Street Fighter IV is a sub-sequel that takes place several months into 1994 after the events of Street Fighter II and before the events of Street Fighter V (thus is chronologically set before Street Fighter III which takes place in the future).
After M. Bison's survival following his encounter with Akuma, the S.I.N. corporation began another fighting tournament in order to draw out the most powerful street fighters on Earth to complete the BLECE project. Each World Warrior has their own reasons for entering this tournament, but S.I.N.'s real desire is to lure Ryu to them in order to analyze the Satsui no Hadō, believed to be the last piece of data needed to complete BLECE.
Gouken, having recently awakened from a coma after surviving an attack by Akuma which occurred between the events of Street Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha about seven years before, knowing of SIN's interest in Ryu, starts looking for him to instruct to stop his Satsui no Hado development. He instructs Ryu and shows him a power known as the Mu no Ken (or Power of Nothingness), which is essentially the opposite of Satsui no Hadō, where calm and tranquility transcend human powers.
Akuma, knowing what Gouken has done to Ryu, the evil brother has become driven with fury and has a fight to the death with Gouken once again, this time releasing everything from his Satsui no Hadō against all the power of Gouken's Mu no Ken.
It turns out that Crimson Viper was a double agent, and she betrayed Seth, in addition to Juri who also wanted to see Shadaloo's total downfall, and set up the fight between M. Bison and Seth. Although Seth took over SIN, M. Bison managed to take on the consciousness of another clone thanks to the scientists at Shadaloo, and ends up with Seth.
So M. Bison is behind the SIN, letting the plans go, while everyone thinks he is dead, and the Seth that the players find at the end of the game, is just a clone, after all the real Seth was killed by M. Bison.
Abel, who is a fighter with no memory, supposedly was saved by Charlie Nash and joins Chun-Li and Guile to destroy the SIN headquarters, so they manage to end this organization. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

Space Battleship Yamato helped inspire the Hadoken. The ship had a beam called the Hadohou that would obliterate anything in its path. So the designers gave Ryu a similar move.

@TheSamiryoussef They are the best friends, just competitive at what they do, fighting. It is what they both consider their funnest activity. They both grew up training under the same sensei, both with completely different personality and fighting is what brought them close as the best friends that they are. They will never be enemies in other words.

Not to be mean or anything, but there's an error in the subtitles. Akuma(Gouki) killed Goutetsu (with the Shun Goku Satsu), not Gouken.

damn i wonder why is most street fighter movies and series they put akuma only in the thoughts of ryu.the only sf movie i remember akuma as an antagonist was sf alpha generations...

That's why I said there were a few series that stood out and didn't follow the constant crap loop, but yeah you understand. I haven't seen Baccano and never got into OP, and honestly didn't like the 2nd season of Code Geass. Everything else you named I might have minor problems with but nothing is perfect and I find them good series in general.

@ROGERDERBY I do know an extreme amount considering i am Japanese. maybe here in america there are fewer adult viewers, but in japan its a whole different story. even 40-50 year old watch/Read Anime/Manga
The three of them One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach are somehow based of DBZ. So there is no need to tell why it s so great. And Bleach has a somehow complex plot also. I have seen many series, played many videogames, and yet, Aizen is the best villain I have ever seen....By far. Bleach plot is not as emotive as Naruto's, but in some aspects it is even philosophic....That is my opinion though....

@ROGERDERBY I never understood it really, I mean besides a anime that has NO english voice-overs, I can understand (though I really want to learn Japanesse). And there are SOME situations where you'd want to see the japanesse subbed version rather than the english dub, but thats only if the english dub is TRULY THAT BAD. and some animes appear to be in that situation... its actually just because that anime is aweful (Naruto is my best example)

Try them out you actually might find yourself enjoying them ;). I'll admit finding a good shounen anime is like wading through a lake of sewage to find clean water.

Ignorance is a beautiful thing isn't it? You guys really have no idea what the Japanese are like. The phrase "Big in Japan" was born because once you have fans in Japan, they never let you die. I knew a forty year old Japanese naval officer who still watched old ass anime from the seventies named Battleship Yamato. Naruto and One Piece are huge in Japan, and they are chocked full of incredibly complex plot devices and mature themes. Of course you'd know that if you gave them a chance.

@ROGERDERBY No subs are quite good. They are good for many reasons, but the main reason is the voice acting. Japanese voice acting is top notch as compared to English voice actors. Most good Japanese voice actors get paid as much as actors here in us. They are that good. saying Subs suck is ignorant and damn right stupid thing to say. You are obviously white and not Asian.

It's SF4 with Juri so I thought I'd give it a watch.Your following comment shows how obviously butthurt you are when people talk bad about an obvious shitty genre that lacks good plot or characters.Sure there are a few series that stand out and are actually good,but the majority that exists in the genre is complete garbage. I do understand how there might be people that might get attached to some of the series,it's no diff. to the people who like Michael Bay's Transformers movies or J.Cs Avatar.
