    Great video!
Real Simple, straight forward, and gosh, Its from the RIGHT Angle..
Cant see why people comment about your hand's,
They are actually a big part of making it all completely clear to everyone..
The upper strand behind, through the middle of the opposite strands, and right back to the first side.. Cant get simpler.

Very well done demo. a few corrections. What you are doing is a Standard Whip Makers Plait. It is not a Herringbone pattern but a Cowtail, Single Ring or in our world Whipmaker's Plait. A traditional Herringbone would look like a square pattern, each side consisting of all blue, all yellow, blue then yellow creating essentially 4 sides alternating colors. If you're looking for work we need a plaiter! :)

You can end with a terminal knot or back braid it into itself to create a hand loop.

Love this knot but I am trying to work out a more "hand friendly" material for hand bag straps. Firm yet pliable in the hand. I also am financially challenged so cost is an enormous factor in all my crafts. Thanks a lot.

Are they called forceps? Wow, alpaca wool? I'm allergic to nylon and most of the ropes I need, I have to make out of baking twine, because that is cotton and cotton ropes already made are expensive. Is alpaca wool more expensive than cotton? It looks like it would be stronger than cotton. Nice video. Thanks for the instructions.

  • @DutchHollow

Well, the math gets funky but if you want a 6 lead multiply that by 4. So when you fold the strand in half you have (2) 12 ft strands.

+Dutch Hollow Acres Just do it, makes a tutorial on something, but doesn't show the most important step. I can't afford to dish out another $30 to learn just one step that can be taught on cam. I don't care if it is too complicated or if your hands get in the way. Just try, I am sure some people would want to know this.

no difference how to start. I'm just threading 4 strands through the snap folded in half and layering them light, dark, light, dark and start to braid just as you see in this video. No fancy back braids or reverse braids to start. This is a very straight forward start.
