@@LukeWatson99 well I'm not entirely sure if this really never happened, but I'd say it would be more appropriate to give this the benefit of the doubt. Saying something never ever happened without being completely sure is discrediting.
Of course the government might want to ban it; it is insulting to the royal family, after all. You can't trust any statement they make to rectify this either. Prince Charles had an affair and a Netflix series will be made to haunt him.
Though I would say that the line Barbara referred to shouldn't be used in this scene, as Diana used it in a public speech, and is unlikely to have used it in private, since 1) she means it nicely 2) she probably wouldn't use the name of God to insult somebody, as it seems not to fit her image 3) the line is too well-written to be said in the spur of the moment. This scene uses a variant to suggest she may have adapted this arguement into her speech.
If the British government wants to ban something, they should ban The Windsors. That show has no class & is even more insulting to the royal family

The reason Charles didn't marry Camilla first was because he knew if he married a divorcee that he would lose the crown. This dude really went after a little kid who fitted his mom's standards and then tortured her so he could keep his mistress AND the crown. He never loved Camilla enough to give up the crown for her but also gave a young, young girl eating disorders,mental health problems among other horrid things just because he was too selfish.Queen too. Camilla was not married/divorced when she first met Charles (1971). He went off with the Royal Navy (1973) they broke up and she married APB (1973) who she didn’t divorce until 1995.

Emma did such a lovely job with this role, she embodied it wholly, you can tell it meant a lot to her. the mannerisms are on point, she clearly took time to study Diana, and it payed off tremendously, she truly embodied the way we feel about Diana, and why she touches our heart, hats off to her and all the other amazing actors in this lovely show, truly!

I never really had sympathy for Charles, but over time I have come to understand his predicament a little bit more. Imagine you’re forced to marry someone when your heart lies elsewhere. That doesn’t take away from the fact that Diana was a beautiful human. Sadly, they were ill-fated from the start. Marriages and relationships should never be forced.
The show doesn’t shy away from the cruelty of the character but also gives a perspective on why he is like that. Whether accurate or not even as a piece of fiction the build up to this scene is superbly done.
All this can do is give us a little insight to him. That he is a human being who like so many people are deeply flawed and have to live with the reminder of their mistakes. Even if things got better for him and Camilia, people don't forget how they came to be. Even if people have come to accept Camlia, they don't forget, even if history does. They have to live with their actions. That's what it means to be human, crown or no.

I'm not a huge fan of Charles, but even before they were married it was obvious that he did not love D and was doing so for the sake of the monarchy, since he originally wanted to marry C but was denied doing so because it was deemed inproper. The man was clearly miserable in that union. And he couldn't even divorce without permission. What he did was not ethical, but ome can't truly blame him. His one true love was C from the beginning. The astounding thing here is that in the end, he chose love over self gain and convenience, which isn't something a lot of people would do. 🤔

I have a very high respect for The Royal Family and Her Majesty. My comment was directed to the fictitious depictions of The Royal and the actors performances. Poor Diana, it is terrible to think what she had to endure. Not to be loved by the person she loved and also had to suffer the humiliation and betrayal of Carlo. No woman should ever go through such bad things. Diana would have been a perfect queen, loved by the people, how not to love her

I usually remember the line "because I care about her! Morning, noon and night I care about her!" and think that it is that line that shows Charles's real interests. But the choice of words for the line you quoted... Such a brilliant way for the writers to show us that for Charles this marriage was just paperwork. He didn't even feel sorry for Diana, nor did he feel identified with her for being in a loveless marriage. There was no empathy there.
I can accept the fact that Charles doesn’t love Diana because love cannot be forced. But it is Charles’ abuse, hatred and malicious attitude toward her that I cannot bear, which is also why I think this is the most repulsive scene in the whole TV series. Charles lacks the very basic respect towards another person. You cannot just show respect to people you love.

@@glen7318 well he used to be critical of Diana's weight in real life as a way to undermine her and he also was absent a lot in emotional points. Whenever she would cry before events because of the stress he would be critical of her as being weak. An the queen was also useless because she never wanted to be an actual mother to Charles or sympathetic towards the situation they were in. That's all documented, and they dramatized it, but honestly Charles was worse than what the show expressed.
It might be dramatised but this show portrays the royals as they are, people. Flawed, imperfect but fantastic characters

Dominic West was a bad casting choice in season 5-6, not only because he doesn't look enough like Charles but also because he didn't adopt his expressions and postures like Josh O Connor did here, this guy outshined the rest of the casting in season 3-4
He’s alive && was allowed to marry the “love of his life” the woman he cheated on his wife with with no repercussions (unlike his uncle who had to give up his throne for marrying a divorcée)
While Diana passed away tragically, after battling eating disorders and a marriage with a man who barely even cared for her

Camilla and Charles' relationship first started in the early 70s. Long before Diana came into the picture. There was just no way at the time the couple was destined to be married:
1) Charles had military duties and was away in the early 70s. Camilla did not wait for him and married another dude.
2) The Royal Family didn't approve of Camilla and her background. The Spencers were way more well known and aristocratic.
3) It just wasn't acceptable to marry way way beneath you for that time. Not saying Kate and Meghan are poor but they are not exactly descendants of dukes/barons/or other aristocratic families. It's just more understanding and accepted in the 21st century. Hell Edward the 8th would not have to abdicate in the modern British monarchy.
**So it's a tragic love story. Guy lost the love of his love. Forced to marry someone he didn't. In turn, Diana lost out of her life because she wanted to do so much. She got married at 20 and had a child by 21. She was forced to live in a world and society that caged her up. A lot of this could have been avoided if Camilla and Charles were allowed to be together in the first place. But then again...history would be changed.

Charles neither deserved his wife, Diana, nor the two amazing sons that she gave him. I cant believe that he wasn't taking Harry's calls for a period of time. I cant imagine what he must have felt like growing up as he began to learn about his parent's history as he seems to be the more emotionally attuned brother.
You are right and Harry saw through the same crap his mother went through when he married. I think Harry will become just as popular as his mom when people realize the full scope of how badly he was treated. The truth has a way of coming out. They got one son who will be king to be just like Charles! Maybe it's time to disband the royal family, they can't or won't take care of their own.
