Beach entrances/exits are always the softest. Drop your tire pressure until the sidewalls bulge and keep up your speed, stop before you dig in. Add a ground/sand anchor to your kit...your winch is useless without one. They look like a danforth style with larger blades. The best!!

Maybe put some ropes on the maxtracks and tie to the mog. So you pull them with you after you get unstuck 😁

Great video again guys. You have not been 4 wheel driving until you have been stuck, part of the fun. As Chris said there are many ways you could have tried. Next time just try tyre pressure, its amazing what that few less psi will do.

One problem with split ring rims is reducing pressure. That is why I suggest they save up to change to bead lock rims which one do get for the Unimog.

Use the drone to search for larger unwanted sharks; there's a guy flying around Sydney, doing it all the time - made a TH-cam channel out of it, showing loads of dangers, interesting sites. It's a process that obviously works as a safety factor. So you'd, at least, be able to see in advance if the landlord was cruising!! Great workout for the truck, tracks and yourselves!!

Good job.. !! For the Maxtrack leashes.. really just put a long, bright cord on them (5M or so), you generally need to find them. then dig them out. your not going to pull them out of sand or mud via the cord anyway :)

Mahalo for another great video guys! Glad you touched on the subject of great whites in this episode because I’ve always wondered? FYI, great whites have been visiting Hawaii for ages now and there’s video proof on TH-cam. In fact, Deep Blue has been documented here feeding on a dead whale carcass, most recently! This means that great whites regularly swim an incredible, 3000 miles from California or Mexico to get here so I suspect 100km is probably a walk around the block? I was a spear fisherman here for 30 years so I know your passion, but am now a converted shore caster, spin caster fisherman because unlike spearing, the thrill of the fight with a size able fish on the end of your line, is 2nd to none.
With that said, I realize that your grocery store is often times the sea, so may I suggest your backup plan in case for some reason, you are unable to dive, is to jig hard or soft artificial baits to catch your meals? There are many videos of folks in Australia and New Zealand who roam the coasts fishing for pretty big fish, while not getting wet? Bottom line, carry a few poles and fishing tackle as a backup plan? Your Mate could also learn to fish and may even catch lunch while you dive! Since you dive in such remote areas, I know the fishing would be extremely lucrative! Well, that’s my 2 cents. Keep the great videos coming! Aloha & tight lines!

    RE: tyre pressure
    Australian frontline machinery
Truck, Cargo, Medium, MC2, 4×4, Mercedes Benz data summary
    Tyre Pressures:
    (1) Highway:
    (a) Front .................... 310 kPa (45 psi)
    (b) Rear ..................... 550 kPa (80 psi)
    (2) Cross Country:
    (a) Front .................... 240 kPa (35 psi)
    (b) Rear ..................... 448 kPa (65 psi)
    (3) Mud and Sand:
    (a) Front .................... 137 kPa (20 psi)
    (b) Rear ..................... 207 kPa (30 psi)
There is data info. TH-cam won’t let me send you the link 😞
I know that you don’t want to drop them down cause it takes to long to blow them back up .But I’m sure that you can use the air plump that fills the mogs brake air tanks to help blow them back up .I think you can tap into the air tank drain tap .You could probably also fit another air tank for more air storage.
Great show . stay safe 👍

I would go on record as saying Unimog's would be the best 4x4 on the road. if your spending all that time on the beach drop your pressure down until the tyre spreads a lot wider than normal. 15-20psi, and it will be unstoppable if driven to the terrain. nice work on the motorhome part all in all a great combination. glad you dont have a factory winch as they are crap. - what are you using for a winch back and front? warn?

