Thank you so much for all of your support. I'm sorry I haven't been able to respond to all your incredibly kind comments but please know that I'm always reading them and sending you so much love. Your encouragement has kept me going so many more times than I can count.
Omg I really wish I could go to your workshop but I live in Brazil 😢 One day maybe I'll go, please post the workshop vlogs, It will be my way of joining you girls ❤
I never clicked so fast in my life! divorced 2 years ago, started ballet 3 months ago, I'm 29 and turning 30 in April! I was part of our Winter Showcase for the studio and will be in Swan Lake in May. Hang in there, girl!! You are strong, you are smart, you are beautiful, you ARE a dancer, and you've got this!
I really dislike dance teachers who are unprofessional and discourage dance students. I’ve personally experienced those kinds of teachers and at times have walked out because it’s not the kind of “teaching” I want to receive. Thank you for sharing your journey. I can relate in some ways as I’m myself am dealing with an injury and question my relationship to dance. I’m glad to see you are doing better. And, I can see a ballerina in you. You look amazing! I also see the other parts of you in other kinds of dance. You look wonderful & great! 🙌🏼🙏🏼💃🏻✨
I was a dancer for many years and never experienced such a horrible experience in class! You need to stay away from that teacher. When I saw the title of your video and it said an adult beginner, I expected something different. You actually dance beautifully and I would not classify you as a beginner. You definitely have potential. You have nice extension and beautiful arms. Keep up the good work and don’t let teachers like that crush your dreams. Please find a new studio. That experience is not normal - especially in an adult class where they know you aren’t a professional ballerina! You did amazing in the jazz class! By the way, you and your partner seem to have a good chemistry 😊
I've danced, and taught dance, most of my life--decades! And you have incredible natural ability! And, since I'm a brand-new subscriber, I don't know when you started dance, but please keep at it...for a lifetime of "coming home!" Also, when I went through a bad, bad break-up, dance got me through it!
I'm happy to see you focusing on moving forward despite challenges. Keep following your dreams despite the meanies and nay-sayers. You're in NYC and making it happen!! You're so brave and inspiring to me! YOU are creating a space that is welcoming and nurturing to adult ballet dancers which is much needed right now. Like you said...the teacher was 'old school' in her thinking and treatment of you. That's exactly the kind of attitude that needs to go if ballet is to evolve and flourish for future generations. Of course professional dancers and companies have their space, but I'm so excited that people like you are making ballet accessible to a variety of other people who have a love and passion for it as a form of expression. Wishing you all the best in the New Year, Veronica! XOX
You're doing great. I had a breakup at 31 and it was also a 10 year relationship and I was broken for a couple of years. You're functioning, you're working, you're dancing and you're smiling. That's a massive win no matter what else happens.
Hi Veronica! I attended ABA in the fall and wanted to just pop in and send you love. Your mindset and energy in every class was so infectious and I know this next year is going to bring amazing things for you. Thank you for sharing your journey! We are all here for you :)
@@viviank9120 VIVIAN!!! So good to see you here. Thank you for bringing such a beautiful energy to class every week and thank you for taking the time to be so encouraging now. 💕💕 I hope you’re doing well out there and that year brings you so much growth and happiness!
