    You missed a few points. The slide puns ate different and you should have mentioned which one was top and bottom. The one with the little rubber bushing is bottom. If you do them one at a time it's not a big deal, but you know most people are just gonna pull them both out lol

    Your video was so clear and concise! I changed the rear pads and rotors of my 2005 Honda Pilot with no problem.
    I appreciated the job maintenance tips such as using the carton as a catch basin for part cleaning, and flipping the rotor around on the lugs to hold it for cleaning the reverse side.
    Thank you!

    Good refresher, as I'm doing my rear Pilot brakes soon. Thoughts: 1) It's easier to torque the caliper bracket bolts before putting the pads/caliper on. 2) When compressing the piston, definitely recommend opening the master cylinder cover and watching the brake fluid level. Have a clean turkey baster or similar to draw off fluid if it's going to overflow. 3) The parking brake should be checked and adjusted if needed after installing a new rotor. The rubber cover on the rotor is the access hole to the adjustment nut. 4) It's NEVER that easy in real life to remove the (annoying) phillips-head rotor retainer screws. Either get an hand impact screwdriver, or just drill them out and don't put new ones on...they're only so the rotors don't fall off during vehicle assembly.

      These are good tips. I just completed the rears on my GF's '08 and it was really fairly easy. Hardest part for me was having to drill out the locater screws on the rotors - they would not budge even with penetrating oil and a power screwdriver. And then the driver side rotor was pretty hard to hammer off even with a deadblow hammer. Saved a TON of money though.

      Don't forget to rinse the Turkey Baster when you sneak it back into the kitchen John 3:16

    Just did the rears on my GF's '08 this past weekend. Locator screws would NOT budge even with penetrating oil so I had to drill them out, but other than that it was a pretty easy job. Thanks for the great video!

    8mm x 1.25 bolts to take off great tip thanks Also my rotor screws were extremely stuck if you’re having the same issue use the end of a 3/8 ratchet or some thing about the size of the head of the screw and smack it with a hammer as hard as you can to break the rust and soak it in penetrating oil, add heat and slowly extract I broke multiple Phillips number three heads before I had to cut a slot With a Dremel to put in a flat head

    You didnt say to check your fluids and im assuming that you did the brake on the other side also didnt check the ebrake due to indifference of rotor to pad wear just saying otherwise great video

    For the screws holding on the rotor, note they are not actually Phillips head. They are JIS (#3 I believe). Spend the $15-20 on a JIS impact screwdriver and thank me later. ;-)

    No one ever explains the slide pins. In my 2008 honda pilot. One of the rear calipers has one slide pin that has a rubber on end of it and the other slide pin doesn't. Looks kinda octagonish. My question is does it matter which hole the one with the rubber on end and the other go into

    I usually bleed the brake line after. Is it not needed?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +BC Paletta If you don't open the system, you don't need to be bleed them out. But it is a good idea to bleed the brakes after so many years because crud can build up in it and hinder your drive. So it's not a bad idea to bleed your brakes out after you do a brake job just to get the crud out.

    On the front brakes, you remarked about the two assembly screws NOT being needed now; then, in the rear, you remove & reinstall them, even though they serve no purpose except to aid assembly. Worse, when we reinstall them, you failed to put anti seize on them. It is fair to say that those assembly screws are one of the worst feature of Honda brakes. Please reconsider...

    Nakamoto Rotors & the ceramic pads that comes with it sucks!!.. The rotors wrapped within a matter of a year or less.. Although they are cheap and "claims" that they are high quality, its definitely NOT true.. I bought a Set Of Front & Rear rotors with ceramic pads last year for my 2006 Honda Pilot. Did the installation by a certified mechanic and just under a year later under normal driving, The rear rotors are wrapped badly. I get A LOUD braking noise when I'm braking from 30mph to complete stop (mind you, not hard braking). When i took it to my mechanic, he said the front is not as bad as the rear rotor. you can actually see that part of the rotor is not grabbing the pads.. This is so bad, I immediately bought a new set of Callahan Rotors and ceramic pads. They are SO MUCH BETTER!!.. Price wise, Its also slightly cheaper.
    I would never touch NAKAMOTO products ever again.. Your video shows you're using nakamoto rotors and pads so this is why i'm commenting on it based on my opinion with Nakamoto brake products
