Awesome! This is way better than watching the Tuttles, build brand new bikes with brand new parts back in 2001, ever was. I just sold almost the exact bike with 96" S&S, only it was a hardtail, for $3500 and bought a '99 UMC Ground Pounder St (113 S&S) for $3500 two days later. I think these bikes are going to make a big come back, not by big manufactures like Big Dog, Iron horse and UMC but by guys like us rebuilding them now that they are classic.

Awesome, finally someone who somewhat embraces this part of customization again. When i was a kid i loved the looks of those custom bikes but at one point it became just too much of what people did with it. I still got a softspot in my heart for those bikes tho, but as someone who now owns a twin cam softail i am a bit disappointed that you just can't get all those parts for certain softails anymore. (Especially when living outside of the US, where it becomes especially hard to get those parts second hand when the company doesn't exist anymore, for example)
Not many comments on here, but a few views. Loving the idea of this build.! I have a '99 springer softail. In July 2019 we had an accident and both survived. I'm still healing, and haven't started rebuilding. I'll be building and riding again spring of this year. Looking forward to some inspiration...Keep up the hard work.!

Love the build idea. I'm a evo die hard (fxr). Still like the build style, my fxr is lower than most go fit these days! I miss countersteer! I read common tread too but it's not the same! I always love your harley content for j&p
Sarcasm alert. You're lucky it says evo softail or it'd be fighting words given all the research I'm doing for my softail build plan. Watercooled knucklehead. With mechanical fuel injection. Modern suspension dampers aka shocks in a springer fork set up. Rubbed mounted softail with a knucklehead but gave up on that bit. Turbo charged maybe super instead. Making more hp than the evil mother drag knucklehead but streetable. While being able to kick and electric start it. With at least a 6 speed tranny and set up with quick shifting. Plus the other stuff on improving handling. And increasing wheel size. Plus being able to ride tires rated for at least 160mph Gonna be a long project but sooo sooo worth it.

That suspension rode horrible. Hope they have some better rear suspension tech on the rear shocks today.