Thank you for this video! I'm currently recovering after an ankle surgery and I can't even walk without walking aids yet so getting back to ballet feels so out of reach right now... But seeing you slowly getting back to it makes me feel way better - I'm sure I'll be back too, not soon, maybe even not this year, but at some point I will. And I can't stress enough how the attitude of the teacher can make you extra motivated or just want to quit right away, I know they are just people but sometimes I wish they would recognise this responsibility a little bit more. Also watching you enjoy this jazz class was so nice, you looked so free there, like you were having so much fun:) You are truly an inspiration to me, I'm so glad I found your videos
I never comment here but our lives are so similar that I just wanted to say… hang in there! I’m an adult ballet dancer aged 54. I found dance in 2019. That was after a very hurtful separation from my husband of 20 years when I found out he cheated on me. 2024 saw me fighting a hostile legal battle with my ex, I fell badly Ill twice that year leading to being bed bound for weeks at a time, and work was so bad that I burnt out. I felt that I had lost myself, and not even dance seemed to help any more. But guess what. It will come back, it will get better, and whatever happens, never let anyone else tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. You are a dancer. You are a ballet dancer. Ignore the old fashioned matron with the mean vibes and you do you. You are strong, even if you don’t feel like it. From one bruised and beaten up ballet dancer and woman to another, you are doing awesome, keep shining! Xx
Wow, our lives are EXTREMELY similar. Thank you for taking the time to share all of this. It’s really encouraging to hear from someone who has been through so much similar pain and is on the other side of it. You’re a real role model for so many people ❤ congratulations on taking your life back
I'm sorry you had that experience going back into class, especially after all that you've gone through leading up to going back. I think your resilience outshined anything that instructor could've projected onto you. You are breaking glass ceilings on an industry that hasn't changed much since it first began which I know you are perfectly aware of because of how you proudly show the highs and lows of your journey. I have no doubt that your passion and hard work will continue to pay off and that you didn't come this far just to come this far! Always rooting for you girly in no matter what it is that you do so long as you are following your heart and soul's desires!! xx
@@RessaRose oh my goodness you absolutely beautiful soul. It’s always such a joy watching your journey too and I can’t thank you enough for taking the time out of your no doubt busy schedule to encourage me. Thanks a million girl. Always rooting for you too 💕
I've never commented before on your page. But can I just say as a complete Ballet nerd bordering on stupidly obsessed! Your little excerpts in the variation class of you dancing were quite nice to see from an adult ballerina. The way you're able to move is lovely! I sometimes think people like that teacher are here to challenge us; kind of like a big eff you to the universe, that spiteful spark that keeps us going. Best of luck to you dear 💜 I'm so happy you've picked up ballet again.
12:59 variation class is always a very hard class for me at least. I know people are saying that it's usually for more advanced dancers (I agree) but the clips that she showed from class were of the Bluebird variation from Sleeping Beauty. That variation is normally the first one you learn, and even though it was hard, I think she was ready for that particular variation. Additionally I have also gone through things that made me stop dancing. I cannot express how hard it is to be cut off of something special to you. I'm so proud of you for starting back up again ❤
Idk how the ballet community can continue to complain about the art form dying and not having enough interest and then behave like that “teacher” did 🙄
It’s definitely difficult to feel welcomed and motivated in classes like that. But I can also take responsibility for the fact that I’m coming back into the ballet world in a hypersensitive state. I don’t think she was trying to be malicious but certainly right now I’m looking for more uplifting spaces while healing, in many ways.
@@VeronicaVacanza idk, I think there’s a way to be helpful and give feedback without being condescending. It was CLEAR in your footage during class that you’ve DEFINITELY taken ballet before and she didn’t have to ask that
@@Belakarw kind of, but what is obvious is that v hasnt followed any structured training. It would actually help her… unfortunately its not a style you can ‘wing’ and learn from drop ins but I think v looks super natural dancing jazz/heels
@@asantos704 what difference do you see between doing regular drop ins and tuition? As an adult, unless you sign up for graded ballet, you do learn from those classes. She attended a class that wasn't maybe suited for her, was humbled and survived. I did a runner from a 2 day workshop after first hour and a half upon realising that Intermediate level I knew from my classes wasn't consistent with Intermediate level there. Since then I have the mentality of - even if I end up being a forever beginner/advanced beginner, that's fine, I am still doing ballet to my personal capacity. Not the right class, not the right teacher, it happens.
