- This will likely be my last movie until Assassin's Creed 4, which comes out later this year. Not sure whether I'll be able to make that this year or will have to put it off until early next year, we'll see. This semester I'm really busy with school and work, but this should be my last semester, so I should have more free time next semester.
For those of you who may not be familiar with my work, yes this is a movie. No, it's not a hollywood production, but I still consider it a movie. The idea is taking a game, and editing it in a way that allows the story to be seen and enjoyed by people who don't play video games. This also allows people who enjoy the game to go back and rewatch the story without the time necessary to play the game, and without the stress induced by dying multiple times, lol.
While cutscenes are a focus for me, as they drive the story, they aren't the only thing included in these movies. If you do that, you lose a lot of the story. I have to include enough gameplay to link the cutscenes without confusing the viewer. I want to make sure someone who's never played the game can still understand the story. I also like to remove any "game indicators" which make it obvious to the viewer that they're watching a game. One thing I was able to do with this game was disable the HUD entirely. I found a config file tweak that allowed me to disable the HUD, making this a much more movie like experience. This allows the game to be presented in a much more cinematic style that helps fit it to this format much better. The only thing that remained was the bat logo that appeared above enemy heads in some areas, but I was able to edit those out.
As I said, AC4 will likely be my next movie, but there are other games I'm looking at as possible candidates for future movies. These include Watch Dogs, Arkham Origins, Beyond: Two Souls, and Infamous: Second Son. I'm going to wait for reviews before deciding to purchase Arkham Origins or Beyond, but if the games are good, they seem like they might work as movies. Assassin's Creed 4 will be the PS4 version, and if I do Watch Dogs, that will also be the PS4 version.One thing I'm concerned with with Watch Dogs is game length, as I heard it might be a very long game.

Briyanaism Yeah, Batman must have beaten up thousands of criminals overnight, saved many lives including his own and ran through more gauntlets than Indiana Jones! He even had to endure some punishment as Bruce Wayne, but he did punish the hell out of thugs as Wayne too. I loved how he broke Cobblepott’s left hand after he hit him with brass knuckles! LOL!

I started Arkham City for the first time a few days ago and just finished it today. It is by far the best game I have ever played. The characters are incredible, the voice acting is just right, and it's the best story I've ever seen.

Am I the only one who truly appreciates the atmosphere and architecture of the buildings? I'm really into retro stuff from the 40s-60s. I love the old look of everything, and the cold, gritty, run down atmosphere. Arkham Origins also understood this idea in my opinion. It's hard for me to explain why I love the style of this game. If I were to write a Ben Affleck Batman film, I would make the tone and the architecture and atmosphere and design extremely close to this.

Very Tim Burton-esque. It’s gorgeous. Not to mention massive. This is exactly how Gotham City should look.
You've got to appreciate the way they designed Bruce's walk at the beginning of the video; that strolling, not-a-care-in-the-world style is about as un-Batman-like as you get. It's a nice touch that conveys to what extent Bruce goes to hide his TRUE identity.

The ending of this is awesome. Batman spent so long trying to stop joker and when joker finally dies. You can see that Batman is actually upset that joker is gone and gives him respect as being such a worthy opponent for all these years

If you're a a Batman: The Animated Series fan you'll notice even the reporter's voice actor is from the show. I'm amazed at how much this game reminds me of being a kid waiting for the new Batman to come on lateish Saturday night.

My favourite Batman game hands down. I love how it included small things like the ace chemicals building, and how you got to see things like the GCPD, wonder city, Sionis steel mill, the old cinema where Wayne and Martha died, the Maronis restaurant and the ice berg lounge. I know it sounds silly but a lot of care went into making this game and only a true Batman fan would've appreciated it.

@@nightfury8848 I'd personally say this is far better than Arkham Knight. The Arkham Knight story isn't as good, and a lot of the stealth aspects are lost due to the overuse of the Batmobile.

If you're on a next gen console, I think the only way to get it is by buying Batman: Return to Arkham, which includes Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, both with improved graphics.

Talia's body disappeared during the final boss fight with Clayface, I assume one of the assassins retrieved her corpse, I'm not all that worried about her, a quick soak in a Lazarus Pit, and everything will be back to normal.

Everything about this game was a work of art. The combat was amazing, and the writing left you on the edge of your seat. I hope someday we can get a Batman movie like this because it would do wonders at box office.

I think all the Arkham Games are fantastic(and yes, that includes Origins), but this one set itself apart. When you take everything into account, this was the best and most complete of them all. It had the best story(or stories), the best and grittiest Gotham, the best overall characters, the greatest score, the most interesting side-missions and the best ending. Even with Arkham Knight, Arkham City remains The Definitive Batman-Game.
Rocksteady showed how to make an awesome superhero video game, I wish they would make a teenage mutant ninja turtles game.

