My family is also thinking to use solar power... because seeing the current situation there no way going out of this load shedding problem..so it's better we go on the alternatives..it's expensive but it's just for one time..at least we have the electricity 24 hours
About 2 years ago we have a solar system in our house about 14 to 15 plates it can 2 to 3 AC all lights and refrigerator and all other appliances.due to this we have no worry about load shedding. It is very best as compare to generator or any other thing

We bought ups 10 years ago bcoz load shedding was common those days.... nowadays.....it hardly happens......and even if load shedding happens.... it is immediately fixed and the light comes with 30 mins or hardly 1 hour.....india also had the same problem....but now this is completely fixed....I hope for the same to Pakistan also
Can't be said of everywhere in India. India recently faced coal shortage too.. BTW Nepal is supplying it's extra electricity to India.. (ps: I'm Indian BTW, and yeah it's not as bad as Pakistan)

We have been using Solar Panel Powered System, it doesn't mean if you have solar system than you don't need wapda. It's just means that 70% of your bill will be cut down.

Depends on how big is the gallery and how much sunlight it gets. If you want to run just a 1~1.5 ton AC, then 3.6 kVA setup will be more than enough and for that 5 to 6 solar plates and they will definitely take a lot of space around 3 corolla cars to put into perspective.
You can utilize terrace or if you able to convince owners for setting up solar solution for the building it will be suitable for all residents of the building imagine no bill and 24/7! renewable energy you may consider to have electric oven for cooking

I live in mumbai and never faced power outage of this magnitude in entire life , maybe one hour every year or six months. If Karachi being financial capital of Pakistani and still facing power outage this is very bad situation.

One thing fellow Pakistanis don't know is that the newly made Chinese powerhouse are actually coal based and and these powerhouse were meant to provide electricity to the production units .. The production mainly goes to US and Europe market however after introduction of carbon tax it's gonna be tough.. Karachi has chinese power plant of 1200 MW which suppose to be operational on mid of last year, what happen to it no one tried to know it. Sahiwal coal power plant costing more then thermal power plant master piece of its kind. Nothing is at its place except incompetency and corruption.
Some of my uncles in Defense, Karachi have solar power. My mom recently attended some weddings there and she was really impressed. No loadshedding, 24/7 power. If you can afford it, do it!

I have been on solar since 4 years. Everyone should get at least a 1000w solar system. A 1000w system can meet basic needs of every household. Remember cost of electricity will keep going up because dollar will keep rising, inflation will always increase, value of rupee will keep going down and the more expensive electricity becomes, the more it will be stolen, the more govt will increase power cost. The only way out is to invest in solar. With a net metering setup you will recover all your money in 4 years.