I'm glad you're in good health and hoping 2025 goes better for you!! Also, that mean ballet teacher is EXACTLY why we need more people like you in the ballet world. There are too many people in ballet who feel entitled to treat people poorly. But you're always so encouraging and a bright light to all dancers. You've created a community of positivity built on a love for dance that welcomes everyone the traditional ballet world has rejected. It's a beautiful thing and very needed!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I can even give the teacher the benefit of the doubt and say I don’t even think she intended to be mean or malicious, but was just a bit gruff. I’m obviously in a particularly sensitive state and it wasn’t the best space for me on that moment, but that’s life sometimes. It means the world that you’re here and that you’re such a positive person though! Thank you ❤
I don't usually leave comments, but your vlog really touched my heart. You are very very strong for sharing vulnerable side. I'm also an adult ballet student and you were always my goal. Maybe It won't make it better, but for some of us you are reminder to not to give up on your dreams - really you pushed me into ballet when all I could think its im too old (at 26). I would love to hug you and tell you that you're so inspiring to others, but don't forget about you! Sending all warm hugs
@@karolinabandolet2721 omg I’m sending you so many big squeezy hugs!! Feeling so grateful to have such a kind soul like you here. Thank you for taking the time to be so encouraging 💕 wishing you so much joy this year
I'm SO glad you did that jazz class, if you hadn't have said you were going to do that I was about to suggest in the comments you could take a different style class alongside ballet because I've recently done that kinda thing too. I'm a beginner ballet dancer, only started in June (I did ballet as a kid and basically got told i wasn't good enough). And now I'm in my late 20s in an adult ballet class - but a lot of the class either never gave up ballet when they were a kid but did stop as adults and are now like 45 and restarted a few years back, or they joined this adult class from the start so have been doing ballet for the past 5 years. And my teacher isnt discouraging but doesn't feel encouraged either and theres no other adult ballet classes in my town. So it often leads me to feeling like I'm shit because we often do stuff thats advanced or like grade 4 or 5 so i feel i cant do it. But I recently saw my friend whos been doing freestyle since she was 4 and is now 28 so a long time perform and i thought I wouldn't mind trying that so now I do ballet and freestyle on different nights at different dance schools and freestyle is so much easier for me, I can almost do what my friend can do even though I'm a complete beginner and I enjoy it and I feel like I'm more confident in ballet by doing freestyle, makes me feel less hopeless in dance, like I CAN dance & feel encouraged, even though I struggle with ballet but refuse to quit.
I’m so sorry that you had such a rough year. You seem such a vibrant and inspiring person and I hope you can find healing after the hard times. I’ve always enjoyed your videos and following along your journey, you actually inspired me to restart ballet last year! Sending you much love ❤️
So so proud of you and all that you continue to do while overcoming so much! Thank you for sharing your journey in such an amazing way. Your storytelling is always superb and inspiring!! Sending you a huge hug and lots of positive vibes!
Hi Veronica, so sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been going through. Hope 2025 will be a better year for you! Please continue to do ballet, I really enjoy your videos. :)
I hope your relationship to your spirit and art flourishes even if the flies around you want to be negative or disparaging. You have a spark and even if it feels dim, it'll always be there because it's YOU. No matter what you do, may you always feel your unique you. There's no one you-er than you as Dr.Seuss said! I am glad you share yourself here--its such a gift to give and receive you. It's been such a great to take these minutes and share in your you.
Hey lovely I'm sorry you went through so much. I have been dealing with so much crap lately constant burnouts lack of motivation. I'm glad I watched this video and now I want to get back to dance again. I believe 2025 will now be a good time to dance more be more educated and just let go of life challenges that may throw at us.
I am returning to ballet for the 3rd time as an adult. I really want this time to stick but I am joining late and pray that my insecurities won’t force me down. We can do this together. ❤ Thank you for being so inspiring.
Absolutely thrilled seeing your video pop up!! I'm so sorry for everything you have gone through, but seeing your smile throughout this video and seeing how much fun you are having getting back into dance is so inspiring. You are such a gem to watch and listen to (also beautiful singing as well!). I turned 29 in October so the big 30 is coming up this year and I am just now starting ballet again after over 15 years of not touching it. I am so in love with it all over again and I have you to thank for that!! There is a long way to go yet, but I know it will be worth it! So thank you for everything and I hope things keep looking up for you!
