When I was growing up in the 90's before they actually told us what Ryu was saying. Everytime he did the Shoryuken I thought he was actually saying "SURE YOU CAN !!!" and I thought to myself. . I'm using him and he's giving ME encouragement. That's awful nice of him. I had a chuckle years later when I found out what he was actually saying.
@mlong9475 I was in high school when SFII debuted. I saw a kid from home room and asked him who he played as for the first time. He replied, “The karate guy named Rye-You (pronounced like Rye bread). I couldn’t do his “All You Can” though.” I laughed because I wasn’t sure what the move was called either. 🥋 🐉 👊

2:29 street fighter 4 had the best Shoryuken ultimate. It had the most weight and impact. Hadn't had one nearly as epic since. You can hear the bones crackling and the way he rib checks makes me really feel like it does damage. The splat noise at the end was a nice touch making it sound as though he pretty much separated his opponents head from their neck with he uppercut. The music even cuts completely from the moment his fist makes contact. They need to bring this version back. I like the hypers being dramatic.
Still confused on why they removed it as an actual ultimate, At least it’s back in 6.

@@nightwolf9375 if you're referring to why they didn't bring it to Sfv, they only had 1 super per character, and since his shinku hadouken is iconic and his first super, they chose that. SF6 is built different compared to sfv. Which is a massive improvement I really hated sf5.

A personal favorite is the MVC Infinte Shoryuken. Fighting that evil just makes it so cool. Especially if you do it during an Infinity Storm.

Never really liked playing as Ryu or Ken, but when I started playing with Sakura I ended up having a lot of fun. A good balance between those two and Chun Li's speed. Plus I'm terrible at spacing shoryukens.
Training proper distancing is for losers. Running up to the enemy from across the globe is how it's done

Im pretty sure Yuri is an SNK character not an SF one
that was a SvC tho, which has street fighter characters in it. and seeing as we're counting crossover games anyways having a little nugget there to show yuri's way too uncanny of a similarity (well, more like the same guy who designed the shotos went to SNK and made her the same way he did those to begin with than a simple similarity really)

Why do these videos never showcase that Ryu has 2 different animations for his Shin Shoryuken, one when it doesn't KO the opponent and one that does, the animation changes to the SF4 KO screen

Koryuken will always be my favorite, because if you destroy someone with Dan... That's their pride, and skills gone.

You know what, I will love to see a new character, that's basically more or less, a woman version of Akuma/Gouki, it's because, there needs to be more female characters and also more villain characters, when it comes to fight games in general and so, the idea of colliding both at the same. I can really rattled off a lot of female villain characters, other people can, but I can't.
The slow-mo Ryu one is still my favorite

Sakura and Kairi from SF EX alpha 1 are my fav , i like Kairi cause sometimes he will uppercut while stomach is facing the screen not like others with their backs
As I remember, D.Dark also has a similar move with Shoryuken with Kairi and Allen, they have so much cool variety combo.
Woulda been nice to see all the different specialties of the different shoryukens. As someone who doesn't play sf, I know- at the very least- Sakura runs up to someone all the way to half the stage before attacking. But it wasn't shown here
There is Ryu, who just does the basic Dragon Punch into the sky, Ken- who does several of them or in most games- just nakes a large pillar of fire with his uppercut- then Sakura who dashes at the opponent before using her Dragon Punch, and Akuma who's DP is almost instantaneous.
My theory on why it changes: its usually the same thing but all of them give them difrent names and acasionally put their own twist(s) to it

Even Yuri from The Art of Fighting does the Shoryuken(Dragon Punch)!!! I wouldn't recall anyone from a SNK game taking a page out of Ken & Ryu's book.

Only just realised Dan uses a Koryu-ken. If I’m right that’s a rising dragon carp fist. He’s not even a dragon yet, he’s still a carp in the middle of becoming a dragon.
Dan alpha 2 dragon punch was awesome and it was never seen again. First dan never extended his arm for the dragon punch, plus it had that sick flash effect.
Honorable mention: Mega Man X's uppercut
Ryu's final smash in smash ultimate was included but Ken has a shinryuken and it wasn't here :(

Oooh you missed a couple bud. Both Capcom vs Snks SVC chaos. Plus also Ryo and Robert from Snk Those were original sprite designs for all those upper cut having characters.
The title should amend to Uppercut Evolution. Since some of them were not actually Shoryuken.

Pretty sure you forgot some. No portable console versions of this move. Gameboy, GBA, Neo Geo Pocket. You could have included Mega Man, Cyclops, Oro they have variants of the this move but mimic the signature stance of this move.
