    The VideoMic Go II sounds great! It has more low end and has less ambient noise out of the box than the older version. The VideoMic Pro is still better than the two though. Thanks for this video.

  • @EmilioExploring

    The Videomic Go in my opinion sounds the best but it was not insolated correctly and gets radio interference. The 2 has a very flat sound and has a strange polar pattern. The 2 also picks up a wind noise even with the Rode Deadcat and looses a lot of function if you are using it with a camera. At this point in the game I would avoid both mics. Just a few points I wanted to make. Great video!

    • @mozzer_27

      For a similar price point, what mic would you go with?

    • @dragonwisard
      @dragonwisard ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I replaced the original VideoMic Go with the smaller VideoMicro. Solved the abhorrent RF noise issue of the original Go.
      I have no idea how he got such clear sounding recordings with the original Go in this video without adding shielding or recording in a faraday cage.

  • @Blazin_Pumpkin_Creations

    I just got me the original Videomic Go on sale for 50 bucks yesterday.. I think for that price its a damn good mic to use with my filming work! even though the GO 2 is a lil more rich in tone I love the clarity of the original Go a lil better when standing a bit away from the mic

    Hey great video! I recently picked up a videomic pro plus for recording live music. How do you think the Go 2 would work in a loud environment like that? Would be ideal to have a secondary mic. Rode seems to make such nice things for the price point.

    • @MisterHenry
      @MisterHenry  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're at the mercy of the sound in the venue unfortunately. Ideally it would be better to get a feed of the music directly from the mixing desk and maybe blend the live sound your getting from the Rode mic in post. Otherwise the sound is just going to be bouncing around all over the place. You'll have to make sure your sound is not clipping too, that will avoid distortion. Hope this helps.

      @@MisterHenry thanks for the response! I actually recorded a friends band with the Pro Plus and it came out super decent. Of course a bit muddy with audience noise and such. I’m going to have to look into trying to plug directly into the mixing board and what it entails. Thanks again for the reply, much appreciated.

    Hello. Do you think this mic would be good to use with my iPhone 12Pro Max to record stand up comedy sets? I've been trying to find something to get better audio than the iPhone mic provides. The problem I been having is all rooms acoustics are different. I'm looking for something that will help to make videos sound clearer and less echoey. Also will this pick up crowd laughter well too if the camera is set up in the back center of the room or will it cancel out laughter from the sides and only pick up straight down the middle. Sorry for the long question, you just see to know what you're talking about and figured you might know. Appreciated if you answer.

    • @MisterHenry
      @MisterHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mariotonticomedy, If it was me, I’d use a wireless Lav mic and attach it to my shirt. Placing the mic as close to you as possible is the best way to get the quality you’re after. You’ll find that the crowd laughter will spill into the Lav mic too to some degree. When sound engineers record live shows, they would probably have a few mics placed at the back of the venue and blend the mix together. Hope this help. 👍

    now the difference in price is 53 to 110 do you think is still worth the extra price of the go 2 over the go? it costs twice of the previous version...

    • @MisterHenry

      I’d say yes. It’s still more versatile that the Rode Go. The Go 2 is a half decent usb mic too.. Plus better build quality.

    • @MisterHenry
      @MisterHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to capture the sound system inside of a Car, a RØDE Stereo VideoMic Pro with Dual Half InchCapsules in Fixed X/Y would be a better option. It’ll capture the realistic ambient audio inside the car. Here’s the link to check it out: amzn.to/3cdTxjC

    in terms of pure specs if the videomic go ii better than the blue yeti?

    • @MisterHenry
      @MisterHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Videomic go 2 is definitely more versatile than the yeti. So if you’re planning to use it as a camera mic as well as for podcasting the Rode might be a good option for you. However because it’s more expensive, the overall build quality of the Yeti is better in that regard. It really depends what you’re gonna use these mics for. Hope this helps. 👍

    Hi Daniel I got a question for you. So I'm making a short movie and I was wondering is this mic good for filmmaking, mainly in closed spaces and internal environment. Thank you, awesome video as usual!

    • @MisterHenry
      @MisterHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment my friend. In an ideal world I would always recommend hiring or networking with a sound guy. He will make sure you get the best possible audio for your short movie. If that’s not an option, get yourself external recorder. Doesn’t have to be super expensive, just something that can take XLR inputs and can record in a high bit rate.
      If you cant afford that, then this little rode mic will do the trick. It won’t be perfect, but it is a very versatile shotgun mic that you can use for a lot of different scenarios. Maybe get a long cable for it too, so you can boom it closer to your talent. Hope this helps buddy. Hope the filming goes well. 👍