Heyy🩷Don't let anyone take away your smile and your charisma( I don’t know if this was a correct sentence)you’re such a talented dancer and I really like to watch you dance-you are a huge inspiration for me, a little dancer. I love you and your videos so much and I admire you for all you‘ve done. Big hug from Germany🩷🩰
im so glad you’re back again!!☺️ I am so sorry you have not been doing well in life, but I love how you are always positive and keep pushing forward! keep going my fav ballerina, you got it🩰💕
You are inspiring me and making me feel more comfortable about starting my own late bloomer ballet journey. I am 27 and just starting. Thank you for being you!!!
I'm glad you came back! Also did your terribly taught variations class kinda inspire the variations workshop? Because if so, I'm glad you could turn something frustrating into something beautiful and the workshop was so fun!
Actually I started my variation workshops earlier this year which is kind of why I was confused about this one. The teachers running mine would normally start with a barre warm up so I didn’t realize it wasn’t standard practice. But thank you for your encouragement! It seems that a lot of variation classes start without a warm up, which now I definitely know for the future! But it’s all a learning process!
I just looked yesterday if there were any new videos from you bc I was missing you. I was wondering how you were with your injury and I clicked right away when I saw you posted. You are recovered…what a relief to see you dancing again! I’m so sorry about the break up of your marriage. It was a tough year for you. Don’t allow a teacher to discourage you from your passion for ballet. Find a teacher or studio that encourages students not tear them down. It speaks volumes about themselves. I went to a studio where the teacher actually just ignored me. That is just as bad as how the teacher treated you. I now have a teacher who corrects me and is so kind and patient. You are a ballerina so don’t let anyone discourage you. I agree with ballet injury prevention and allowing your body to rest. The body lets us know when we need it but we have to stop and listen. Happy to see you again!!!
Thank you soooo much for such a kind hearted message! You’re so sweet! And I’m really really glad to know you have a teacher you can trust now 💕 everyone deserves to learn in the way that makes them feel most encouraged!
@@VeronicaVacanza You are such a sweet person and very pretty. I think bc you’re so friendly and open women get intimated by that and they like to tear down to test if you’re really that sweet. Being over 50 I’ve had to learn that over the years. When women act like that I find it’s better to hold back your warmth to women like that. Silent calm demeanor will incur more respect especially in ballet. Loving that you’re back posting! 💜
Devastated about the news but you are such a resilient, winderful person!!! You go girl!!!!🎉🎉🎉 sending lots of positive vibes - you inspire a lot of us!
Hi Veronica! Thank you SO much for recording your ballet journey. I started watching you about a year ago or so and you are such an inspiration!!! Thank you for being honest and transparent about your life struggles and difficulties. I find this to be very relatable since social media is usually a highlight reel 😅 thank you for being vulnerable and being you ❤️ you are amazing at ballet and I look forward to continue following your ballet journey! May this year and beyond bring you many blessings 🙏🏾
14:43 I know a little bit how you feel. A couple years ago my health went for a real down turn and I was diagnosed with pots and anemia. At the same time the ballet mistress at my school left and was replaced with a truly nasty woman. At the time I was so miserable and in so much pain I wanted to quit ballet even though it had been my only real passion but luckily my parents talked me out of it. After some time taking a step back I realized it wasn’t a lack of love for ballet but rather dark times driving those thoughts. My advice would be never to quit something while your thoughts and feelings are in a dark place. You deserve all of the time and support you need but if you quit now when it’s the most enticing you might regret it later. I hope your life improves and I hope you know that your dancing is truly beautiful. That woman is likely in a dark place herself and is unfortunately taking it out on you. P.s. I am so jealous of your gorgeous extensions❤
I loved this video! I’m proud of you Veronica! You made an important point about having a safe space. I’m sad that you didn’t have one at one point, but I think it’s really amazing that you are able to create that for so many people! Thank you for being one of the few people I trust to take class with! Thank you for creating your workshops and inviting people into the dance space!
