But God is being a human and doesn't want to be a god anymore, death I think died, all the archangels are dead except Michael and lucifer in the cage and the darkness is trapped in the mark. So I suppose your right nothing that could kill him can kill him except God but, he isn't intervening ever. It be nice to see God actually do some powerful shit on the show

Jensen said in an interview that originally Castiel was supposed to fight back but Misha and Jensen felt that Castiel wouldn't do that so they changed it so that Dean would be the one hurting Cas.

I will say one thing, besides the fact that the acting is fantastic in this scene, I really am enjoying the hand to hand combat here. I noticed they have been using it a lot this season, and it really makes the show that much more enjoyable. I loved this show from the beginning to now, but, I'm not going to lie, the "let's beat the bad guy in a few moves and/or spells," was starting to get a bit stale. All of this action that we're getting in season 10 is awesome, epic, and never tiresome. I hope we continue to get this much action in the future... they did not go wrong with this season! Don't get me wrong, I love all seasons of Supernatural, I just love the ones that have all the action even more! Lol.

Well actually in the script Cas does fight back but Jensen and Misha changed it, because they didn't think Cas would hurt Dean.

It was proven back when Naomi was controlling Cas that he cannot actually kill Dean, not even under somebody else's control. Even after "rehearsing" with countless Dean clones, he still couldn't do it for real. So it's no surprise that he can't bring himself to unleash the holy smite on Dean even now.
***** the wroters said that dean actually became too powerful during the fight for castiel to beat, no powers would of affected him because of the mark, he cant kill him because of the mark and when dean lets himself use the powers of it then cas cant win

Maybe, but he didn't even seriously *try* to fight if you watch. The original script called for them to, but Jensen and Misha decided that it wouldn't be in-character at this point for Cas to try to hurt Dean.

Kay Scruton yeah. Cas is immortal. The mark will never let Dean die and he'll kill everyone on the face of the Earth and Cas will have to watch all of that and not be able to do a thing to stop him. That's a fucked up way to try and force love.
Also using that sense of logic, Dean would be more in love with Sam then Cas.
And that's okay too, if you want to portray Dean to romantically love Sam that's cool too. If it's just a family love that's canonly confirmed. Look it hasn't been disproven or proven by writers that Dean loves Cas, but as fans, we have the right to portray characters however we want. What's not alright is telling us hat we are wrong, not that I'm accusing you of completely doing so. Look can't we all just get along since we both like the same show?

even though supernatural is a very sad and emotional show I never cried about an episode. I teared up a little bit at the finale of season 8. Maybe a little bit more at the finale of season 9. But this up there was the only moment ever I just burst out in tears ... just to see that he is alive a few seconds later ....
2:30 Notice how Cas tries to stop Dean by hugging him just like he did on episode 3, It was probably the last option on Cas' mind cuz It worked on Dean when *he was a demon* trying to kill Sam, It was a extreme case and right at this moment Cas decided this was an extreme case too and even so he decides not to fight back, even on an extreme case he's last option Is to be gentle and Is all because It is Dean who we are talking about, pretty nice and painful throwback

It's funny the viewers are supposed to think that Dean killed Cas, but there is one clue that tells you otherwise, there was no white light when Dean stabbed the angel blade down. Since there was no white light, I know Cas didn't die.
Still, it made my heart heart skip a beat and my breath stutter when you see Dean slam down that knife

Just watched a clip from season 8 - the one where it's the other way around and Dean gets beat up by Castiel while he's under Naomi's control.
I guess this one is probably a sort of parallel to that one.
There, Dean appeals to Castiel and hopes (though he is not 100% sure because he doesn't know exactly what's wrong with Cas) that Cas won't kill him. And Cas pulls through and drops the angel blade.
Here, Cas (sort of) appeals to Dean and hopes (though he is not 100% sure because he knows that the Mark affects Dean so) that Dean won't kill him. And Dean pulls through and stabs a book instead.
ETA: Still a little awestruck at the fact both 'fights' start off with one of them twisting the other one's right wrist. Hehehe. =P
What I absolutely love about this scene is that cas doesn't fight back. He only uses defensive moves and never tries to actually hit dean 😊

"Everyone except me" is such a romantic cliche. Cas doesn't know that, though, but you can see how Dean swallows and looks away. I really do think that Dean was waiting something more, and Cas got him for a moment, but then he continues and that's when Dean flips.

Generally yeah, here not so much though. Cass would get defeated if he fought back, probably even killed. He is an Angel of the lord, but the Mark draws power straight from the Darkness. The Mark also makes Dean much more aggressive and cold-blooded than normal in addition to making him a lot stronger. If Cass fought back, the Mark would take over and most probably, Dean would have ended up stabbing Cass and not the book. It is because Cass did not fight back, that Dean was able to regain control over the Mark and stop from killing Cass.
True. it's possible that castiel could have won if he fought back. Not sure if smiting him would have worked, but he just didn't want to fight dean.
@Victor Palacios I disagree. Because as we see the Mark of Cain kept getting stronger, as well as making Dean stronger. Dean won against and killed CAIN, the deadliest demon, a demon who beat Cas like it was no big deal. At this point of time, Dean had become too strong for even Cas. And no, I am not speaking about Demon Dean. If it was regular Dean, I would agree Cas would be able to beat him, he is a human vs an angel after all. But not Mark-of-Cain-enhanced Dean, especially after that much time had elapsed since it started getting stronger.

I always thought that absolute power was the best that can happen to someone, but when your absolute power hurts your friends it loses its value. And everything you once enjoyed turns into ashes. Dean teaches us that. I always liked seeing him with a firm hand but when he beat Castiel almost to death I realised absolute power is worth nothing if it can't help you to protect your loved ones.

This scene also proves that Dean at one point was known to be one of the strongest characters in the show. Dude couldn’t even properly die without turning into a demon & even when he came back, the mark was still with him making him have superhuman abilities. Crowley couldn’t control him, Cas almost died from him & the writing was detailed how in the beginning Cain said your going to kill your brother and Dean denied but in the end of s10 you see Dean wanting to kill Sam. Mark Of Cain was great storytelling.
Even in this scene he is still lifeless, well besides his extreme rage. This is definitely my favorite season for sure
I think the mark is what allows dean to hurt castle because we’ve seen him punch Cass and damn near break his hand.