Here’s my comment from the peanut gallery, I think Ange nailed it when she told you to stop and it was digging the first time, however the second time it looked like it was still making headway and may have climbed it’s way out. What’s was going on with the engine bogging down after it climbed over the maxtracks? Not giving it enough throttle or ? I would have thought using the max tracks to develop momentum and keep going rather than the multiple reset like you guys did. Just my observation, I’m sure you have reviewed the Footage and Made your own analysis. What a stunning place south western Aus is. Edit I’m torn like both hummus and peanut butter and jam, I’m fence sitting lol

    • @Nesten321
      @Nesten321 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Something else to add from the world of unimog offroading . . . the general rule of thumb with unimogs is to go slow and not necessarily carry a bunch of momentum (they can't really carry that much momentum) it's all about energy management and letting the suspension and gearing work for you. What I think was happening with the engine bogging down was wrong gear choice (too high while trying to slip the clutch in order to smoothly start off). I agree that they were probably good after they stopped the first time, however right before he stopped he started giving it too much throttle and started to dig down more. He needed less throttle at the end there (about how much he had right after he started out) and if you have to stop, start off from a lower gear . . . in this case they probably would have been fine starting out in 1st and just crawling up (i'm talking around 1k to 1500 rpm and almost no throttle) it's surprising what these things will crawl themselves up if you let them (also the see sawing of the wheel while moving always helps if you can do it). Lastly about the max trax, I get why they didn't want to develop momentum here because it was a very narrow track so little room for error (they just used the max tracks to basically get started again)

    • @Nesten321
      @Nesten321 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Also 30 in the front and 40 in the rear may be a bit high for how much weight they were carrying (if i remember correctly some Unimog drivers on expeditions in the Sahara went down below 20 psi in the really deep sand, just be careful of not putting too much side pressure on the tire and to air back up a bit when you get out of the sand because it's harder to break a bead on the sand than it is on the rocks.) I would highly recommend doing some research on some of the forums on what your regular sand driving pressures are and what you can safely go down to in an emergency. (you'd be surprised in some cases but I don't want to give exact numbers at the moment because I can't be sure i'm remembering them correctly off the top of my head).

I did feel the truck was stalling due to not being in lowest gear. 1st gear low is almost impossible to stall on 4wds. I feel sorry for you guys with the fuel prices ATM. The United Peanut Butter Nations did a survey and found Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam is right up there , followed by Peanut Butter and Honey in second place , then Peanut Butter and Vegemite.
The Rules of course are you must have ample butter under your PB to give it the creamyness.
Some professional PB fans just get a bowl , add 5 tablespoons of PB , 2 tablespoons of butter and 2.5 tablespoons of Jam , stir it all in together then go climb a tree while you eat it so your housemates dont see anything to criticise you for ;)

Keep having fun keep the videos coming. Good Luck in your future adventures.

Hi Guys, loving the build and the adventures!! I am wondering if I could be so cheeky to ask is how do/did you guys fund all this as I never see you leave for work? Also, with finding the maxtrax, try using a steel rod as they do when trying to locate people in the snow or as Chris said, to put the leash on them!!

Thank you Peter for following along! The build was mostly funded by the sell of our Jeep & all our camping gear, our savings and our TH-cam income (our full-time job). We definitely need to put the leash on them 😅

Loved this , Ange you are a real adventurer warrior , love how you crawled around that sand and was still smiling and laughing 😂, just loving the adventure. Well I am a fan of both PNB and HUMMUS. Here is a few of my peanut butter combinations that I like; ready 😊 PNB stewed apple and cream on toast, PNB and beetroot from a tin on a sandwich, PNB and salad sandwich or roll, PNB. Slice of Orange and onion on a sandwich. PNB cottage cheese and stewed peaches or sliced preserved peaches on toast, PNB on apple slices, PNB banana and cheese on sandwich or Toast with the cheese grilled, PNB with almost any jam on toast (also Vegemite with jam on toast yum) and add cheese to that combination if you like. PNB and honey and add cream if you like. PNB honey and banana on bread or toast. Like Chris I love PNB in case you couldn’t tell. Oh and PNB and sliced crystallised ginger on bread or toast. PNB on celery sticks.
Hummus I like to use on sandwiches, for dipping, with salads , celery and carrot sticks .
Any way that’s enough Chris probably has plenty of his own PNB specialty combinations 😊
    Thanks for another great episode

For soft sections consider using a bit of momentum to carry you over before Maxtrax.
