she took certain pieces of data from this article to promote dry detangling method. It appears as though the earlier part of the article might support her claim. But as I read further, and understanding, cellular makeup and lipid profile of African-American hair, I understand your perspective. I quote from the article,“breakage does not happen in isolation. In reality, it often happens while hair is brushed or combed. The unique morphology of African-American hair makes it difficult to untangle and comb when dry. However, when wet it becomes straighter and more easier to comb. This is opposite to straight hair.“ I appreciate this article. Thank you for this stream of information.❤❤
I like Cyn. She’s helped me in my hair growth. She’s says that the clients that wasn’t listening for a while and she wasn’t happy. I don’t think she is blaming you for anything. But hopefully y’all can be okay one day ❤
The words used in the study for the part talking about afro textured hair while wet made it seem like what cyndoll was saying was actually true. They shoulda replaced words like fragile and weak with flexible and relaxed. I also wanna know if there was truly more breakage with wet hair or if that was just shed hair that was easier to get out while the hair was in a more malible state. While this is a great study the wording used makes me think if was written by someone not familiar with natural hair even tho thats obviously not the case. Hopefully people don't get confused when reading up on this study.
I agree. The basic point of the study is that natural hair resists micro tears in the cortex layer when wet. In theory the hair should be weaker and experience damage like the other hair types but afro hair has a different response and behavior
The article didn’t back up when she says we shouldn’t detangle our hair while wet, the article said the solution is to comb the hair while it is wet with conditioner to reduce breakage. Cyn doll says we should never do that. I always believed and knew the hair is weaker when wet because if you detangle the hair improperly while wet, you can stretch and pull it so much that it breaks. So Cyn doll isn’t saying anything we don’t know. There’s a balance when detangling natural hair. Wet is best to reduce breakage BUT you MUST be gentle. Take 1 section at a time. And add some sort of detangler or conditioner. My natural hair grows to hip length while being massively thick. I NEVER detangle on dry hair because it can cause more breakage than if you detangle it wet.
Dang I missed the live!! It’s been a hottttt minute since you’ve discussed Cyn Doll! I remember that. Elite Hair Care flagged one of your videos?! Smh. 🤦🏽♀️Another EDIT: Dang really Cyn?!! She should have just left it as it was. Sheesh!
I learned something new with the kink description. I've looked at my hair and noticed the areas where it gets narrow and then big again. I use to think it was damage.
Also remember that afro hair is shaped as a flattened elliptical and not a rounded cylinder. Those places where it's narrowed in could be the hair twisted on itself like a ribbon 🎗
I almost fell for her stuff, she talks with such confidence and says every 30 seconds she went to cosmetology school. but then I saw the videos over the years of her real hair. It looks bad, it looks damaged, thin, it doesn't even look like it has barely grown.
I agree with you a 💯percent. I watch both you and Cyn Doll's channel. I took the time to listen to some of the things she said on her channel to later realizing that some of the things she stated in regards to natural hair did not make since. Take for instance the statement about Hydrogen bonds. Just as you stated if a person never went to college to take a chemistry class would not know that bonds just don't float around in the atmosphere. When bond are broken they remain attached to one another but rearrange the order in which they were originally attached to one another. In simple terms starting off with a strong bond to forming a weaker bond. Also I tried detangling my hair dry and took the necessary measures to be gentle as possible to end up with more breakage and damage to my natural hair. Plus Cyn Doll doesn't believe heat is bad for natural leaving views to believe that using heat on their hair all the time even if it's just a blow drier will cause no harm. Hmm tried blow dry my hair once a month and my hair became dry and brittle and started to tangle up more wanting to latch on to other hair strands like velcro. The only thing Cyn Doll was right about is that people have a tendency to use to much products on their hair. I'll be mostly listening and watching your channel more in the future because it relates more to what I believe will help my natural hair to be more healthy and thrive. Thank you for your knowledge you give your viewers it's priceless!!! Love your channel.
