We have an ol' 1980 4640 that we run the shit out of to this day. We have lots of newer ones, but it seems we always hook up the 4640 more than ever. It has been completely rebuilt *twice* and is needing a third. It's big enough for the big jobs, small enough for the small jobs, it has a PTO that will turn anything into a pile of junk if you're not careful it's got so much torque (one of the rebuilds we upgraded the gearsets) and starts in 0 degree weather on the first lick. An awesome machine.
It, and the Massey Ferguson behind it, are owned by the guy who built the hitch for the 2 - 10 bottom plows. He lives down by Ivesdale, IL, in Champaign County. I'm pretty sure he's also the one sitting on the plow hitch when it's being pulled by Earthquake.
This was from the year 2015 before, it was crazy crowded on Thurs Aug 24, 2017 with gators and golf carts lined up to watch the plowing. Several hundred carts with people 4 to 5 carts deep on both sides lined up. Look at 12:18 in this video. Bat crazy!
Jeez, the utv's and golf carts are like locusts, and I'll bet it gets worse as the years go by. Sooner or later someone's going to have to take charge and curtail that.
The Half Century of Progress is so spread out, that to try and walk to whole show is dang near impossible. Thus, there are a bunch of UTV and Golf Carts.
Awesome machines. That 6030 Deere was peddling the throttle some. You could tell he wanted to turn it loose........ Way too many ATV's and way too close to the tractors. Someone loose it and lot of folks would be hurt. Would like to go someday.
4020's are a great all around tractor, they have a lot of power but yet not a real big tractor, Johndeere had it figured out back in the 70's even, were also a smooth machine...
+Keith Brettell there is nothing on the market today that compares with the size, weight and horse power of the Rite 750. There are 620 hp tractors built in 2017 but they are not as physically large as the 750. There are two tractors bigger than the 750. They are the 1979 Big Bud 16V-747 which is the worlds biggest tractor and is rated at 1,100 hp and the 1984 Big Bud 740 which cranks out 1,000 hp.
Simon Richard Europeans do use them a lot now but in Ireland, as a young boy, I only ever saw a reversible being used for the first time in 1993. up to then farmers used non-reversible plows of up to 8 moldboards.
Wow, ya don't see a 20 blade plow to often.. Looks like the ATV and golf cart industry is booming there LOL... Why just not pull a 10 blade plow with one tractor instead of two chained together for 20 blades? And there goes a small two wheel drive John Deer pulling 8 blades all by it's self. That's what was popular in my area as a kid that I drove. My favorite tractor is the Farmall H not show here..

This is just for fun. In real farming one big tractor would be the way to go. For the show it’s all about horse power and showing it work.
