    So many memories in this video, what I would give to go back and sit on the center console in Dad's WB and HJ utes he had when I was 6 or 7, or my uncle's loud HQ 1 tonner with the golf ball gear stick, or Dad's VT he got brand new for work, (I had never been in anything with such a quiet engine), or my VZ Ute I sold 3 years ago because I needed a 4x4. My HG I bought as a project then sold because the rust was too extensive and expensive to fix, my HZ which is sitting in the shed while I spend about 3 hours a month stripping the body, mum's VE which we bought almost brand new and hasn't missed a beat in 315,000km and counting, Dad's VE SSV which spends most of its time in the shed immaculately still on 30,000km, even the HJ Station Wagon mum owned long before I was born and the 2 Rodeo's and Colorado dad had before his current Colorado. Every one of these Holdens hold a special place in my heart and even though they are not built anymore I hope I haven't owned my last Australian built Holden.

    Good on ya all...I'm a Ford nutcase fan since a kid but hugely respect the mighty Holden brand . There are plenty of Holdens that you wouldn't need to hold a gun to my head to enjoy lets just say . My favourites are the EH , HR and VF . My uncle had an HR Premier with red upholstery I remember very well . Even had the wheel spats and venetian shade too ...

    My Dad had an old FJ ute he used it in the bush around Manjimup. You could by them for $20 . He then used an EH ute for work. Collected rain water on the vinyl canopy. Lift the Dot. My first Holden was an EJ Station Wagon wirh a silent running 129 Grey motor. It had a Diamond Dot radio but no heater demister. I drove around Albanys cold wet winters in a jacket and ugg boots. Wow....then came a HK Kingswood....HGs...HQs....panel vans and cars. Even a 1 tonne ute with no side panels that my dog fell off a number of times at low speed when he saw roos. Now I have a 2006 Adventra lx for 13 years hoping it goes up in value....use it for long trips and firewood cutting. Thats 55 years of Holdens there people! And I was born in Wales!

      Get the Chevrolet SS sedan, it's a rebadged Holden Commodore VF. It is unfortunate that GM killed Pontiac though because they were planning to release the Holden Ute as a Pontiac G8 ST and many Americans seem to like the idea of a V8 powered RWD car with a tub/tray/bed on the rear

    Lets be honest here. The only 60's Holden that did not vanish in a cloud of rust was the EH.
    Even the 70's HQ was a rust bucket. Holden continued to produce cars with built in water traps for many years. When I bought my 74 HQ I had the whole car rust proofed, Still did not stop rust getting to it, as the roof went rotten, sweating under the vinyl top.
    If I could turn back time I'd go buy a new 64 EH 179. My personal choice as the pick of the bunch. Worst rust bucket award has to go to the 65 HD.
    I don't think Australians are unpatriotic, I think they just want better cars.

    the one off design they wanted for the first car in 1948 was in fact rejected by General Motors because they already had a design that ticked all the boxes and they were not going to go through the hassle of proving a new design....!!! So they tweaked an existing American design
    The best looking one for me everybody is different

In the end I felt sorry for it and turned it off. I sent 5 Fbs and Eks to the crusher at Simsmetals and two of them were still running. Old greys were one tough son of a bitch motor and would rather do a valve than shit the motor.

    Did Holden ever built own cars or did they just modify existing cars from his parent company (General Motors)?

    Simply...Holden made "1 CAR" in ALL that time...a RWD family sedan and didn't move with tech and the times and were left behind. You just CAN'T run a company like that and expect to survive...and they didnt

    • @cj-fh4nx
      @cj-fh4nx ปีที่แล้ว

      Holden didn't have "1 car", they had many cars that were mostly just built in other countries.

    The best Holdens were based on Chev origins the 215 being the first, the EH was the start of the local designs, then the HQ to HZ, VBs to VK were shit, VLs were Nissan powered, because unlike Ford Falcon, Holden wasn't set to change to unleaded petrol mid 80s. They have always been at the mercy of GM, just like Ford Australia was, and now their numbers up.

    Hilarious, the 48-215 was not designed in Australia it was designed by the GM America after they laughed at the Aussie design. Get ya facts straight guys.
