Season 8 became a bit of a letdown to me. I hoped it would have been a two-part storyline when S7 ended. I imagined a Dean storyline where he, Benny and Cas fought their way through Purgatory, looking for the portal, and at the end of the season he would escape. Meanwhile Sam's arc would be that he searched high and low to find out where Dean was and do what he could to save him, and at the same time balancing that with looking for the Demon tablet and Kevin, hunting Crowley. That way, we would see much more of the savage Dean personality from Purgatory, perhaps even slap Dick in there (haha). Maybe he returned to Purgatory after being killed, where he was hunting them, and without the bone weapon, Dean, Cas and Benny's only choice of action would be to fight their way through endless hordes of monsters while trying to get away from Dick. This way, the writers have had every chance to present many more monsters we've heard about, and not seen. And also throw in some monsters the boys have met in the past and killed, which we know would end up in Purgatory, just to make it more interesting. And Sam would be forced to get back into his old hunter mode, instead of moping around with a dog and some woman that had little, next to no impact on the show. Him in his more brutal hunting modus, desperately trying to save Dean, while fighting his way through hordes of Demons in search for Kevin and Crowley. I imagine it could end with Sam learning about Dean and Cas's whereabouts through the angel that mindwipes and mindcontroles Cas, season finale would be Dean returning to find some crazy crowley shit happening with the demon tablet, perhaps Sam failed at saving Kevin. The cliffhanger would be tons of portals to hell opening at his return to earth. TLDR; I think Season 8 had potential but failed to live up to them.
+LittleMadPyro if it makes you feel better, season 11 got good- Ep 4 is one of the best of the entire series (as was Ep 20), the season itself was much more consistent and focused, and the acting was superb all around. I had to push myself through the first 3 eps, but it was so worth it. Can't wait for season 12 if this return to form holds :)
The first episode of season 12 aired on Thursday-and it's amazing. Mary being back is an interesting point of view and especially her's and Cas' friendship. And poor Sammy with that bitch capturing him:(

Are you serious. They have known each other for 9 seasons and there hasn't been a single romantic or sexual moment between either of them. Maybe Cas could have the sexual orientation of his vessel if he has one at all and Jimmy was straight but fuck it maybe Cas could somehow be gay even though it's more likely the opposite based on what we have seen, but Dean, really? I mean really? He is so clearly straight. I've seen people that like to argue that he only has so much sex with women because he's denying who he is but that's bullshit. Okay wow. First of all i admit that might be true- dean could be straight but honestly is more likely that he is bisexual and simply leans towards women more then men. Personally, being bisexual is hard because you honestly have no idea what your sexuality is. I was confused and in denial for about 5 years before i finally "embraced the gay" as some people like to say haha. Also given Dean's childhood with his dad, being gay/bi wouldn't really be an option. For one, seeing as his dad seems to be a conservative military dad, he could have been kicked out of his home. Everyone is focusing on the wrong part of this scene, sure there may be some hiding action going on here, but after cas comes out of the bathroom looking hella fine sammy immediately looks at dean with a gentle, happy expression. I am going to be honest, while I really like Dean and Castiel and I would lie if I said I wouldnt Like they being together, I think people read too much. Yes, they are more than Friends, sometimes eventos more than a fraternal love but yet they are not a couple. I like to think they are like soulmates, but sometimes you are not fated to be with that person in that way

I just don't get why people keep letting the quality slip as long as they get their ship-bait. Can you honestly tell me that any of these seasons have been better than the first five? Because the core of the show has changed. Sam and Dean used to be these really masculine guys: they were hunters and womanizers, but they also showed emotions. Now they're these cartoonish caricatures of themselves, made to cater to the women that want to be with them, rather then the men who want to be them. Since Season 5, they've gotten laid maybe once that wasn't a long-term relationship, and they're doing stupid shit they would never do like listening to Taylor Swift. The fact that they only listened to 70's rock was a part of their identity. I guess my point is that they've moved from being their original characterization to being living Tumblr gifs, the traits that fangirls loved exaggerated to the point of absurdity. I find it an offense to the characters I grew to love in 1-5.

I was highlighting the old school vibes I got from this scene more than an opinion about Dean and Castiel and what they have or don’t have. As long as people keep the discussion of Destiel away from the actors, I see no harm in people shipping them-emphasis on AWAY from the actors. It gets annoying and disrespectful when the cast is bombarded by shippers. People who think Destiel is real should keep it within the fictional world of SPN

Are you serious. They have known each other for 9 seasons and there hasn't been a single romantic or sexual moment between either of them. Maybe Cas could have the sexual orientation of his vessel if he has one at all and Jimmy was straight but fuck it maybe Cas could somehow be gay even though it's more likely the opposite based on what we have seen, but Dean, really? I mean really? He is so clearly straight. I've seen people that like to argue that he only has so much sex with women because he's denying who he is but that's bullshit. Plus these are characters not real people so they are only gay or bi once the writers decide that. But they won't. Dean is straight plain and simple.
Okay wow. First of all i admit that might be true- dean could be straight but honestly is more likely that he is bisexual and simply leans towards women more then men. Personally, being bisexual is hard because you honestly have no idea what your sexuality is. I was confused and in denial for about 5 years before i finally "embraced the gay" as some people like to say haha. Also given Dean's childhood with his dad, being gay/bi wouldn't really be an option. For one, seeing as his dad seems to be a conservative military dad, he could have been kicked out of his home. Keep in mind of the time period where Dean and Sam were growing up. As for your last comment, who knows? maybe the writers will let Dean and Castiel get together at the end. Only time will tell

