    Thanks for showing us the difference between that one and the cheaper one. I went to Home Depot and that was the only one they had the cheaper one that's the one I purchased. Great video great instructions. Also thanks for the extra tip at the end regarding aluminum versus fiberglass and the possibility of conducting electricity. I never knew that

    Great explanation of how it operates. 👍

    The one use aspect I was hoping to see is having the offset utilized against the building to keep the ladder away from the gutter and then extending above the roof a minimum of 3' so you could access the roof. The thing that is not shown here to assume that is viable is the upper surface of the attaching bracket to see if it can be used as a step to ascend up to the higher rungs and onto the roof. Of course to do that the offset would have to be attached a minimum of 4' to 5' below the top of the extension section. So is the a possibility ?

      This is not made for the purpose you mention. As can be seen in the video the "extension" of the stabilizer is much too short to allow it to be set off the building to miss guters.

      @@starastronomer Quite so of this building design, with the overhang of the soffit to fascia and at the gable end and the fact that the gutters being at the end of the eaves at a single story the offset would have to be resting on the shingles. I found a better solution later for my metal building made by Levelok, two horseshoe shaped tubing with a 45º bend where the tubes are inserted in the ladder rung holes from the side. In my instance they could rest against either the galvalume roofing panels or the side panels.

      This is the sturdiest way IMO th-cam.com/video/zfCuG7KMH5k/w-d-xo.html and another option th-cam.com/video/9HZSAzPwrI4/w-d-xo.html When I'm using a ladder safety is number one. I really like the ACRO standoff.

    I notice from the video that the stabilizer is placed on the wall. Can it also be placed on the roof itself.

    • @starastronomer
      @starastronomer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This would be a much better option: th-cam.com/video/zfCuG7KMH5k/w-d-xo.html I would not use the Werner AC78 for a roof.

    I was hoping to see you actually climb the ladder in order to fully demonstrate its ability to stabilize a moving worker. Ladders feel tricky, even when well-planted. Does this stabilizer actually create a safer feeling when reaching and shifting one's weight?

    Isn’t it supposed to be installed on the top two rungs?

  • @hippa2dahoppa2

    why does it say not for use on type2 and type 3 ladders? it doesnt explain why anywhere. also can you rest it on the metal roof so your above the gutters? i feel it would be more safe and easier to get on the roof or to not get on the roof but clean th gutters slightly below me

    • @starastronomer
      @starastronomer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hippa2dahoppa2 Not sure on both questions. I use regular ladder standoffs for leaning a ladder against my roof.

    • @numberformat

      yea the not for use on type 2 and 3 aluminum and fiberglass ladders is a bit confusing as most ladders are made of that material. Ans when you google type it shows different types of ladders like step and extension.

    • @starastronomer
      @starastronomer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you going to use it for the roof? If you are I wouldn't use the Ladder Max or the QuickClick. The "footprint" that touches the roof is too small and could gouge the roof. JUST MY OPINION, and I am VERY picky. Another product for a standoff for roof use is this one I use and reviewed: th-cam.com/video/zfCuG7KMH5k/w-d-xo.html It spreads the surface touching the roof much better. Here you will see my comparison of both th-cam.com/video/9HZSAzPwrI4/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps.

      It will be on the roof. IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT YOU WON'T BE ON THE ROOF. That has NOTHING to do with it. It's the small area making contact on the roof that can damage the roof WHILE YOUR WEIGHT IS ON THE LADDER. Thought I made that very clear??? Did you see the video links I provided???