I just want to say thank you. I haven't been a gamer and years but my youngest son is and so we got him Arkham Asylum and at ten he beat it on normal mode in two days.
Watching him play reminded me of youth and be obsessed with beating a game.

Summer game releases were cool but fall or winter sucked ass( I live in Minnesota) but I much prefer picking it up on steam, pre-loading, and having it ready the moment it releases... usually at least, steam servers can derp sometimes. Don't you have a gaming PC? I suppose a gtx 480 may struggle in arkham knight a bit. It seamed to run origins pretty well! Awesome movie btw! Not that you need to hear it from me :p

After playing this awesome game for the 6th time I noticed two plot points I never understood: 1) Why didn't Catwoman take the suitcases with her? That wasn't very much of a tight squeeze for her, also her whip could have also fixed the suitcases' transportation issue lick-ity split. 2) Why didn't Clayface throw the cure to Joker? not even that, he could have stretched his arm to simply hand the cure to Joker, I got a feeling Clayface is gonna return posing as the Joker for Batman Arkham 4.
Did anyone else notice the unusual sentence Talia said to Batman in 1:28:00? Only one man has passed this ordeal, but it couldn't be her Father because the game is based off of the story where this trail never existed during Ra's beginning on forming the League of Shadows. Which cause to question, did she mean Todd Jason? Bane and Todd were the only ones besides Batman to make direct contact with the League of Shadows, however only Todd had experienced the Lazarus Pit's powers.
So many mysteries behind this game. Like HUSH's introduction, Scarecrow's Gang, the Collection of the Mechanical Guardians. Something tells me that Jason, Scarecrow, and HUSH are teaming up to go against Batman. The secret messages on the radio channels, the fact that Todd is the only one who would be able to find Wonder City and survive it, Scarecrow's spies found dead among the other inmates, the Fear Gas infected Cockroaches shipment, Batman Arkham 4 just couldn't come any sooner...
Also, why is he carrying Joker's body out of arkham city and not Talia's?
True not sure why that happen instead of the other. But remember, Joker is the only person who understands Batman. Not Bruce Wayne, but Batman. Bruce Wayne was becoming Batman at this point, so Joker meant to him more than Talia. Talia was appealing Bruce Wayne but not Batman in a sense. It is a deep sense of twisted logic and addiction to the persona of "Batman" and the persona Joker.
Talia is very much like Catwoman in a lot of ways, the one is she is a phase/stress-release doll for a specific purpose for a specific time. Joker was more intimate without being sexual-intimate. Joker was Batman's center of existence, the second main character to the "Batman Performance." Bruce Wayne was becoming Batman and thus Joker became his life's center. Once Joker died and reality hit Bruce Wayne that Batman is actually a part of an ongoing malicious stage performance where REAL people and REAL lives REALLY die, it hits Bruce Wayne that it really is all his fault for prolonging Batman's existence than it should. Now Talia is dead, a REAL person who REALLY loved Bruce Wayne and not Batman. Joker is dead, a psychopath who only kept killing people because Bruce Wayne prolonged "the Batman performance show" where anyone can play and hurt REAL people. So because of Bruce Wayne's obsession with prolonging Batman, people have been murdered and now Bruce Wayne sees that with perfect clarity.

Yeah kinda strange but Batman IS insane. He isn't criminally insane, but the opposite. He has this unhealthy obsession of being the hero he couldn't have been during the time his parents were mugged and killed.
AwesomeJausem to add on to what you are saying it was more about the Duality of Man. Batman and Joker were the flip-sides of each others coins much like with Two-Face and Harvey Dent.... Every Character is one side of Batman not just Joker, Penguin is Rich and Resourceful, Harvey has two-sides split of one man, Riddler is intelligent, Prometheus ( son of criminals parents gunned down by police in front of him, sound similar?), etc. .. And Bruce Wayne is more a façade now he is Batman through and through he doesn't even acknowledge himself as being Bruce Wayne Talia is in love with who he is which is Batman... And another thing with him carrying Joker is that its an homage to the comics with the Death in the Family Arc where Batman carried Jason Todd(Robin) in his arms the same way he does Joker who was the one who ironically killed Jason Todd. Also the image appears in the Catwoman opening, it opens with the close-up of Cain carrying Abel after he kills him its more meant for symbolism that how much they differed they were even more alike, like Brothers... Its also worth noting that the League of Shadows or Talia's League of Assassins took her body long before Batman got back to her because her father is also missing in the end.... They are alive somewhere from being dipped in the Lazarus pits... she is the daughter of Ra's after all, so if she was dead she wasn't for too long... It also serves as a callback to when Ra's body disappeared in Arkham Asylum
