Dr. Jian Luo (Utah State Univ.): "Ferrocene Catholytes for Aqueous/Organic Redox Flow Batteries"

Dr. Luo describes his research developing and testing new organic redox molecules for use in flow batteries, with an eye to applications as storage of excess renewable energy production. Dr. Luo explains how new molecules were envisioned and synthesized based on electrochemical measurements, leading to new, more stable redox molecules that exhibit high cyclability.
