Hey Andy, I live down 30 mins away from Beaumont Texas where we got hit hard. We really appreciate all the support. People have lost so much here it's heart breaking. I would love to make the drive up north and learn from you one day, but I feel like we will be busy rebuilding here for a while. Keep up the awesome channel!
no name hope you and your neighbors luck with the rebuild. This is why I won't live in an area known for repeated natural disasters. It is too stressful and too expensive. Been in tornados and hurricanes when stationed around for the Army, swore I would never live in those areas voluntarily. Beautiful area until mother nature gets angry. Best of luck.
Glad to hear that you and your family a fine, it's pretty bad in Spring Texas I know have family there but nothing compared to the coast line just pure devastation it's going to take so many years before these people are going to be somewhat normal. Just really good seeing neighbors helping each other and doing it as soon as they could good ol Texas
It's been a long time since I first started watching this channel and it has always inspired me to do my own woodworking projects. I've learned a lot of techniques and helpful tips along the way and I've always admired you for that. I've always wanted to see you build a longboard or a skateboard to see how you would to it. I know it might veer off the vibe of building furniture but a little something different won't hurt. Anyways, love your videos, keep up the amazing work.
mugglesmonster spoke shaves and hand router planes are usually quite a bit quicker than setting up and using a power router. Plus, no electricity required.
Andy, I very much enjoy your videos. I find there is a quiet joy in seeing the beauty your hands have made. Here is a question I hope you can answer since I am lacking knowledge. I know 'they' speak of bamboo as being stronger than some woods and a much better renewable resource. Have you ever worked with any? Have you ever wanted to try using bamboo for a project?
Nice little rack though you have a major flaw, you've only left yourself room for 2 more saws and we all know that saw buying is a neverending affliction.
Hey Andy, I live in Houston and I've been helping people demo their houses all week. Me and my family have decided hat we want to build cabinets for all of the people who have lost theirs in the flood. I want to say that you're an inspiration of mine and I enjoy watching you, do you have any tips or tricks that we should know for making a bunch of nice cabinets?
Gee .. when I lived Austin and San Antonio, I never thought Wimberly was in San Anton ... BUT, I loved the whole region .. San Marcos, Marble Falls, Wimberly .. BEAUTIFUL!. Your work does it all justice.
Fantastic project, very elegant and simple. Two questions, if you don't mind: 1) Is that Cosman dovetail saw? 2) I've found that making wood holders for metal tools such that the metal is always in contact with the wood induces a lot of rust formation on the metal, far more than if they were not in constant contact with wood. Is that your experience too and do you care in this situation?
Tjalling keep thr blades oiled or waxed, that helps. Also, you could make a till like this and use a piece of PVC pipe or a cheap plastic cutting board from the dollar store for the metal contact points. You can still put the grooves in either.
I love to support Texas woodworkers. You said you know alot of woodworkers in the Houston area or I'm sure all over Texas. Do any of them have TH-cam channels? If so I would love to check them out!!!! Could you give a list of some??? BTW love your work!!!!
I live just south of houston in a little town called ganado a lot of my friends homes were damaged by their tree limbs and even their trees falling on their houses
Beautiful video Andy! One suggestion on the video front though: maybe can you try and use the further away/ zoomed out shots when you're showing repetitive work because you can't really see what your doing! Still really nice though, just something that works for me so thought i'd suggest :)
love the project and the skill to build it, not so sure on the fiddly fuck about withe the blade to put it in place tho. Very very nice dovetails dude and the chamfer with a spoke shave wow
Please show us the completed project you are building up front, how it works, pros and cons, so we can decide early on if we need to watch the whole video.
I'm gonna plan in getting some more hand saws and other hand tools but the only really electric tool I use is a miter saw and my band saw and sometimes my drill press but I dont use my last power tool which is my table saw I'm scared of it I'm turning 15 in 3 days so the fence on the table saw is junk that's why I don't use it it wants to mover and my cuts are off and I'm just gonna make one at this point
Yiu got me into hand tools my dad had hand planners from his dad and gave them to me after when I got into wood working but he never knew his dad so he never used them and I use my hand saws when I am patient
Nice project, and while I admire your work in the videos I've seen, my back aches watching you saw at this bench. It appears to be right for hand planing, but you could sure use an add-on to raise your work when sawing/chiseling. I face the same challenge myself.
Where do you purchase your wood materials from? Do you have an actual wood store you get them from or is it something like a home depot or other hardware store?
What is the name of the tool that has the 90 degree chisel below the level handles used on the bottom of those dovetails ? Ive never seen it before and now I must get one
I am surprised not to see any Japanese pull saws in your collection. They are used extensively in timber framing for long straight cuts to tight tolerances.
Badger Workshop go out and build one. Anybody can buy one or pay someone else to build one custome. The enjoyment of using something you have crafted yourself is a special feeling you just can't get any other way.
I'm passionate about your work. It's fascinating what you can do with the wood. I accompany all your videos, if you gave me the opportunity to be your apprentice I would drop everything here in Brazil and would be running to your country kkk ... Seriously.
I had to poke around to find it, but it looks to be a Lie-Nielsen router plane. They have a few models on their site, this one being the large, "closed throat" version.
I want to see a full hour long video of you making a log into a toothpick just to see the satisfying wood curls
josh mullins spokeshave
josh mullins that would be epic and viral
josh mullins agreed. That would fantastic. And then he uses it or like flicks it on the ground.

Thumbs up for the sharing the love to us fellow Houstonians. Keep up the good work!

That came out so good. It's relaxing watching how precise you are with all your tools
That's a nice dovetail.
With all of the fallen trees from hurricane Harvey, now would be a good time to own a Wood-Mizer.
Mr. Krabs and a good sized trailer like Matt Cremona's.
That basketball fail at the end
I know Irma hit Key West pretty good which thank god I went there over the summer. But I am glad you made it out through the hurricane.
That small crevice chisel is my favorite character in this show.
I really enjoy all of the neat carving tools you use in place of other tools
mugglesmonster spoke shaves and hand router planes are usually quite a bit quicker than setting up and using a power router. Plus, no electricity required.
Can you create video about your tools ?
Yes please
Your videos sound like therapy to me thank you
Your an amazing carpenter and I hope to be able to do the things you do when I am older

Backlash in Kentucky, we got a little wind and a lot of rain, kind of filpped from your area.
Well done. Congratulations. I'm just wondering if it will be practical.
Nice little rack though you have a major flaw, you've only left yourself room for 2 more saws and we all know that saw buying is a neverending affliction.
Nice work. You make those joints look easy.
He's an exacting craftsman and a spartan workman . . . must be part Amish.

Smitty!!! Wood, cheap, you remove.
Then insurance claims wait, and rebuild. As long as no one was hurt is the important thing.
