This is one dangerous ass job. Having to stand in there with ice and water splashing in. I work construction this is wayyyy more sketchy. Respect to you guys.
Very cool seeing this video. I work at UniSea in the Cod plant and see this boat in all the time. Beautiful boat and very cool seeing it at work. Appreciate the vid
Found you from your sister's channel and have been watching you for a while. This is a great video and loved seeing how you work. Would love to see more of these videos. Keep up the great work! 💯
Pelagic fisherman from Ireland here. Interesting to see how yous guys fish but I noticed your boats a very old style design, no hate just wondering how come yous don't build more modern vessels?
Just subscribed. I have an opportunity to be a deck hand on a boat this season. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about it. Ya know seasickness, anxiety, maybe a little claustrophobic. Just the feeling of not having control I suppose. Any words of advice from experienced fisherman? I still have a chance to say no and I wouldnt want to waste anybodies time by going up and working a week and freaking out haha... The captain and I are meeting up Monday to discuss things and that might put some of my worries at ease. I feel like I need the challenge and would be proud of myself if I stick it out and work hard. It's also only 3 months so it's not that bad. but man I just can't shake this feeling of anxiety can't even really put my finger on what I am worried about.. maybe I just need to sack up hahaha.
As a south Floridian who has never seen snow? I’d die 🤷🏼♀️ I’d physically die. I already know it. At 65 degrees I’m all covered up like I’m facing a blizzard. I’d die
How do you get into this line of work? Serious question. I've been considering doing this for years. I'm 29, healthy & fit. Work hard. I have nothing keeping me in florida. I'd love to spend half the year at sea.
99% of inshore fisherman have either grown up doing it or atleast know people in the industry. But like it would be easy enough to go down to an unloading or loading ward and ask people if they know anyone looking for a deckhand. And for the offshore industry I’m not as sure but I’d say it’s much the same but a good chunk of those people will be factoring ur workers rather than fisherman so it’s easier to get a job on those boats
Also inshore means within 100 nautical miles of land which is roughly 180 kms and is made up by smaller boats with crews of around 2-5 on average. Offshore is past the 100 nautical mile mark and is made up by the big factory trawlers with massive crews of like 100 people and they stay out at sea for 3 months at a time
I’m from Washington. Seattle is my nearest airport. I’ve wanted to get into commercial fishing have no experience im 19 and can pass a drug test. Have any tips ? I’m open to travel
