My name is Ben Meekins, and I'm a Research Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina in the Chemical Engineering (bit.ly/2ZU4scH) department in the College of Engineering and Computing! My research interests are primarily in energy and catalysis, especially electrochemistry and hydrogen generation, with a smattering of fuel cells and organic electrosynthesis.
My department is renowned for its work in catalysis, ranging from fundamental studies of particles and their behavior all the way to practical, industrially relevant experiments at reactor-scale. We also have an outstanding Biomedical Engineering (bit.ly/3mD4bU5) department that features research in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and other biomolecular approaches!
This channel serves as an archive of (mostly) all the talks given on the Open Science Presentations livestream. You can catch the livestream every Friday night at 10:30 PM EST at www.twitch.tv/open_science ! Come check it out!

Sciencepalooza 2022 is here! Details in description below!
Hello yes, I'm the real Dr Craig Fraser. I have some information. I have someone impersonating me. I understand Dani has never met him. That's the problem with the internet.
good job
Thanks for this awesome info
I highly recommend that Dr. Amy Peterson (U. Mass - Lowell) refrain from presenting work that is under review or subject to future changes. Much of the content she presented here has now been modified and no longer accurately reflects her published work. Viewers are advised to read her updated peer-reviewed papers or journals only from reputable sources in additive manufacturing. -- Dr. Bill Phillips, Ph.D.
Great lecture
I cant believe I saw all of this just for an academic competition 😥
Which competition? And thanks for watching!
the racemic a-bromocarbonyl is achiral at 4:30
Really good catch. In the original paper (PMID 18772399) MacMillian uses the term "racemic alpha-bromocarbonyl" though only 1 entry out of 12 in that table is a racemic precursor and that reaction proceeded with only modest diastereoselectivity (5:1).
Thank you for inviting me to chat about my work Ben! 🎉
It was my pleasure!
Very informative!
Glad you think so!
Nice talk Monika!😊
I agree!
Its like getting my tooth pulled listing to this talk.... Repeated sentences and the cocaine snorting bloke asking questions..
doc awesome wow
👏🏾👏🏾
Very cool! Thank you!
Yes baby!!!! I'm sooo proud of you!!
Great discussion!

I would suggest contacting Antonio directly to find out more :)
How do we know the improvement seen isn't an increase in "real" working memory, but more like the subject is learning how to take full control of their executive control system to match the processing pattern of the task with their working memory capacity?
That's a great question. I would recommend contacting Drs. Jaeggi and Seitz. They're both great people, and I'm sure they'd be happy to try and answer your question!
I was assigned a research in mechanochemical synthesis, this video is very helpful (alumni)
Wonderful!
nice
So the question is, how to extract ricin! There are also PSP toxins, ASP toxins, are many elderly paralysis caused by food? I want to do this experiment
That’s my frieenddd 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Beeeee🤗🤗😁💞
Lydia well done! Proud of you♡
Thanks Maud
U are tooo much ❤❤❤
Nice job Lydia 👍👍
Thanks Reveille
Thank you for this. I am working on a tv programme and we are trying to find a test for ricin or ricinine that can be performed on a dead character and his live son. Does anyone know what should be suggested for this?? Thanks
I would recommend contacting Devin Swiner directly. Her website is in the video description.
very good presentation thank you Dr Siegler, do perovskite-on-silicon tandem solar cells contain lead and are they stable ?
I would recommend contacting Tim on Twitter to ask him this question directly. Thanks for watching the video!
Feedback on the format (not the content, that was awesome!): my methodology professor told us not to clutter the ppt with lots of text - we should instead focus on providing students (audience here) with pictures/maps/graphs to support our speech. If there is too much text our kids focused exclusively on that and did not even listen to the teachers, so I agree. I don't teach in a school anymore but i found that some of those techniques transfer to internet lectures quite well. In my experience what should be on the slide is just what students should remember. Everything else should be illustrations and multimedia (granted my students were kids). And if that is followed, then the lecturer delivering audio online can use the ppt to organize the speech more freely. When it comes to delivery, there was not enough emphasis verbally and tonally on transitions between different topics, and i found it hard to understand where we were in the presentation. Internet is different than in person and we can't see gestures or body language to help us. :( In my experience what works is varying pause length to show how important a transition is, and speaking louder or quieter to emphasize how important something is. But again, this was very informative. Thank you!
Im going to catch your stream one day lol DR
Hello dr , how are you ? I'm also working on water splitting
