    Cut the vinyl siding away in the mounting pad footprints? Sawsall, recip saw, etc? Lot easier than conjuring up a band saw and buying the PVC, sanding. Then caulk the seams.

    • @chrisburns5691
      @chrisburns5691 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, you could do that, add J trim and flashing, and attach solid blocking for the awning to mount too, and not have to worry about catching studs with the pre drilled holes in the awning.

    I see these prefab awnings offered more and more in home improvement stores so great idea to cover this in a video. Also I gave the same siding and wow, I would have never thought of that awesome template!

      This show only shops at one home improvement aka hardware store and that is Home Depot. So this more than likely came from there.

    That's a nice-looking awning, and well-installed, especially with those blocks for the vinyl siding. If I were the owner of that house, I'd have prioritized a replacement porch and stairs, because they looking like they're about ready to fall apart; have no handrail; and often, the size of the deck determines the size of the awning.

      @rickwallace2091 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, nail that down 1st, and then see what design and size of awning would work

      And having someone hold the pieces instead of something fixed for the pieces to rest on after going through the saw. Maybe the owner got very clear instructions, but it seems risky -- they might drift slightly to either side, leading to kickback. And then also not using a push stick at one point. I'd really like to see some safer job site table saw practices being featured.

    Nice project and I like the design of the awning. I however would have liked to see some sort of support ‘beams’ running from the front to the back of either side of the inside opening for a little more structural look.