Ballet can be such a mind-shattering phenomenon to engage with! When I was eleven, some ballet teachers - and some girls at my school - said really mean-hearted things to me. At the time, I thought that my teachers were giving me “tough love”, but I really do think that there’s a difference between giving someone honest and direct notes, and really relishing crushing their spirits. I think bullies - irrespective of their ballet status - should be embarrassed. It’s an ugly behaviour, and you are clearly a beautiful person!
You are literally one of my favourite dancers, you can see the love you have for the sport in your movements somehow it’s stunning ❤️❤️❤️ sending you so much love, things fall apart before you get your dream life 💋
I love that we share our love for not only Ballett but also jazz 💃I actually started with jazz and your videos always motivate me to also go to ballet 🙃 I also love ballet but I feel like it’s easier to enjoy Jazz sometimes because in ballet there is even more technical stuff and with jazz you can just be in your feels ✨
Veronica! NYC native and I have felt so so discouraged by ballet as a total beginner(five months in to my journey) tried all the nyc studios and I find the only non toxic environment(tbh) is at ballet academy east if you are looking to feel taken seriously but not cast down) take care of yourself and look for things that inspire you(maybe outside of dance) stay strong 🤍
oh my god when i was 22 and abt advanced-beginner level it was my first time w/variation classes my then teacher also made us do bluebird and she was also old schooley and so so mean for no reason LMAO i took several classes under her at the time but she was so mean i ended up quitting ballet entirely for months LOL i'm now 24 and went back to ballet in the second half of last year under different teachers and i've developed SO SO much and my entire mindset has changed. i'll be doing my grade 5 istd exam this summer :') ur story is so so inspiring and i love how you stand up for what you believe in. never stay in an environment that does you more harm that good!!!
Hi Veronica! I would like to thank you for this video and I will share my experience with you: I am an amateur dancer and started dancing again (ballet and contemporary) after 10 years of stopping. This is my second year and the ballet teacher sometimes can be challenging. Before the Christmas show she was shouting at us, we were doing extra rehearsals and always finishing late in the evening, I was feeling exhausted. What I dislike the most is her attitude towards us. If you miss one lesson, it is a tragedy for her. I am debating whether to continue or not. I love dancing, I love my team, we have fun together but she is really challenging to bear. We have the final show in June (then the school is closed for three months) and I’m already stressed about it because I am going on holiday 1 week in may and she will be very upset if you miss classes before the show. I can’t do it all, I am just an amateur dancer. I do my best but..she’s not helping much. Anyway I hope that sharing my experience might help someone. ❤
I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling very well. And I'm sorry about what that teacher told you. Don't listen to her. Your passion for ballet makes you a great dancer. My favourite singer once said something that I want to share with you: "It's not a bad life, it's just a bad day" ❤
Happy to see that you're in a better place. I highly encourage trying more burlesque. When I was doing it, it was a major confidence booster and a wonderful creative outlet. Hope 2025 is better for you ❤
Oh you have some exciting and tranformative time ahead of you! 😍👏✨Enjoy it and keep focusing on your passions and whatever excites you! You got this! 💕
Im sorry you had to go through with so much crap. I just want you to know that you're amazing and i wish you all the recovery. I too have not been dancing alot these days because of crummy circumstances.
