- The scarecrow brings an unexpected weapon along to kill the Wicked Witch of The West. This 1939 iconic film is beloved by many, which is why it’s so surprising that many missed this when watching. After meeting the Wizard, Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow make their way to the castle of the Wicked Witch. When travelling through the haunted forest everyone brings out protection, most notably though, the Scarecrow straight up just pulls out a revolver pistol. Yes, you heard us right, for some unknown reason the Scarecrow is carrying a gun with him.

Proving he always had a brain
An American brain
a free rights brain
lmao beat me to it @@Vin_solo
You guys are funny.
@@aliced7505you are a sheep
When you are traveling the mean streets of Oz, you always gotta stay strapped.
Why didn’t he just piss on her doe
On oz
in case the classic book monsters called the Kalidahs the characters came upon
Bro said nah modern problems need modern solutions
Should’ve brought a squirt gun stg
@@noncatholiccatholicrat6309 Nobody knew.
“On Oz, I swear they ain’t never caught me lackin cuz” -Scarecrow
Damn... bro really hated those crows
No... and he didn't get the gun until they all went to try and kill the Wicked Witch. The gun was for her alone.
“Stay strapped or get gacked”
-Scarecrow, 1939
The tinman just carries an axe, who knew.
And a pipe wrench. And after all, his full name is the Tin Woodman. That axe is his bread and butter (metaphorically speaking, of course; he doesn't need to eat).
Bro may be fraid of fire but he be packin' heat
Lol too funny man
Yess
It's 1939. Of course the Scarecrow has a gun.
It's 1900.
@@MaskedMan66 no it was released in 1939
@@entbratthecool *facepalm* The movie is *set* in 1900.
@@MaskedMan66 no check the wiki they will say that movie is released in 1939
@@entbratthecool Focus, please. The story in the movie takes place in the year 1900, the year that the book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was first published.
Some deeper context as to why this was perfectly suited to The Scarecrow:
SPOILERS AHEAD
Despite the film taking many liberties with widdeling down the many tales of Dorothy and The Land of Oz, the 1939 classic left in one original line from the book series. I'LL MISS YOU MOST OF ALL, which Dorothy utters to Scarecrow, wasn't a diss towards the other protectors. Since each character she met were really the farmhands reimagined, Scarecrow held a special place. You see, back in Kansas, that farmhand actually had a romance going with Dorothy. He was the most protective of her. So, in Dorothy's imagination, The Scarecrow would be the most willing to kill anyone who harmed her! Don't believe me? Read the tales yourself. They're way deeper than you may think....
In the book, Dorothy was 9 years old. So what are you saying?
@@julien.4617 I think he is saying that as the series continued and she got older and older, they eventually fell in love. In the first book, we are only in Kansas with Dorothy for about a page and a half. The much longer Kansas intro in the movie was inspired by the 1920s silent Wizard of Oz movie (half its run time was set in Kansas), just as snow saving her from the poppies was adapted from the 1904 Broadway musical Wizard of Oz (which toured the country for decades afterward), as field mice rescue Dorothy in the book (the Wiz uses the field mice as they were in the public domain at the time).
@@RLucas3000 Okay, but the way he said it sounded kinda creepy. I never read of a romance between Dorothy and anyone in the books. Maybe I'm missing something? Which book?
Whittling.
And no, 12 year-old Dorothy did not have anything going on with 34 year-old Hunk. An early draft of the script had Dorothy as a 19 year-old and Hunk in his early 20's, and those versions of the characters did have an innocent romance going, but the producer, Mervyn LeRoy, wanted to stick as close to the book as was possible, which mean leaving Dorothy as a child (albeit older than she was in the book), so he 86ed the romance idea. The only vestige of that subplot was Dorothy's parting words to the Scarecrow..
@@julien.4617 Dorothy may have been as young as six, and there were no farm hands.
Scarecrow was always the funniest one
The scarecrow and Quincy from Dracula are cut from the same cloth.
