Almost everything in this video is nerfed in some way in UNI2!

I just can’t get over how they made Vatista such a strong character, and then thought a suitable trait for her is the complete inability to be counterhit. Wacko game. Couldn’t love it more.

Its crazy that out of the whole roster, she's the only one incapable of being counterhit, quite funny considering she's one of the biggest threats in the game.

The thing about Yuzu is that she takes so much active brain to pilot. She's good, sure, but but only a handful of people manage to master her, and then when the level of competition is peak they run out of gas before grand finals.
Go watch the first UNIST EVO top 8 again, and see Kure's mental stack crumble in front of you. And he's the Yuzu GOAT.

The crazy part I heard is that even with the nerfs,, Vatista is still busted.
The fact that Vatista can't be counter hit literally makes no sense, and the fact that this mechanic was also brought over to bbtag confuses me.
Chaos has a pretty long list of abnormalities. 6C has block-cancellable recovery. Basically a few frames where chaos is Unactionable but can still block. Which is weird by itself, but since Enkidus Havoc activates on any recovery state, he can activate it on block during 6C's recovery for some unique punishes.
You mentioned IW whiff cancels in another video, but it also works with moves like 22X, s.236X, 214[X], and 623[B]. You can just through it out in neutral or at the end of a blockstring and if it doesn't hit Azhi can make it safe or even plus, although usually with a gap.
For some reason using specials during Vorpal releases the cancel restriction on normal assault, so you can do double overheads after assault 236X.
Stance has a pushbox. This doesn't sound all the weird until you remember you can activate it at anytime Azhi is idle. If you space Azhi just right you can activate stance during enemy recovery to steal the corner for some dirty crossups. This works after a throw.
214X fireballs don't go away if Chaos or Azhi get hit, so they can occasionally trade with reversals or even interrupt combos. If your still grounded sometimes you can even get a combo of your own. They also follow Azhis normal cancel rules despite being projectiles, so with some space you can cancel earlier hits of 214C while the later ones are still traveling.
Not a Chaos specific thing, but he and some other characters can combo into Guard Thrust.
thanks for all the info! for this video i wanted to specifically highlight things that’ll be gone in UNI2. i definitely could’ve gone on about yuzu, chaos, hilda, etc.
i actually don’t know if the chaos iw damage glitch got fixed or not; something i should’ve looked into
being able to counter hit vatista is already probably the best thing that uni2 has done... and that's considering that tsurigi is in that game

Imma play devils advocate for VO, the fact that it mitigates playing for the cycle is a net good. It's also reasonable considering it's deceptively high risk and opportunity cost. Even when it works you're giving up the ability to build meter for the next round, and since it doesn't do any damage on it's own it doesn't directly help you make up a life lead.
And it allows for more variety and choices during combos. You can spend some meter on guaranteed damage in the short term, or convert your meter with VO to turn around the resource war. Something that can be necessary for characters without a strong post CS game.
VO is a bet that may or may not payoff, there's stopping nothing you from using whatever tool you would've used post CS anyway. If they think VO makes them safe just reversal anyway. I feel like the changes in UNI2 sort of make the GRD game less interactive because losing can be so devastating.

I used to play so much UNIST and then all my friends wondered why I dropped when UNICLR came out. The buffs to Byak and Vatista practically killed the game for me, and it didn't help that they nerfed Wagner but then said "no its ok, she gets 7k off of a throw"
thankfully all those things will be gone in uni2! 🙏
I am glad the bigger chunk of this video is getting changed. no vo strip and shield advancing time of cycle will be MASSIVE gameplan changers for a lot of characters (which means imo Byakuya shoots up the tierlist and he already is problematic) but I feel like this game is fundamentally very fucking broken lol

I understand this is a tongue in cheek parody of the UMVC3 video but we can't even begin to compare the two games and their balancing.
I'm just glad kyo won the big JP tournaments with Gordeau and even intimidated clearlamp into picking Enkidu instead.

This is so charming!! I've been taking a break from fighting games for the past few months, but watching this made me want to pick UNICLR up again :') It's hands down my favorite fighting game, even though I'm terrible at it. Thank you for making this, it's a lovely little archive of some of my favorite parts of the game ^_^

carmine 236a > ic 214x > any button > negative edge puddle then repeat is a gapless infinite blockstring that does a pretty disgusting amount of chip and the only way to get out of it is guard cancel. it's not really all that useful but it is pretty funny idk why no one talks about it cuz as far as I know it's still in the game
normally something like this would be fairly broken because of the inescapable chip damage, but in this situation, you’re giving your opponent a lot of grd, AND carmine is losing HP. it’s still strong, but not something you want to be doing too often
I’ve played uniclr on and off at events and other places never learned the game just mashed I played uni 2 at the Evo setup when it was announced and the crowd of people that rushed to play it was astonishing I played the uni 2 beta enjoyed it and I’m excited to play it fully when it comes out

I learned about the Vatista thing because the only person I could get to play the game told me about it.
As a Byakuya player, I was completely oblivious to what Jank I had at my fingertips
and I still a damn fine game, some of the most satisfying fighting game kino
If I didn't already love UNICLR, this would have successfully sold me on it. God I love this game, as well as this franchise. The changes will be welcome to keep things fresh.

Unfortunately, wound up coming back to UNICLR when realizing Under Night II isn't as fun. The damage increase and some of the system shifts didn't wind up working in its favour, rolling over opponents feels less rewarding. Truly would love UNICLR rollback
Ironically, the brevity of this video compared to its equivalents for other games is a good argument for why UNICLR(in its current state) is one of the most balanced fighting games ever made.

all i know about uni is from playing gordan freeman in cross tag battle but im thinkin ill get this along with my beloved tekken 8 instead of granblue versus rising as this game looks more traditional(compared to granblue lmao) and for my learning experience i think that'd be better as well as it has more characters i think look interesting but mostly enkidu fr

While the " perfect" game seems hyperbolic, I can see why some folks feel that when you look at other main stays. UNI still offer variety of win conditions and flexibility as opposed to other game where it feels more rigid but I'm not high level player so let's say I'm talking out of my ass. UNI not perfect but it's the only game I'm actively looking forward. But I'm also stan from Frenchbread games. ( MBAACC being my favorite fighter)

He is. He's also really fun. Uni2 changes a lot with him though. You can now break his webs with a normals and he doesn't steal nearly as much GRD. Also 3C uncharged is no longer a low. Charged 3C is still an overhead though
