It was a trip, totally blew me away. I hope you all enjoy this song and the breakdown, and I'm looking forward to all of you correcting my mistakes and all of us collectively deciphering the messages!
Other music provided in the video is by none other than Brock Berrigan
Song is called "Sleepwalking". Be sure to check him out on Spotify as well!
I appreciate anyone that is willing to break this down. I’m sure Aes is grateful anyone wants to “employ my waste” ☮️
past my alarm's cackling - it's a dream
first time hearing this track. liked your video a lot! i dug the anchor in the back pocket part of these lyrics too. subbed 🙂👍
One of my all time favourite pieces of work from AES. great breakdown on the track
You're the realest Aes breakdown guy that I'm aware of. It's good to hear what others think since there's only 1 person in my life that gets it
I appreciate the kind words!
Bro I literally have never met another person who sees the genius and appreciates iy
I wish I knew even 1 other person who appr3ciates aes
I had a legit argument with my wife a few years ago cause I listened to too much Aesop and she was tired of all the words. Lol I never really relented now she’s a fan of some of his simpler stuff like Kirby and Kyanite Toothpick off the new album.
Older Aes is much harder to dissect that I don’t even bother trying lmao I’m glad that you’re giving it the effort here
i’ve always thought of this verse describing the passage of time.
‘adrenaline trades the leaves that walk the plank before the crimson struck a match this season’
winter came too quickly, before the leaves had a chance to change colors.
then a christmas reference to ‘merry men’ later.
as for the rest, much of aes’ work focuses on his struggle’s within himself, and i believe this song is no different.
many times he’ll refer to ‘ogres’ or ‘dragons’.
they could symbolize his own demons.
Aes is an insane artist to digest, I commend you for tackling this 👍🏾🔥
Aesop raps entirely in metaphors and I love. We all do here. I like how you dissect his verses to the core. Keep it up!
I’ve never heard this remix before. This is actually a super dope beat
I wonder if the "tree trunk made of third rail with tourniquet branches" is a kind of weak or volatile foundation, possibly referring to society or even to family (like family tree?)
I'm going over it in my head while driving and love how there are so many interesting ways to interpret his cryptic-ass lyrics
Water. By aesop. Another masterpiece.
Its a short one but you should cover Ruby '81. It is one of his most underrated tracks. It's a real story told only how Aes could.
Meridian carpal could be a middle finger? I dunno
Hey bro, since you're such an enjoyer, have you heard his joints with the Grimace Federation?
There's 3 of them that I know of, all of them bangers - BOSICO, Strange Hours and Catch 22.
You'd love them, that I know.
I'll give em a listen! Thanks for the recommendation
Go listen to tugboat complex too man you’ll enjoy
This version seems different
That’s cause this is classik Aes. I haven’t heard this one in so long. This is one of those really complex records of his that I’d come back to periodically every 3 or 4 years or so.
Agreed. Sounds slightly slowed down.
