There is a possibility that the ENVIRONMENT MODE on Laravel is triggerable from outside that's why the credentials and variables are revealed by the hackers. The developers left the trigger on the environment on deployment on the live server. Big mistake :) Always set the environment mode as "production" never let the server envrionment trigger it. Deployment issue :) hala sige, mag hire pah kayo mga bogus programmers/developers
perhaps China wants to know how many guns and gun owners Filipinos have. They forgot to get how many have firearms which are not in the database. China would say, Oh Jezz, pinoy love their guns. We cannot just mess with them. :)

Create a cyber security department separate from DICT. Security is not CHEAP!
We are indeed "2 steps behind", not just in our government's cyber security but in a lot of areas.
Sobrang naka frustrate talaga...imagine kahit sa cyberspace we are not safe and they can't do anything about it.

Clearly, this is lack of competence from our govt which is million of miles behind in every aspect. Govt officials, employees should be held liable sa mga kapalpakan nila.
i hope they will comply now after the breach. employees’ attitude is the weakest part of govt system.
State should protect us, including our personal data since they collect it. Its their responsibility. Can they fire a department secretary already for this mishandling
People who work for government are largely recruited because of “backers” not because of competence. That is what you get.
In my opinion, no one is to be blame about this incident. In fact this is an opportunity for the concerned agencies to look more into these vulnerabilities and further fortify their defenses. The DICT did not exist to stop these from occuring infact they expect the likelihood of these to happen and to respond and implement mitigating measure. This is also an opportunity for them to impove our cyber defense capabilities

Unpatched vulnerabilities are a result of lazy people working in IT systems.

If the hacker is indeed Filipino, he surely is making every gov't institution move. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't. Hoping he is not some famewhore though. :)

Philippine govt should implement encryption for all govt txt and even some voice communications

No matter how good is your data infrastructure, kong ang gumagamit naman yong may mga access hindi alam kong paano ma identify at paano maiwasan at malaman ang mga bogus, dapat talag e educate rin kong ano at paano malaman kong iyan ay bogus kasi hindi naman basta makakapasok ang mga hacker nayan kong walang pag kakamalj sa mga user.
