We have a 2019 t@b 400 BDL and LOVE IT. Our longest trip was three months from Florida to Alaska. Love the design, there are two of us with two dogs and we are very comfortable. Since purchasing we’ve made a few upgrades/modification that for us make things just that much better. We swapped for lithium batteries, cut some weight removing the standard batteries and got more power with the lithium; removed the bathroom sink and installed a matching panel. This gives us tons of more room. Installed a soft start on the CoolCat that allows us to use a smaller generator when boondocking. Upgraded to Goodyear tires and moved the spare to the top of the trailer fork. Interesting note here, you have to remove the fender skirt to remove the tire due to it’s size. Also swapped the ceiling vent fan for a MaxFlow with remote. A couple of changes we would like to see - remove the light sensor (water tanks, sewer, etc.) and replace with digital gauge. I would like to see a rack like on the 320 model installed on the 400. Wouldn’t use it for luggage but to attach an awning as I don’t personally like using the rail system on the t@b.
Very happy with the 2021 changes. Sounds like they did listen to customer feedback on the size of the bed space and star gazer. The 2020 AC is the reason we didn’t buy one. Looking for a 2021 now!
I simple love the quality and design of the Necamp campers BUT Necamp needs to create a 400 camper that can fit into an 8' garage. You guys do this and it will sell like hotcakes! So many of us have community restriction on campers and just can not leave them on our property. The 320 will fit into our 8' garage with room to spare but just is not big enough for our family. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take the 320 height and combine that with the 400 length and you have a sure winner!
If there's a plan for the 400 Boondock to add a cassette toilet and the same exterior features (roof rack and bumper bars) as on the Boondock 320 S, consider me the easiest mark. I want something small(ish) and practical to tow behind my much loved Lexus GX 460.
Looks great. I use Bluetti AC200P with hi power dc output to trailors and eb240 (2) feeding 4000 watts AC inverters with 6800 watts over night. Jeep can carry solar system (saturn jupiter mars venus excluded) 1800 watt panels) and tow this guy. Nomad style will be popular soon
This is great. Happy to see that you opened up the bed area wall so it is not as cramped. Some of the other issues I have heard from owners seem to have been addressed too, although I don’t think they were mentioned here: 1. I have heard that the sink was slow to drain, but this new sink drain looks larger so maybe that has been improved? 2. The USB ports in the dinette area used to be under the table which made them inaccessible when the bed was made. It looks like they are on the side now, which means that the USB ports are now accessible when the dinette is converted to a bed. Is this correct?
Angela R both of those were addressed in the 2020 model: plenty of accessible USB ports, and the new sink design is fantastic with a large basin and fast draining.
Thanks for your question! We do not sell awnings, so we are unable to demonstrate them. However, you could reach out to some of our Facebook groups for recommendations on the awnings they have found!
I wish there was one more portal window next to the bed (especially in the solo) and a curved skylight over the dinette, like the one in the Avia. Otherwise, this is my dream travel trailer. Also, a pull-out cutting board above the top kitchen drawer would be 👌
Hey, Jody! That's totally understandable. We actually just put a cassette toilet in our new TAB 320. We'll let our design team know you'd like one in the TAB 400 as well!
I thought that too, but it triples the number of dumps, fills up faster, and takes more time. It's a myth that it's relatively easy to dump in a toilet and assumes it's permitted everywhere. You still need to rinse it and where do you do that? The tank on a cassette needs chemicals and water every time you dump and if you wait till you get back in the trailer you're wasting scarce freshwater.
The days when you could just roll in with your cassette toilet and dump anywhere are long gone. Gas stations, even pit toilets in parks are no Bueno. People will scream bloody murder...I've even heard campgrounds say no...too many "accidents"...if you're just out for the wkend ..then back home , well okay.
What is the wall material made out of? The main cabin material appears to be the same as that used in the wet bath. If that is wood, how do you expect that to hold up with all the moisture in the bathroom? 40k seems grossly overpriced for this tiny camper. I can see if it had actual independent suspension, but you just slapped offroad tires on a single axle.

Great design, EXCEPT for the porthole area behind the dinette table. Makes the table and seating much more cramped, and adds absolutely nothing worthwhile. Get rid of it. Waste of space.
Thanks for your feedback! The porthole brings in natural light to the camper, and many of our owners use the space for storage as there is a small cubby area where the porthole window is 😄

Thanks for the feedback. We'll pass it along to our Design Team.