But you look so great dancing, especially for being injured! That lady has no idea… Sad that people are so mean, but I’m sure you know it’s themselves they really have a problem with… You are so graceful and amazing, and your dancing is exquisite. I know you are still learning, but my favorite thing about watching dancers is their light and natural ability, that has to do with their personality. Sometimes dancers can execute things perfectly, but don’t draw my attention, but I would watch you dance any day❤❤❤ You are handling everything so well and I can’t wait for you to find all the fabulous opportunities that will unfold before you. It’s inevitable ❤
@@DylanRadin awwww Dylan, you are SUCH a sweetheart! Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement 💕 wishing you all the best thing year and far beyond
I'm sorry you are going through a tough time, I was born with Ehler Danlos syndrome, so I know what it means not being able to move your body normally, being bedridden for long times or being in constant pain. I hope you'll fully recover soon. I'm even more sorry to hear about your divorce, especially since no one saw it coming...I guess sometimes we think the people in our lives understand us, our goals and our passions and are fully supporting us but it turns out they have changed over time or hoped we would change/give up due to seeing our dreams are difficult (and what worth having is not difficult?). I have teachers like the one you encountered, I have started studying again after years of simply taking care of my cancer patients parents (they are better and need me less, so I decided to resume my studies) and I have met some university professors like this...to be honest I have quite a temper (Greek and Irish blood, what can I say lol) and I get quite offended since they don't know anything about me, my illness or my abilities but they feel entitled to judge or give "advice"? yeah no thanks...last time I told such a person that if I need to reconsider finishing my degree, he might have had to reconsider teaching XD Lots of love from Italy, Ellie
Haha YES!! Omg I love the feistiness and I know EXACTLY how you feel. Of course rationally we understand that it’s not really a personal attack, but it can really feel like one. Especially when, just as you said, you don’t us, what we’ve been through, what we’re capable and we don’t to be treated like we’re lazy, incapable, untalented, etc. you’re tough and I love that!! Don’t let anyone keep you down. And thank you for such a kind, thoughtful comment
Thanks for the great video and update. To recap: you're talented, passionate, working on yourself, have great hair ... and now you're single!?!? The NYC boys will be there when you're ready for them. The only question is: will they be ready for you? Happy New Year!!
I’ve never been this early! But I’m so sorry that life has been so difficult. I’ve also taken some time off of ballet because I was getting overuse injuries. And now I don’t know when I’m going back but hopefully around March or April. I hope things get better for you soon!
I started late, knocked seven years off my age and took classes full time. I got empty promises and never could perform. Had to correct bad technique at another studio. Then i got spine and hip problems. My dance dream went poof. I don't regret a thing, but f*ck ballet schools who treat you badly because you arent the right age, social class or color. And yes that happens more often than not.
I’m sorry your year was very difficult and dark… thank you for sharing about your life and marriage… please let me know if there is anything I can pray for. ❤
I think the reason that ballet teacher had a problem with you being in the class was because it was a variation class. Variations are choreography excepts from a ballet, and to learn them, normally it is expected that you are already at a high level in ballet and doing regular ballet training outside of the variation class. I’d consider them an intermediate/advanced class, that is just the culture of ballet unfortunately. You weren’t to know that though, so her comments were not a reflection on your dancing it was probably more that she expected those in the class to already be at the intermediate/advanced level.
I don't know if this helps or not, but as a music major, I have had a spectrum of music instructors with different teaching styles. I hope over time you see that as long as ballet, dance in general brings you joy that you recognize that there are always voices in the teaching circles who are more "old school". As long as a teacher is excessively (however you define this) that there can be some good to be pushed to a reasonable (however you define that) amount. This is probably common among all of the arts. Don't get me wrong, I have had music instructors that I didn't like, but my hope is that you don't let this instance rob you of what you love.
From what I can see - you are very good at ballet. You should never let anyone bring you down. You still have time to get better and better. Don't give it up. Make sure you go to a good teacher who corrects you in a kind way.
@@VeronicaVacanza Happy New Year to you too - very sorry to hear that you got divorced. I did ballet as a child, went back when I was 35, took Intermediate exam and Classical Ballet award and passed both, went on to teach - never give up!
Yikes that variations class teacher needs a serious ego check. Absolutely no reason for her to talk to you that way, it's a reflection on her poor character. I'm a retired pro and now teach at a university and in a pre-professional school but I get to teach adult ballet occasionally and I love it! It's a different energy and purpose, as with my pre-pro and college students the focus is pushing them hard to prepare for competitions or company auditions. With the adults it's all about pure love and appreciation of the art form. In my experience the teachers who think poorly of adult students usually are insecure about their own dance career.
