Reminds me of the times my parents would clearly just watch things I’m interested in when I was younger. It’s good to remember to express interest in other people’s interest cause you never know what you might learn. That’s the exciting part

on a different note, i recently saw your video on social security. found it fascinating. I live in Putnam ny about an hour away from ny city original from Yonkers which is 15 minutes from nyc. Sunday my wife and I visited the FDR residence in New Hyde Park. The park ranger told a story of how when polio got to its worst FDR would try and walk to get his leg to come back but would get so far and fall down until some one came and picked him up. he did this every day. the ranger said it was a testament to his dedication to try and walk.. learned a lot this Sunday..

Pat you are a non-negotiable part of my day. Hope to be like you one day.
I've done the same with my two boys. I instilled key values in them and allowed them to become the persons they wanted to be - knowing they had a good moral compass and knew right from wrong, and that they could be whatever they wanted to be. They are both enlisted now, my oldest went into a Commo MOS and is in a SOCOM unit at Bragg right now, and my youngest is following my footsteps and is in Infantry OSUT at Benning right now (both Army 20 and 19 years old). They are COMPLETELY different people and rarely enjoy each other's company because they are so different, and that's fine with me because I didn't want carbon copies of ME, like most parenting people I know. Funny that one resembles me physically and the other has my heart and spirit, but both are fine young men with lots of successes and failures to discover ahead of them.
There is no greater leadership role we can assume than being a GOOD parent, and nurturing THEIR interests over our own. I created fine young adults who are responsible, determined and VERY individual (as humans tend to be). Important to do what you love so that you will be the very best at it, and I wouldn't hire someone who did not LOVE what they do. A little common sense and logic goes a long way!
