Hey! This is an awesome video! Thank You! I haven't been to NYC in like 10 years or so... My wife is going down to DC Union Station to visit our son and wife in Silver Spring... I'll be taking LIRR from CI into Penn and then seeing her off at Moynihan Train Hall... I'm totally unfamiliar with the whole process. Thanks for the video! So I guess I'm coming into Penn Station and making my way to 8th Ave? We're both in our 70s... Is there a lot of walking?
If you’re taking the LIRR to Penn Station and depending on what track you come in at, you don’t have to walk far. Just look for signs that will direct you to the Moynihan Train Hall. All Amtrak trains departs from the train hall, you’ll see big departure boards that will show you the train information. If you need help, an Amtrak personal will be able to assist you and if you have a lot of luggage, they will help you to your train.
@zacattack2248 So, technically we're heading into Penn from Long Island... Penn is under MSG. We then take an escalator up? so that we can come out and cross over 8th Ave to Moynihan Train station to get on Amtrak? Or do we stay underground and come up in Moynihan Train station? Also, she's going solo on this trip and has never done this before. Will I be able to see her off all the way down by the Amtrak train door right before she gets on? This is a economy seat... I see that you walked quite a way down the side of the train before boarding. Is that because your just looking through the train windows until you see open seats? Sorry for all the questions... I just want this to be a "calm" experience for both of us... Oh yeah... After I see her off I guess I'm walking back to Penn to board the LIRR to eastern Long Island? Meaning I can't board the LIRR from Moynihan?@@ZacVenture2248
@@sinsagoodmansbrother the train platforms are really long so just stay underground and follow signs for the train hall. Don’t exit into the old Penn Station. If your LIRR trains arrives between tracks 17-21 use the stairs or elevator that go to the underground concourse with the sky blue lights on the ceiling. There’s a direct access to the train hall from that concourse. Even better, if your LIRR train arrives on tracks 15-16, follow the platform to the doors with escalators leading up to the train hall. For reference watch my recent Amtrak video of going to New York and skip to where I arrive at Penn Station, that should help you. Amtrak does allow you to take family members to their train, as long as you don’t board the train you’ll be fine going to the platform to see her off. If you’re worried, just ask one of the Amtrak employees. Once her train leaves, you will have to exit to the Train Hall or the underground concourse and find your LIRR train home. LIRR uses tracks 15-21 at Penn Station, just go to your train when it’s time board. I wish you good luck.
Wow! You are a wealth of information! Thanks again for 1) The Video!.. 2) All the specific details & 3) taking the time to write it and answer all my questions! Thank you! @@ZacVenture2248
I like this video, cool to see how you got to Penn Station. Also, are you like, riding your luggage? At first I thought you were just a swift walker but then I got a glimpse of you in the window reflection and could have sworn I saw you step off of a luggage bag lol
This ticket price of $253 is for round trip, I got this ticket a month in advance. The prices can very depending on what day you want to leave. $253 is a pretty good price to go to New York and back to Washington.
Will be heading to New York in July then off to Washington, I cannot wait.
Great video looks good
Excellent! Amtrak should pay you for doing this public service!!
Nice Video!
Me encanta el mundo del ferrocarril gracias saludos desde Santiago de cuba Rey
Moynihan Train Hall looks so much nicer than the dingy dark corners of Penn Station plus it's easier to navigate.

Hello. How far in advance do you announce the boarding gate? Greetings
They call the track number 15 minutes before the departure time.
Could have started at Penn St
I know, but I wanted to make it a little more fun for the viewers. Next time I’ll start at the point of where the video is about