Detangling heat styled hair when it is dry versus detangling virgin hair when it’s dry is different. If your hair is heat styled, dry-detangling is easy, because you don’t have the kinks and curls there to contend with. But if your hair is in its virgin state and it hasn’t been combed regularly in a while, detangling it while dry will definitely cause damage.

I ❤you you are dead on point about our natural hair I watch cyndoll channel and I was kind of ifee about what she was talking about due to her look damage anyway her hair is short and it's seems like it's not growing I was trying to figure it out so as long as she is teaching how to grow hair her hair should be down to her waist but it's not even bra strap at all smh
No lie, I actually am worried about her. I listened to just a few seconds of her video and I am pretty sure that she is going through some type of emotional distress. I hope somebody in her circle actually reaches out to her and she doesnt get stuck with just her (admittedly very small) TH-cam echochamber. She doesn't need her fans gas(light)ing her up, she needs a friend.
I feel you. That's why I laid off of her for so long. She seems a bit off to me emotionally (my opinion) so I don't let anything she says get to me. Sometimes ppl need to vent and get it out their system. I don't think she's a bad person. Just misguided and maybe misunderstood.
@@AfrikanHairGod Agreed. I hope she can breathe in, breathe out, and move on. Letting that exchange be a defining moment in her life is only in her power. Thank you for not feeding into the craziness and just stating what's so. I went to a salon in portland oregon and she had me under the hair drier first for 45 mins without heat protection and straightened my hair w/ blow drier with a dime size if that . I never went back, i sceduled for natural styling but she wasnt ready to do it. Her salon is a straight hair salon.
Her attitude is rotten. I can’t receive anything she says. My hair is butt length and have always detained my hair while is wet. Her saying she's the reason I grew is more of an insult to me than her lying on me. No shade to Will but his high energy and frequent meme style just isn't for me and that's 👌he's for who he's for.
@AfrikanHairGod I fully believe she meant it as an insult. Your channel grew not because of her. It grew in spite of her. She was literally one of many out here throwing out all sorts of false facts and leaning into bad hair care practices, gaslighting the heck out of everyone. Your channel grew because you called this out and educated with actual facts. It was the confirmation we needed to keep doing what we're doing when everyone was telling us we're wrong and that we needed to do this new stuff. So if anything, if she feels she contributed to your growth, that's basic admittance of her lack hair care knowledge. Literally "you grew because of my bad information!! You're welcome!!!" 🤣
Mr. Narada, I like your channel because you understands natural hair and you do beautiful work. Please don't get offended when I say you use too much profanity. I used the closed caption but, I miss out and don't get the full effect of the video. Please don't take offense.
I know this might be overthinking but even though natural hair is strong enough and its easier to detangle wet can you make the argument that it could be healtiest to dry detangle with a lubricant(oil) since the hair has all its strength? Personally, I think i have the best detangling when my hair is damp(not wet) with an oil heavy cream like a hair milk.
No because hair doesn't have the elasticity it needs to work thru tangles dry. I don't think hair detangles best fully saturated all the time but it depends on the hair and situation. Hair gains at least 50% more elasticity when wet vs dry which helps to resist breakage. That's precisely what the article concluded.
@AfrikanHairGod I see. So, despite the hair technically being a bit weaker when wet, any "potential damage" that could happen with the hair being detangled wet is significantly less compared to the damage done by detangling it dry.
@@iateyursandwiches I think you should let it make sense and let it work for you. If you feel like you can navigate your hair better damp or dry, I think you should continue to do so. There are too many variables to give absolutes for natural hair.
@AfrikanHairGod oh I will[handle it damp]. I guess I was trying to make a conceptual idea on why kinky/curly natural hair is different from straighter hair. Regardless, thanks for always being there answer questions and help us understand our hair.

You've always occured to me as creating much needed space for grace and growth in a field that is systematically hostile to black people, feminized bodies, and especially black women. I appreciate the education and the advocacy.