Add Blade and Hellboy to the list of gun toting monster hunters.
Bro ain't dealing with any of the wicked witch's bullshit 💀
“Work smarter not harder”
Dorthy took one look at that gun and dropped to her knees giving him brain
Pedo.
Who didn’t notice this? Shouldn’t he also have had a weapon in that scene?
She had Glinda's kiss on her forehead, which prevented any harm from befalling her.
He's from Texas
ROFL
Quite the reverse, he's from Munchkinland.
They shoot first and think after. Everything moving is a target.
Gotta stay prepared these days lol
I remember seeing that as a kid and not thinking anything of it. They are trying to kill a witch afterall.
Thank you! A smart person at last!
Yeah, I remember seeing something like that too since I was like 3.
You aren't gonna catch him laking
omg, I played scarecrow in my wizard of oz play. I'm mad they missed this out, I want a pistol
This makes me feel like the only person who noticed it from the first time I watched it. I always thought the Wizard gave them their nets and weapons, or perhaps the Munchkins in The Emerald City, to fight off the Witch and her goons.
There were no Munchkins in the Emerald City.
No one acted shocked by someone having a gun in those days. Tons of people had them. Kids grew up using them and being taught how by their parents. They sure didn't freak out on internet videos or act shocked.
Especially when the scene was all about how they were there to try and KILL the Wicked Witch.
I noticed that
Ray at first probably hesitated taking
the gun but realized how funny it would look.
That movie was a hundred percent antique but I don't remember seeing a pistol
Doesn't matter, it was always there.
Ahh American culture at its finest!
How do you mean?
He was holding no gun.
Another factbos that the Tin Man was catching a giant wrench when he already had his Axe
Scarecrow walks in: *GTA music*
Dude wasn’t taking any chances. He was packing heat. He had brains all along.
I did see him hold a gun when I was watching it
Naturally, the smartest of the group was the one who brought the gun
Even on the tom and jerry wizard of oz scarecrow bring a gun same as in the movie
Must have seen this movie hundred of times when I was a kid and he never had a gun. Mandela effect
He had a gun.
Yes. And the Tin Woodman had a pipe wrench along with his axe. And the Cowardly Lion had a giant net and a spray can full of Witch Remover.
I guess the scarecrow cant be cut Lakin
LoL the scarecrow is smarter than he looks.🔫😂👍
He was packin some heat lol
Never noticed that ever in all my 30 plus years of watching this film !
And did you notice her hair was different she wasn’t wearing her pigtail braids anymore and was wearing it half up instead
That's because she had it done at the Wash & Brush-Up Company in the Emerald City, just like the Lion had his mane permed, the Scarecrow was laundered and filled with fresh straw, and the Tin Woodman was oiled and polished.
That Peace is a great equalizer. That's really epic, blow that wicked witch away.
We didn't need the whole summary of the movie. Just tell us he brought a gun.
in the haunted woods a scene was deleted of the jitterbug dance
He got it from the great & powerful oz that's why
Bro, ive watched this movie so many times how have i not noticed
Probably got it in the same place the Lion got the net and the Tin Man got that wrench thing
My boy strap 😂😂😂😂
Not him saying that he has no brainer but if he didn't how would he get the idea to bring a whole ass revolver
He has a brain, and they all were prepared for their mission, which was killing the Wicked Witch.
I swear he dosent have a brain but he is the smartest out of all three
He does have an intellect, which amounts to having a brain.
No one. Saw it because it was too dark. I Meant the gun.😅
Well, how else would he scare crows?
I thought you would say something about water
I noticed this but never really reacted
NEVER SCARED
Idiotic. They got their weapons at The Emerald City before they left.
Kinda telling us something we know even I know he brought a gun
Wow wow
mood
I already know
I noticed
I SEEN IT
I "saw" it lol
Cool
Can t kill a witch
Of course you can, as we discovered when Dorothy chucked that water at the Scarecrow's burning arm.