I'm exactly what you explained Dean might be "Bi-sexual but leans more towards women than men" I prefer to call myself Heteroflexible though, not that I have told anyone in real life. But the part of me that likes men is only physical, I've never romantically even liked a man, which is actually annoying given how well I get along with men and how badly I get along with women lol. I'm not saying all the stuff I said about Dean and Cas because I'm some uptight straight asshole who's homophobic. I generally like Gay, Bi, Lesbian etc people I just don't like the ones that push gay relationships between straight characters, or one gay and one straight character. In my opinion it's nearly if not just as disrespectful as when people push gay people to be straight. Dean has in no way ever truely hinted at being anything other than straight, and when he talks about women it doesn't come off as someone trying to brag so he sounds as straight as possible (trust me I know since that's what I do) he sounds like he just genuinely loves women. The only thing you have said that might make a case is about how John was but he died a decade ago and Dean's like 40 now so if he was gay, bi whatever he would surely have come out by now and since he hasn't he either never will or is just straight and since they are characters they are only what the writers make them rather than being something all along. I think Destiel fans just need to accept that it's never going to happen, because if it ended with Dean settling down into a apple pie life with Castiel so many fans would be pissed and it would be such a strange and illogical ending. Dean and Sam need to either die at the end or both of them chose to leave the hunter life. I always hoped that one of them becomes an Angel somehow and takes over heaven and the other becomes a Demon and takes over Hell haha. Would never happen but thought it would be cool.

while everyone in here are just talking about Destiel,not that I blame them but more than anything,I just adore this scene so much💗💗💗Cas and the boys are reunited and while Cas isn't exactly on his right mind,Dean obviously can feel and see the emptiness and the fact that something is not right about Cas!that doesn't mean he's angry at his angel but goes through to his own guilt more than anything💔he feels like he let down Cas!by failing to get him out of the purgatory and also by thinking he's dead,giving up on trying to save him!he feels like he deserves a great punishment from Cas,like being at least a little bit blamed!and this kind of reaction from Cas,breaks him even more💔and in the same time,flashbacks shows the way he tried to get Cas out of purgatory and that moment wasn't only about Cas!he also kept his promise to Benny and had such a heart-worming moment with him!thinking three of them will be reunited on earth!the fact that being called "Brother!" by Benny didn't made him to show any kind of weird or unexpected reaction,shows he totally knew his vampire friend after a year and feels completely safe by him!

I am going to be honest, while I really like Dean and Castiel and I would lie if I said I wouldnt Like they being together, I think people read too much. Yes, they are more than Friends, sometimes eventos more than a fraternal love but yet they are not a couple. I like to think they are like soulmates, but sometimes you are not fated to be with that person in that way

He knows that the two characters aren't ever going to get together, because it makes no sense for them to, and he has to dance around that fact every time a delusional fangirl asks him when her two favorite characters are going to go gay for no reason next season.
What you're doing isn't shipping, it's obsessing over something to the point that it alters your perceptions. Nobody except Destiel shippers watched this scene and thought 'clearly Dean's hiding a boner!' I find it offensive when people try to create subtext that isn't there. Why don't you spend time on relationships that actually exist instead of pining over what never could have been or will be?
You might not understand this, but as we've gotten each new successive writer, the show has veered more towards pandering to shippers and the Tumblr crowd because they know that these fans will obsessively watch and defend the show no matter how shitty the writing gets. And believe me, the writing has become significantly shittier since season 5.
The characters we're watching right now aren't even Sam, Dean and Cass and Crowley anymore. Everyone has veered so far into fanservice territory that they've lost their original sparks. Go back and watch how legitimately good the first five seasons were and then watch the shit that came after them again, without your goddamn shipping goggles. ChloeLND People with your attitude ruin shows and gatekeep new fans. I've seen it before, I've seen it with this exact show, and I am still seeing it. I just don't get why people keep letting the quality slip as long as they get their ship-bait. Can you honestly tell me that any of these seasons have been better than the first five? Because the core of the show has changed. Sam and Dean used to be these really masculine guys: they were hunters and womanizers, but they also showed emotions. Now they're these cartoonish caricatures of themselves, made to cater to the women that want to be with them, rather then the men who want to be them. Since Season 5, they've gotten laid maybe once that wasn't a long-term relationship, and they're doing stupid shit they would never do like listening to Taylor Swift. The fact that they only listened to 70's rock was a part of their identity.
I guess my point is that they've moved from being their original characterization to being living Tumblr gifs, the traits that fangirls loved exaggerated to the point of absurdity. I find it an offense to the characters I grew to love in 1-5.
