I know it’s been several years now but still, this gem of a game got robbed out of being game of the year, which it is despite god of war 4 getting it. That only happened because it had several previous successful games in the series while RDR2 only had a ‘moderately successful’ one, well two if undead nightmare is counted.
Must have been absolutely crazy to come upon this stuff in real life. A cabin full of dead people from a disease, suicide, freezing to death, or an Indian attack.
It’s insane how good this game is. I’ve played the whole storyline a lot of times, cause still to this day the gameplay, the graphics, the setting and the story itself keep bringing me back. And still, i keep finding new details, or side missions i didn’t know about. It’s truly a masterpiece.

People complain about Rockstar Games taking such massive amounts of time between releases. I personally will wait 10 years for the type of quality products they release because I know I'll be playing them for at least 5 years. That said, I don't know if anything will ever come together as perfectly as Rdr2 did. It's a shame they never released any DLC for story mode. I'd have been happy with a Charles / Sadie storyline during the time Arthur was on Guarma, a Mexico DLC with John, or even just an Undead Nightmare

because it is a lie. this has nothing to do with a playtime. all he did was watch youtube vids about these and copied them and made a clickbait title. you can also see this in a way that he reacts to nothing and just tries to keep his camera movement slow for a vid, that is 100% unrealistic for first time encounter
Same encounter but he didn’t stick around long enough during the first encounter to get all of the dialogue. He just left the house too fast she usually says “my sons are going to kill you” or “ima go get my sons” if you don’t immediately leave the cabin.
You cut out the best part of the Watson's Cabin encounter, the old lady hops on her donkey and rides off to get her sons. I usually just start ransacking the place in front of her because it's the same result either way. I'm just not sure if the encounter is different if you don't take anything at all, since she'd technically have no reason to get her sons to try to kill you. You ran away and missed the best part though lmao. Also if all this stuff took you over 2000 hours to find I have to ask what you were doing in all that time beforehand then? Just because I found the majority of what was shown on my first playthrough before ever hitting 200 hours, let alone close to 2000 lmao.
I mean, it’s the same idea as hidden packages or collectibles in the GTA games. Sure, maybe if you explore a lot, 200 hours gets you 80% of everything. But what about that last 20%? Maybe “200 hours” was really just playing through a bunch and fucking around, and you’re not just focused on seeing every square inch. How do you know what you did and didn’t see? Well, 200 hours later, maybe you caught half of the remaining 20%. Again, say you’re not focused on literally turning every stone, you’re just fucking around and hunting or getting into trouble a lot too or mainly playing online or something. Well it’s been 400 hours now, and still 10% of everything hasn’t been discovered. Again, looking back through the map, do you remember _exactly_ every square inch you covered and _exactly_ everywhere you’ve been? Most likely not for the most forgettable and open areas. It’s not like most gamers will take on the task of walking in every building, around every tree, behind every boulder. The last 10% is in areas you’re already more unlikely to pass by unless you intend to see EVERYTHING. But not everyone plays the game to rigorously see EVERYTHING. So maybe in the next 200 hours of doing whatever it is they’re doing, they organically come across another 2% of the remaining undiscovered bits. It takes way longer to find these last dregs, because they’re progressively more and more unlikely to come by, spread apart, and more time will pass between each new discovery. So my first 200 hours got me 80% of everything, but I’m 600 hours in and I’ve found 92% of everything. Now I’m 800 hours in and I’ve found 93% of everything. And so on… and so on… Remember, the aim of this person might not have been “use every minute to explore as much as I possibly can” yet they might have wanted to find every new thing organically instead of looking up guides or videos. So the fact that you yourself said you found the “majority” of this in the time you put in instead of “all” of this is exactly how it almost always goes… it certainly doesn’t justify mocking that extra amount of time. But you’re not the first comment I’ve come across expressing that idea
In the house where you found the second Otis miller book you actually missed what assumably killed that family. If you jump on the roof you will find a meteor that hit the house. Just found this the other day
i have a theory that a lot of this stuff is related to side quests that were never fully implemented before they ran out of time and had to rush the game to market
The bear bit is such bull. :( You can kill it with ONE SHOT **IMMEDIATLY** afterwards, but it's invincible to kill the guy. It's a cut scene that cuts you off like you're not standing RIGHT there.
The smoke inhalation one makes no sense. How do you not see that much smoke? The death positions suggest they were conscious before passing out, so they would have known.
You actually can save tuker friend from the bear. Not sure how but I did that once using tomchowk and blocking bears way towards hunter. But usually when you just shoot bear it doesn't kill him like it normally would even with big kaliber guns
If they do make a RD3, i would love to be able to play as different characters with a limited amount of mission for each character of course. I would love to play as Micah or Charles in their younger days before they met Dutch.

I think it's a great detail but it's also to imply that John never really focused on learning how to write or sketch very well. Arthur mentions that this is a new journal, so he's probably been writing/sketching ever since Hosea taught him to, John might've picked up bits and pieces here and there as a youth (indicated by the fact he draws straight lines to write on, a practice that used to be taught to young children before paper had lines printed on it as standard), but never did much else with it until he got Arthur's journal.
