      Not going to lie. That's the one I would have chose from those because I feel like it's really cute to have the loaves look like like a long pie and then each of the bars look like an itty bitty slice from like a pie that was like made in a sheet pan or something. So it's more squared

    As a PNW native and hiker of the forests and explorer of waterfalls, I agree that it's very reminiscent of our woods and heartily approve. It's gorgeous! For pine needles on soap tops I usually go with dried rosemary, it does the job pretty well. Actual juniper berries and peppercorns give a great effect too!

  • @lindsayf9225
    @lindsayf9225 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +786

    It's so specific because it takes its information from actual soap makers who have posted these things. Which is the moral issue a lot of people have with AI, it takes from artists without support or credit.

    • @marli8907
      @marli8907 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +58

    • @Jay_Kay666
      @Jay_Kay666 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +47

      I just took information from actual soap maker so real question is what makes chatgpt different from me?
      Neither of us stores the data but learns from it. It can't be using data for money because if I were a soap maker no one would judge me for learning techniques from books or internet.

    • @lindsayf9225
      @lindsayf9225 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +65

      @marli8907 yeah but for example Katie's earnings from TH-cam directly relate to views, so if her video is viewed once and then shared by someone else without credit, then the hours of work she put into it don't help her support her family. I don't think AI shouldn't be used, I just think there should be some method to make sure the true labor being put into its algorithms is being accounted for and compensated.

    • @jenniferhookway2086
      @jenniferhookway2086 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +53

      Yep that's it exactly. Chat GPT does all this without providing any kind of monetary benefit to the artists and content creators it took the information from. Our views on this video provide monetary benefit! If I share this video with someone else, they also provide a view (and money) to Katie...but when Chat GPT shares the information again, there's no benefit again. Eventually artists will get "starved out" as folks stop visiting original artists and go exclusively to AI...but then AI will have nothing new to learn from. It's a huge ongoing problem.

  • @leahgroess5361
    @leahgroess5361 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    I always imagine coniferous scents to evoke a more wintery theme what with wreaths and christmas trees and such, but PNW fall makes a lot of sense! I really like the lattice pie crust soap frosting, so definitely keep that design aspect in your "someday" soaps. Maybe a cherry or blueberry pie, the contrast of tan crust with dark red or blue/purple pie filling would be very striking.

  • @floramew

    This is the way I wish AI was being used -- as *inspiration,* not final product. I know that your craft couldn't be entirely automated (yet) so that might feel like a distinction without a difference, but as a hobby author and an occasional artist/friend of professional freelance artists... I like playing with AI, I had a subscription to character. Ai for a couple months even. And I have a story I'd like to write someday spawned from that. But I'd never directly quote anything the AI said to me, because these things have been unethically trained on data scraped from all over the web -- so if you've got a text description of any of your soap designs anywhere, there's a very good chance your work was used for these models, without your knowledge or consent.
    So, yeah. I want AI that's trained ethically, and will be used ethically -- like you have, in this video, rather than replacing artists altogether.
    Sorry for the long winded soap box, just... Tldr you're doing AI content right lol

    I would love an AI series, but I'll be the negative naysayer here against it, as much as I find ChatGPT fascinating. I'm just worried that it may have stolen some of these design ideas from other creators, just like the art AI programs tend to do. But I'm guessing that this kind of crap happens all the time in soap making, where two creators just accidentally create the same soap design. If this really isn't an issue, then by all means, please make an AI series!

    just a reminder that A.I. takes the designs other humans put on the internet and will use them without credit. Maybe you don't care because "sharing is caring" but I hope you remember that even your designs will be used and you'll never see the product someone else made inspired by it because the A.I. gets the credit.
    I understand that crediting for inspiration is already not normalized but A.I. removes the ability to even consider proper credit.

    I love this soap! Agree with you on the pine needles idea and first obviously would've just made it perfect. I am personally mildly terrified of ai so I haven't used it yet but I've heard that it can be incredibly helpful so I will likely cave one day 😅😂

    While this was fun to watch, I don't think I would regularly watch a series around this premise. The reason that Chat GPT worked so well for giving you detailed information is because it scrapes that information from across the internet- in this case, other soap makers- without credit

    While I think the design is fine (which as others have said, it probably learned from you), could you imagine learning how to actually make cold process soap from AI? Lye is dangerous and unsourceable information is not a good way to learn how to safely use it and make a safe product in the end. And lets face it, the technique here was all you!
