  • Hazel Creek is a magical place, a secluded displaced town of the past. I'm thrilled I was able to visit again and I hope it won't be another 14 years before I get to come back. It's such a peaceful serene place and I hope you will enjoy going along with me and seeing the remnants of the communities and the people who inhabited them. Thank you for watching & God bless you ❤️

    Corie, I share the following. May it resonate with you. Tell your son, with deep emotions, that you can barely wait to hold him so lovingly in your arms. You, young lady, are so blessed. Receive the gift.

    Corie, that was wonderful! I’m impressed that you could do all that walking while pregnant. You should win an award for this video, too! You sure have a knack for putting a video together so that it runs smooth and looks professional. The scenery was awesome and I just loved that old cemetery. Seeing the remnants of what was does make you wonder about their life and times. Well done❣️

      We use to have family reunions at Watts Bar Resort in Sweetwater, TN. Every year for many many years. Watts Bar is in the TVA area also. It was beautiful also! I really enjoyed this video! Thank you Corie! You look like you dropped and are ready to pop!! Bless you and your family!❤️

    I loved this walk. When TVA harnessed the rivers to stop flooding and generate electricity, many communities were displaced. People need to be aware of the price some people paid for the benefit of the area.

    • @thevictorianedge5465
      @thevictorianedge5465 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Indeed. A huge price for some families. Something similar happened to my family when NC took over certain sized lakes. Jones lake state park was take over. If families refused to accept the “offer” they were literally burned out. Yes. My grandmother talked about that until she died which was her early 90’s. She never got over it. 😢

    • @thevictorianedge5465
      @thevictorianedge5465 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Oh and the area is a state park now and when my boys were young I would take them and tell the story of what happened. Inside the office at the state park they have exhibits of the native wildlife and plants etc and one day I saw a brochure of how Jones Lake state park came to be and that the state bought out the families living there and gave so much money per acre for compensation but no where did it tell the rest of the story about any families refusing to leave and take the offer were burned out. The sad truth.

    If I had lived in the Calhoun house I definitely would have spent most of my free time on that porch watching and listening to the creek...or in the creek itself 🩷 So peaceful and relaxing

    This reminds me of my grandparents/great grandparents homestead. All 160 acres under water. Except for one thing. My great grandparents chimney (of their home) is above water. A sad reminder of what once was.

    We had woods like that in Texas when I was a kid in the 50'/60's but they cut all of it down and now we have buildings and pavement. I do believe that's why it's so hot here and no oxygen in the air. Shame on men for tearing down the beauty God created! ✝️

    Corie, this video was absolutely beautiful! The lovely mandolin and dulcimer music just captured my soul at the beginning. Of course the scenery was stunning. Aren’t we just so blessed to live in Appalachia. The anticipation of viewing the sites of the long ago displaced community was exhilarating. I too love exploring anything with a history. I think that’s why I love Cades Cove so much. It’s almost like you can feel the life that once made the sites real. Thank you so very much for sharing your trip. I would love to go to Hazel Creek, but I don’t think my hubby could make the walk. Also, loved the video of everyone at your house for dinner. 😊❤😊🙏

    Your hair is so cute! It’s beautiful where you’re at. Some people just don’t take the time to stop and look at Gods landscape. Nature has a way of taking its place back from what man builds. A place in the woods by a river where I raised my kids was taken by the flood. Now that my kids are grown they will go to visit the old home stead and nothing is there only what God put there.

    Totally awesome! So exciting to see someone as young as you interested in the history of what once was. Thank you so much for sharing, it was super interesting.

    This is a beautiful & magical place. I would enjoy living in the mountains of North Carolina. I have such a special place in my heart for people who had their homes & towns taken away from them. The TVA has done the same in our area also. So sad. Thank you for taking us on this great adventure❤ 🙏

    How beautiful Gods handiwork! The Mountains and the water. Just beautiful! We too have a couple of TVA lakes. Normandy Lake and Tim’s Ford, here in TN. My family was displaced by Tim’s Ford. Thanks for sharing this! Praying for you and your baby and husband as well as Katie and Ira!❤
