The business card for setting air gap on these simple coils is absolutely brilliant. Setting the gap is where most people fail and eventually throw in the towel. I also carefully check the mounting points on the coil itself and stand-offs for rust before mounting the coil. It must have a perfect ground to the engine to function properly.
Thanks for the support! I learned this trick from someone else but it works really well. And I also did what you mentioned and sanded down all the points for the ground but didn’t mention that in the video. Also great advice! If you want to go one step further I also put dielectric grease on the connections so all the water that a small motor sees won’t ever affect it😎
Dielectric grease a great idea. This style of ignition with a set of magnets flying past a coil has been around almost as long as the automobile has but when I work diagnose one or repair one, they still never cease to amaze me with their simplicity. hello friend. You can't buy an ignition coil in my country. I found it in China. the Chinese assures me that he will not suit me. but they are very similar visually. will the coil fit me if it is very similar? engine ctr 172 e-62130A. thanks.

Ive tried 2 new magnetos on mine and STILL no spark... gap is set at 0.010 NOTHING I dont see what else could be wrong with it!
Try replacing spark plug and check ground. 😎