@@triskit82 mmmmmm very interesting insight. Sounds like your students are incredibly lucky to have you. Thanks for understanding the adult learning journey 💕
I am also a dancer and from my own experience I can tell you that God is the only welcoming and calm place where I have found myself in my most difficult moments. Dance is beautiful, and of course healing, but also demanding and exhausting, sometimes it takes all of you. But God, God is not like that, he is always love, he hugs, consoles and heals. I truly hope you heal and find peace and happiness in this life. Remember that The heart can only be healed by the one who created it.
Love your spirit 😊 sometimes the hard nose teacher is just what you need. Do you choose to accept her opinion, or (I hope) you reject her assessment and dig within for a new plan to attain your love...live your passion.😊
Sis I hate that your first class back was not what you expected but glad that you didn't let that mean teacher stop you from doing what you love. Also if I may ask do you remember what variation it was that y'all were doing.
@@mermaidopulence8539 yes of course! It was the bluebird variation from sleeping beauty!! Thankfully I had a little experience with it from one of my workshops but we broke it down to make it super basic/beginner friendly. This was a real challenge but it was a lot of fun despite the gruffness
People shouldn't be teachers if they make their life mission to make their students feel like shit and hate what they are trying to learn. Very sad people.
@@moimarie2008 I don’t even think she intended to be malicious, I’m just obviously in a hypersensitive state and it wasn’t the best space for me personally that day. Like I said, some people love a gruffer teaching style but I really love when teachers feel encouraging and positive!
I can't imagine going through a divorce. Except when my parents did after 12 yrs of marriage. I was hurt upset and just turned off . Although I suffered 2 breakups from highschool
Unfortunately, it’s not that much better in the music side of things. Sometimes I find people who are conservatory-trained to be very narrow minded and stuffy teachers. In my own teaching, I try to add elements of body mapping, Alexander Technique and implement some elements of anatomy. I’m so sorry that you have had a rough year. Take what that stuffy teacher said with a grain of salt and keep doing you. Happy Dancing!!💖💖

Not to be negative or put you down, but variation classes are quite advanced and fast paced so definitely not a safe re-entry into ballet especially from a serious injury
you might not have liked it but that ballet teacher was right. You need to take basic ballet classes and learn the history and basics. For being so passionate for ballet and calling yourself borderline professional and not knowing what a variation is? Hopefully that encounter sets you straight
She does take basic classes, she didnt know that one was that advanced. The teacher can express that without being ugly about it. imagine being so miserable that you hope someone is "set straight" over a dance class. It's not that serious.
@@MG-xo2td yes I agree, I need more basic classes especially after some time away from ballet. To be fair, the class was marketed as a “beginner variations” class so I thought it could be fun. I don’t call myself a borderline professional in any way, and actually make it extremely clear that I’m a beginner, but if you’re determined to misunderstand me I highly suggest engaging with a channel that makes you feel happier than mine seems to.

Also watching you enjoy this jazz class was so nice, you looked so free there, like you were having so much fun:)
You are truly an inspiration to me, I'm so glad I found your videos
Xx
@ Thank you so much! :)
Beautifully said. From another 54 year old ballet dancer overcoming a back injury. Lots of love 💖
@ thank you - I wish you speedy healing! :)
So glad u were able to overcome those obstacles ❤ Sending u love and positivity ❤
Idk how the ballet community can continue to complain about the art form dying and not having enough interest and then behave like that “teacher” did 🙄
Really common, sadly.
Thank you ❤
I just want to say your dancing at 11:00 was so beautiful, it has me excited to get back into class.
Awww thank you so much!! That means so so much ❤
I don't usually leave comments, but your vlog really touched my heart.

I started ballet as a teen this past year all because of you !! keep it up!
Wow!! Congratulations angel! I hope your journey brings you lots of growth and joy. It’s so important to follow your heart💖

27 is a WONDERFUL age to start! I’m so pumped for you 💕💕💕
I'm glad you came back!

Also, your generous and open-hearted approach to ballet is precisely why that world is improved and transformed by you. I hope you keep it up 🩰💗

That lady has no idea… Sad that people are so mean, but I’m sure you know it’s themselves they really have a problem with… You are so graceful and amazing, and your dancing is exquisite.