I appreciate your perspective. I cannot find the link to the study so I can educate myself. Where can I find it?
I went to a salon in portland oregon and she had me under the hair drier first for 45 mins without heat protection and straightened my hair w/ blow drier with a dime size if that .
I never went back, i sceduled for natural styling but she wasnt ready to do it. Her salon is a straight hair salon.
Thanks Narada I appreciate your honesty and truth❤
Always!
Here for the replay and the shade lol
Ngl, I was waiting for you to do one anyway because this witch got me confused about what is true 😂😂
Her attitude is rotten. I can’t receive anything she says. My hair is butt length and have always detained my hair while is wet. She’s a know it all with an elitist
attitude, yet her hair isn’t growing. Thank you for this video. I had to search on yt to see if someone did a reaction video on her bc i know i wasn’t crazy 😂
Her hair is past her shoulders she has videos showing her real hair
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Ngl I was waiting for this when I saw her vid pop up today.
Omg where have I been! I need to see when you cut the locs!
I shaved them shits off over 4 years ago. Right after our spat happened I decided to shave it
This was pure Aries energy 😂❤
I like cyn but she does think she knows everything!
Same😂
That one time she said the rice water was knocking on peoples hair strands trying to get out 😂 This drama has been ongoing and it's hilarious! 😂 I stopped following her a long time ago she didn't strike me as knowing much about hair before the drama. #HydrogenBonds 🤣
I did grab some popcorn and soda to watch the replay 😂
This gurl smarted off to me in her own comments.
Me too! 😂
All I did was ask about her wig.
@@JC-vz9hz😂😂😂
The comments are killing me 😂
The outro is wild!!😢😂😂
You keeping it real though💯
10/10 video. Many people can benefit from achieving even an Associate of Science Degree.
Thanks for the info! Do you have any video on biracial/mixed hair or just Afro-textured? :)
Hair is hair to me. I really see no distinction with mixed hair. Black hair comes in all forms. Truth be told we all a little mixed up here in the US.
@@AfrikanHairGod thank you for your response :)
Replay gang
😂😂😂 @ elite haircare, please don't go there, that lady with her chopped and screwed hair styling techniques looool she is on a different level.
Retired with 6 figures at 28. For 5 years?
New math
She asked for it❤
Ooo here we GO!
YOU ARE SOOOOO FUNNY 😂😂😂😂
I had to stop watching her content...she's very negative and condescending
T RAda 🤣🤣🤣🤣🎶🎧🙌🏽🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥
Preach!!😂
T- Rada in da MF building!
The song!!! 💀💀💀
The song tho 😂
Where is the sound bite or the messages where she blamed you for her reasoning for stepping away from the chair
She said it in her recent video
She also said she's the reason he blew up
Her saying she's the reason I grew is more of an insult to me than her lying on me. If I wanted clout I'd piggyback off of Brad mondo or will on a whim, both of which people know that I don't like to react to.
But why show a old video and not that video just my mind wondering but I like both channels
#Replay 🧃🍿
6:53 oh wow I remember that 😅
you look good! looks like your getting lean!
Thank you I'm trying my best! 👍
Where is your shop???
Check my video description
Mr. Narada, I like your channel because you understands natural hair and you do beautiful work. Please don't get offended when I say you use too much profanity. I used the closed caption but, I miss out and don't get the full effect of the video. Please don't take offense.
❤❤❤❤
@@iateyursandwiches if this was cyn she would've called you an idiot for evenasking this question and blocked you😂😂
No shade btw, but the contrast in the way these two navigate audience interactions just tickles me.
Hilarious
The song at the end got me on the FLOOOR!!😂🤣🤣🤚💚
I think you are the same age as her Narada, lol! I think you may be a few years younger.
She focuses to much on science and science can be wrong sometimes
I'm not even here for the read I'm here for the education 🥹❤️✌🏾 I love you so much may blessings continue to overflow in abundance in your favor forever and always ❤
Thank you! I appreciate you so much! ❤️
