Dr.Nabil, I am currently learning orthopaedics aided by the videos in your playlist. Thank you for bridging the gap between book information and simple understanding . I have a new found fascination for the subject thanks to you.

Professor, I am a fan of your videos. The expositions are clear, the information detailed, and the visuals matchless-- a combination that for me, makes each lesson stick in the hippocampus like superglue.
The osteoporosis video is the exception. Entangled with so many %'s, to sell what point?
That we older people lose bone? We lose many things and gain others. Dexa for what??
Drinking and cigarettes probably spends the time better used for weight bearing and posture exercises, or hearty, nutritious meals. Are we going to give a "bone" drug for that?
The female triad: Dexa? Folksies who have a seriously critical nutrition problem by definition? Fix the nutrition problem, don't kid anybody by offering a Dexa then a "bone" drug… I say.

What are we suppose to eat for healthy bones. I wish someone really knew if dairy products were good or bad in this context.

It is Dexa Scan. It is not a drug, but a machine to scan your bones. It is just like CT Scan, but CT Scan not for bone density. You need Dexa Scan to scan for bone density.

I am astounded that the add at the beginning of this informative section promotes cheese! Dairy products create an acidic reaction in the blood. The blood then absorbs calcium and phosphorus from the bones. It sends the calcium out in our urine and keeps the phosphorus to maintain a proper PH.

Don't make this a topic that affects only broads; men get it too and not just the senile variation. Was diagnosed at age 44. Non--smoker, non--drinker, no drugs, plenty of hiking and cycling, good nutrition, normal hormones ... all they told me it's because I have a small frame and am lean, but you have no influence on how you're built. Inherited it from maternal grandmother who was also short and thin.

Hello, please note the information given in 9:53 . Genetics can be a cause ( that cannot be controlled). However, I do agree that the classification doesn't involve men of younger age groups.

it's the collagen we loose the ability to keep up, raw eggs help a lot, to keep healthy collagen but it takes 300-500 days for healthy 30 year old to make when this collagen dies bone remodeling stops and no amount of calcium / minerals can be laid down ! like cutting off a arm its just gone and body will not regrow it when it dies

Just like when a baby is born you cannot break it's bones as they are collagen, this never changes, our bodies use our bone's collagen as a mineral warehouse and most Dr's and Nutritionist have this BACKASSWARDS !!! Osteoporosis is a condition affecting the Collagen not the mineral deposits ( Put it another way - without the collagen we would have no place to put the minerals on the bones / teresa chase my first question to you would be what is you diet, for example if your not getting massive amounts of ALL 20 aminos and especially all of the essentials each day your body will break down your own muscles ( self digesting your own muscles to get these Mandatory aminos) to make the some 76 Billion body cells each day and some 300-400 Billion blood and immune system cells ( if your healthy !) if sick you may need 10 x or more that much / I have a huge group many with disabling conditions and 99% or more do not even know how to eat ! example we can make massive amounts of collagen it just takes time some 300-500 days for a healthy 30 year old and it can take 2x that or longer for someone age 50 ( this is for people in great health ) if sick may take way longer, for example if you have Arthritis you almost certianlly have a mycoplasma infection or some other infection both attacking your collagen and causing a autoimmune attack if this is happening the odds of you developing Osteoporosis is almost 100% here is a list of what you need in your diet each day ( Preferably at each meal ) nutritionwonderland.com/2009/07/understanding-our-bodies-amino-acids/ /// I did a 5 part series from Amgen on OP and what happens is when the collagen in the bone is eaten away or destroyed for what ever reason then the body will ignore the bone modeling process - literally as if the collagen was never even a part of that area of the bone thus the minerals will no longer be deposited, one member long ago posted me her Dexa scan I gave her a warning that she was on a BAD WRONG sugar diet ( Plant based diet, loaded with GMO's and Pesticides ) she kept on taking Fosimax or some other junk to seal in her minerals then after about 2-3 years she said her doctor Took her off everything sent her home and said he could no longer help her as the collagen in her bones was simply gone and you cannot regrow it ( you can Repaire it as long as body detects it is needed to be repaired ! ) but once that part of bone is dead and gone body will ignore it and the obvious bone remodeling process in that area will stop / IF you have ever picked up a old dryed out bone with no collagen you will notice it has Virtualll no weight ( or strength ) 35% of our bodies weight is supposed to be Collagen type 1 - per equal size it is stronger than steel and flexable ! in OP your losing you collagen and again you cannot keep minerals on collagen that does not exist !

They focus on minerals but should focus on Collagen
To understand osteoporosis, it is important to learn about bone. Made mostly of collagen, bone is living, growing tissue. Collagen is a protein that provides a soft framework, and calcium phosphate is a mineral that adds strength and hardens the framework. This combination of collagen and calcium makes bone strong and flexible enough to withstand stress. More than 99 percent of the body's calcium is contained in the bones and teeth. The remaining 1 percent is found in the blood. www.niams.nih.gov/Health_Info/Bone/Bone_Health/
