I can accept the fact that Charles doesn’t love Diana because love cannot be forced. But it is Charles’ abuse, hatred and malicious attitude toward her that I cannot bear, which is also why I think this is the most repulsive scene in the whole TV series. @Nathan Sfendji the Royal family brings in far more money in tourism than they use! They bring in millions of pound to the economy through the fashion industry every year because of the clothes they wear! Most of their money comes from their land. They have cut down on their spendings significantly in the last 30 years, the Queen even started paying taxes! I suggest you research the matter before commenting!
That's not compassion, that's manipulated marketing. There's a reason the Royal Family follows a certain schedule, their interest is to preserve England's tradition, and most of that takes more than taking a few publicity pictures for 4 days. Theatrically hug somebody is not really charity work.
@Durio reece the family made him marry Diana even tho he clearly showed from the beginning that he didn't want to, the family didn't want Camilla because she already had been married and had children, they wanted a wife who was young and a virgin. Both were the victim and used by the royal family, however it is obvious that Diana was more affected by it, she was very innocent which is not always the best thing especially in this case.
That was about the most intense verbal and psychological abuse I've ever seen. If this kind of conversation really happened, my sympathy for Diana just increased 10 fold. Seriously... Have you actually seen the series? Charles didn't want to marry Diana.... He was literally forced into it by his family. He made it clear from the beginning that he loved Camilla. What do you have against him? He is as much a victim of the relationship as Diana. You simply can´t force love. If anything you should feel sorry for both of them.
I can never stop watching this scene. It's catches me every single time with how incredible and tense this scene is. The acting is perfect and everything about this clip is just pure perfection.
Charles neither deserved his wife, Diana, nor the two amazing sons that she gave him. I cant believe that he wasn't taking Harry's calls for a period of time. I cant imagine what he must have felt like growing up as he began to learn about his parent's history as he seems to be the more emotionally attuned brother.
You are right and Harry saw through the same crap his mother went through when he married. I think Harry will become just as popular as his mom when people realize the full scope of how badly he was treated. The truth has a way of coming out. They got one son who will be king to be just like Charles! Maybe it's time to disband the royal family, they can't or won't take care of their own.
Lyrics: [1st verse:] I hug who I want to. I hug who I love. Particularly, when they are affected by the selfishness of others and need cheering up. [Bridge:] Who are you referring to? Camilla. Why would I care about her? [1st chorus:] Because I care about her! Morning, noon and night I care about her! And you hurt her. And if you hurt her, you hurt me. [2nd verse:] Camilla is who I want. That is where my loyalties lie, that is who my priority is. [Bridge:] Not the mother of your children? Don't bring the boys into this! Alright. Not the woman you married?! [2nd chorus:] I refuse to be blamed any longer for this grotesque misalliance! I wash my hands of it! [Outro:] If you have a complaint about Not being loved Or appreciated in this marriage, I suggest you take it up with the people who arranged it.
Charles refuses to take any responsibility for the "grotesque misalliance" even though it's primarily his fault. Yes, his family supported his marriage to Diana. But they didn't pick her for him. He was the one who picked her, he proposed to her, he told her before their wedding that she shouldn't worry about Camilla, because it's over between them. Dickie told him in his last letter that he should choose someone "who knows the rules and will follow the rules". Instead, he chose a naive young girl who thought that a royal marriage will be a love-match. It's on him.
There is an old saying in our language "wound on tongue heals fastest but wound by tongue hurt worst and never heal" this is the prime example of hurt caused by tongue.
“you barely find it in yourselves to hug your own” AND THATS THE REAL TEA!! Remember that season he went to Ireland to his professors house and he saw the mom reading to her son at bedtime & he looked hurt. I never really had sympathy for Charles, but over time I have come to understand his predicament a little bit more. Imagine you’re forced to marry someone when your heart lies elsewhere. That doesn’t take away from the fact that Diana was a beautiful human. Sadly, they were ill-fated from the start. Marriages and relationships should never be forced.
Gosh how I wanted to punch Charles. I mean, they're both victims of the same system... He had no right to treat her like that.
The queen and the family are lovely, you guys just don't get that this is a DRAMA SERIES, with EXAGGERATED SCENES, and INCORRECT DIALOGUE. Most of these scenes NEVER, EVER HAPPENED. the crown is an oversimplified, exaggerated view of the monarchy and the royal family, and shouldn't be taken seriously, even the British government got close to banning it because it was so incorrect.

@Nathan Sfendji the Royal family brings in far more money in tourism than they use! They bring in millions of pound to the economy through the fashion industry every year because of the clothes they wear! Most of their money comes from their land. That's not compassion, that's manipulated marketing. There's a reason the Royal Family follows a certain schedule, their interest is to preserve England's tradition, and most of that takes more than taking a few publicity pictures for 4 days.

My fav scene in the whole show, superbly taken and acted by both.

Thanks, sometimes I don't understand what they're saying...😅
Their accent makes it difficult.
Dickie told him in his last letter that he should choose someone "who knows the rules
and will follow the rules". Instead, he chose a naive young girl who thought that a royal marriage will be a love-match. It's on him.
Once I read in a magazine that was Camilla who choose Diana and recomended Charles to marry her because of her naivness and unexperience

“you barely find it in yourselves to hug your own” AND THATS THE REAL TEA!! Remember that season he went to Ireland to his professors house and he saw the mom reading to her son at bedtime & he looked hurt. Elizabeth and Charles were not affectionate parents & constantly held up a façade that the world can clearly see through. Diana on the other hand was extremely affectionate and loved people so they couldn’t help but respond back to her. And that’s why he’s upset. He does not know how to give affection because he never got it.

Royalists like to discredit this show by calling it fictional.
