  • In this tutorial I show you how to make a 6- strand round braid. This braid works great in key chains, bracelets, dog leashes, and in macrame projects too! You can be really creative with this fun braid. You can also use different colors to make an even prettier braid!

    I love the looks but I wish one of these tutorials would tell you how long each rope/paracord needs to be for each foot of length.

    thank you for sharing that with us, it will add variation and interest to designs. Question though, do you have to start out the rope the way you have it hanging or can the ropes be hanging side by side?

    • @GrayWonders
      @GrayWonders  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you should be able to do this braid with them hanging side by side. The start of the braid will most likely look a little different though until the ropes get gathered together the more you braid. But I suggest just playing around with it to see what you like 😊

    • @eddarby469
      @eddarby469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She has her three chords tied using a larks head knot at the start. You can just tie six chords side-by-side to set them up at the beginning if you prefer. Alternatively, you can tie three individual larks head knots side-by-side. You can do some interesting things with different color strands.

  • @curtriceennis2924
    @curtriceennis2924 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Such a pretty braid. I imagine it can also work with eight cords or more. But, how can you tie - off your work at the end of your project, when the cord is a slippery nylon fusible cord, and it wants to come undone even after your last square knot ? Thank you for your time and advice.

    Thanks so much for making this tutorial. It's the only thing I've seen that might give me the results I need(a rounded chain of yarn hopefully,instead of flat)to be able to try a project I've been wanting to do..I keep wondering though,would it just be overkill to try doing this w/my med.4 worsted weight yarn & then try to use the chains to hand/finger crochet something like a chunky blanket? I do realise how painstakingly long this has the potential to take,esp.for a beginner @ both this technique & crotchet,like myself,but I can't get any #7 jumbo yarn rn..

    Hi, could you please show us, how to make the first knot (lark head) with six strands, thanks !

    • @GrayWonders
      @GrayWonders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! This knot is done exactly like a normal larks head knot, just with multiple strands held together. Let me know if your still unsure on how to do it and I’ll try to post a video on my instagram page 😊

    Are there other techniques to finish the end of this braid?

  • @heidilarson6925
    @heidilarson6925 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have a rule of thumb for finished length vs what you cut and start with? Example - I want to make 10' reins for my horse tack - what length does each strand need to be to account for the braiding? Thank you.

    • @eddarby469
      @eddarby469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Assume you will lose one-quarter to one-third of the length in the twists.

    What a great tutorial... I have a knife on which I want to tie a six strand lanyard. My predicament is that the hole in the end of my handle is too small to do anything but pass three flat strands of cord made by pulling the core out of three strands of paracord. I can only pull the three ends of cords through my knife handle, which gives me six strands to work with. Do I have to tie a knot in the cords prior to starting this braid or can I simply start it using the method you showed on this tutorial? Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing your reply.

    • @GrayWonders
      @GrayWonders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never tried it before, but I do believe you should be able to just start tying the braid without any other starting knot.

    • @eddarby469
      @eddarby469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can just start braiding. However, you may wish to pass a metal ring through the hole and then braid on the metal ring to prevent it from cutting your strands if the hole is not well rounded.

    Can you make a 6 strand flat braid like this also

    • @eddarby469
      @eddarby469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the six strand flat braid you don't pass behind and go over-under across all five strands, or you can pass over three and behind two.
