    Thanks for the great, informative lesson on steins, I find it’s tricky to get the volumes right. Here in Michigan, before COVID, there are bars/craft breweries who have “mug clubs” where patrons purchase a mug to use whenever they visit.

    • @BrokenArrowPottery
      @BrokenArrowPottery 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the idea of mug clubs! Good for potters and the patrons have something to remind them of where they'd been... Hopefully leaving sober enough not to need help remembering where they'd been...

    Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial Vaughan. I was watching with great attention because I have been trying to make 1 pint /1 lb beer tankards for a long time. So far, for a weight of 1lb clay, the largest volume I have managed is 3/4 pint in the finished piece so it made me laugh when you got 2 pints out of that first piece. However I am encouraged that these tankards are made with 11/2 lb and so I will give it a try.🙂

    • @Vsmithpots
      @Vsmithpots  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think 1 1/2 lbs is best so you can make them a little heavier, beer tankards get clinked. Cheers!

      @@freddiemoretti8456 It is in the black void of covid disruption. I just got the TH-cam email asking me to consider my channel as a revenue channel. My first thoughts are YUK! Since you visit other sites too, what do you think? It means ads interrupting the flow of the video. I have not noticed anything on Simon's videos, but he did mention he gets a penny for each click. I can ignore the email.
      I made 10 large jars this weekend with sculpted lids, video coming soon.

    First thought: "water in a gold fish bag which would be re-usable" could leave the gold fish out of the equation as it may mess with the sizing. Continuing to watch the rest. Would the plastic bag stick to the pot?

    • @Vsmithpots
      @Vsmithpots  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it would stick and cause a vacuum as you lifted it. I suppose I could pour the water out and then lift the bag out when it dries. Darn! That seems familiar. Oh well. Back to syphoning, just less dramatic. Someone asked for the rim device so I gave them your name. Is that OK? Cold up here but next week we hit 10C.

    Very nice tankards 👍 Not as many traditional pubs as there used to be where I live in the UK. No money in beer, so most of them are now restaurants with drinks! I can’t think of any near me that would be prepared to hold personal tankards behind the counter either... A few local breweries do ‘cask ale’ in boxes for home consumption, which is nice 😁