I have teachers like the one you encountered, I have started studying again after years of simply taking care of my cancer patients parents (they are better and need me less, so I decided to resume my studies) and I have met some university professors like this...to be honest I have quite a temper (Greek and Irish blood, what can I say lol) and I get quite offended since they don't know anything about me, my illness or my abilities but they feel entitled to judge or give "advice"? yeah no thanks...last time I told such a person that if I need to reconsider finishing my degree, he might have had to reconsider teaching XD
Lots of love from Italy, Ellie

I started late, knocked seven years off my age and took classes full time. I got empty promises and never could perform. Had to correct bad technique at another studio. Then i got spine and hip problems. My dance dream went poof. I don't regret a thing, but f*ck ballet schools who treat you badly because you arent the right age, social class or color. And yes that happens more often than not.
Get it, girl! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I think you would love taking an adult class with "ballet with isabella" She's a great teacher
I agree. Was thinking of her workshops, too.
I definitely need to get on that! She’s EXCELLENT!
Going through a separation. Started back ballet after a wee break. It lights up my life.
That teacher was a bully. That's not a teaching style.
From what I can see - you are very good at ballet. You should never let anyone bring you down. You still have time to get better and better. Don't give it up. Make sure you go to a good teacher who corrects you in a kind way.
Thank you for that
@@VeronicaVacanza Happy New Year to you too - very sorry to hear that you got divorced.

Bonne année 2025 à toi!
Love your spirit 😊 sometimes the hard nose teacher is just what you need. Do you choose to accept her opinion, or (I hope) you reject her assessment and dig within for a new plan to attain your love...live your passion.😊
Thank you so much for the encouragement, beautifully said💕 wishing you so much joy this year
Sis I hate that your first class back was not what you expected but glad that you didn't let that mean teacher stop you from doing what you love.
What a powerful title this video has!
💕💕💕
People shouldn't be teachers if they make their life mission to make their students feel like shit and hate what they are trying to learn. Very sad people.
@@moimarie2008 I don’t even think she intended to be malicious, I’m just obviously in a hypersensitive state and it wasn’t the best space for me personally that day. Like I said, some people love a gruffer teaching style but I really love when teachers feel encouraging and positive!
I can't imagine going through a divorce. Except when my parents did after 12 yrs of marriage. I was hurt upset and just turned off . Although I suffered 2 breakups from highschool
She’s better than me, I woulda told the teacher to get a different job cause a good teacher would never say that lol
4:07 you have an amazing voice 😱17:07
Thank youuuuu!!! Want to share more of my passion for music this year ❤
❤
Unfortunately, it’s not that much better in the music side of things. Sometimes I find people who are conservatory-trained to be very narrow minded and stuffy teachers. In my own teaching, I try to add elements of body mapping, Alexander Technique and implement some elements of anatomy. I’m so sorry that you have had a rough year. Take what that stuffy teacher said with a grain of salt and keep doing you. Happy Dancing!!💖💖
@@kiaraeijo yes the classical arts can be riddled with closed minds. But we find a way to persevere as artists! Thanks for taking the time to share some encouragement 💕 wishing you all the best things year
Don't give up because of one nasty teacher. You are amazing and beautiful. Have fun with Nutcracker.
Thank you so much for this ❤❤ wishing you an amazing and beautiful year ahead
❤❤✨✨
Not to be negative or put you down, but variation classes are quite advanced and fast paced so definitely not a safe re-entry into ballet especially from a serious injury
This year 2025 keep your head above water❤.
Same to you, hoping it’s a good one for you ❤❤❤
Are you planning to study ballet full time one day?
❤❤❤❤

You certainly don’t look like a beginner.
You are are not 30 i am 30 (i am 18 but you look smaler)
you might not have liked it but that ballet teacher was right.
Your positivity, determination and vulnerability are incredible 💗🫶🏼 2025 is going to be amazing for you I just know it
