Im a Canadian living in small town Ontario. My girlfriend was assaulted while out for a walk one nite. Canadian gun laws don’t allow us to possess a handgun nevertheless carry one. So I did the next best thing got her a German Shepherd for her walks. You do whatever you are comfortable with. Your personal safety is all that matters. Stay safe and god bless

Firstly, i agree that you own the to defend yourself with reasonable force. You are trained and hold a license so you took comtrol end of. I'm on you're side. That said the statement of an armed society is a safe one. That's not entirely true, we see the level of false pretending because people fear eachother so everyone is treading on egg shells. And when tempers fireup you know how quickly it escalates when everyone has a gun. But this is America and you have that right to bear arms against foreign and domestic threats within the laws granted by state and constitution. I respect you for that won't be a victim mentality.
Nearly every time someone flips out it's because they are of what you want to defend against. I use to play a certain video game years ago and the biggest blow ups on the forums were people who were outraged their bad behavior was being throttled. When I say bad behavior I mean "people who got joy out of making someone else's life miserable" kind of behavior. When you take away what they get off on boy do they blow their top.

@timberfallingcouple that's so true...she never reported any of those incidents...except for maybe the one where the guy tried to take her...another time she & a friend were in a parked car at a park...some guys broke in & held her at gunpoint and were going to gang you kno...fortunately the gun malfunctioned and she managed to escape that too. Crazy stuff

Firstly, i agree that you own the to defend yourself with reasonable force. You are trained and hold a license so you took comtrol end of.
I'm on you're side. That said the statement of an armed society is a safe one. That's not entirely true, we see the level of false pretending because people fear eachother so everyone is treading on egg shells. And when tempers fireup you know how quickly it escalates when everyone has a gun.
But this is America and you have that right to bear arms against foreign and domestic threats within the laws granted by state and constitution. I respect you for that won't be a victim mentality.
Nearly every time someone flips out it's because they are of what you want to defend against. I use to play a certain video game years ago and the biggest blow ups on the forums were people who were outraged their bad behavior was being throttled. When I say bad behavior I mean "people who got joy out of making someone else's life miserable" kind of behavior. When you take away what they get off on boy do they blow their top.
I mean we outlawed murder and sa a long while ago. Criminals will do what they want. Laws will never change that. Its up to us to defend ourselves. To be responisble citizens and not victims. But a lot of modern people dont understand the need for righteous violence. They were raised on the idea that you can talk and reason with the villain. The dragon doesnt need to be slayed, it just needs a hug. The govt keeps criminals on the street. Society pushes passivism. And we wind up where we are now.

I tend to lean left on social issues as long as they don't infringe on our freedom. But when it comes to the constitution and our rights, the right to arm bears is essential! Nobody should blindly trust the government. any government. any authority. nobody should tell anyone what to do with their bodies or how to protect them. I wish gun owners (other gun owners I should say) would agree on doing their best to prevent sales at gun shows etc that bypass the laws so d bags don't have access to guns. big believer in responsible gun ownership. I have a swiss parent and everyone thinks "neutral country" when they think of switzerland. few people realize that everyone is REQUIRED to take care of their military service rifle .....at home!! I remember asking my uncle about that when I was a kid and he then showed me his rifle. no mass shootings there. none.
ignore the mo-ron comments. you do what you need to do to feel safe. period. one day, when phasers become a thing and you can stun people from a distance and knock their asses out, this will no longer be an issue (but it will raise all kinds of other issues). in the meantime, you do you!

The problem I have with open carry is that anyone hardcore contemplating those acts will have advance notice and will plan accordingly once he sees you carrying. The downside is that not displaying will encourage the weak opportunist.
Then I'll be in a gun fight 🤷🏼♀️ I pick and choose my battles and open carry while I'm running feels the best and is the most logical to me. To each their own! 👍🏼
