First of all, I fully agree with @prairiedogs001 about the background music, so fitting. Secondly, beautiful pen! Wish we could get deer antlers in South Africa! Glad I discovered your channel!
I already do a degree of stabilizing by saturating the antler with CA glue. Depends on amount of porosity. I have seen others using dye for antlers and it works. I'm just not sure how the color holds up with time or how deep the dye would soak in. Some dyes fade with time. Acrylic ink might be another option for coloring antler. Some use oil-based paint but it takes forever to dry.
Man, can I buy one of those antler pens? My grand daddy had one identical, unfortunately my aunt cleaned his stuff out when he passed away and it had tremendous sentimental value to me, having one like that would mean the absolute world to me, please advise if you sell them, or maybe you'd want to custom make one if I order one? Lemme know! Cheers.
Thanks for reaching out! I'm not really setup to mass produce these, but I'd consider making you one as a special order. You can find my email in the About section if you want to reach out to me via email.
Of all pen kits that I have made this one was the most problematic as far as the ball point kit. I made a bunch of these and was only able to sell one of them. I might try the roller ball or fountain pen kits next time.
Four Oaks Crafts after putting the kit together the mechanism was very crunchy. Wasn't smooth. The pieces were not fitting correctly. I can't remember all the issues but I made them like 3-4 years ago. I love the idea of the kit and hopefully they improved them since then.
@@ctl31820 I seemed to remember the first two I made many years ago had some problems. But the ones I've made lately, seem to go together pretty smoothly and the twist mechanism seems to be very smooth. Maybe they've worked out the bugs.
Super nice. Hope and Faith.
Thanks so much for the comment! I love these pen kits and they make nice gifts.
A unique ministry. 👍

Very pretty!
Thank you!
What are your thoughts on stabilizing or dying the antler before turning?

What is your source for these particular pen kits, please. Thank you very much!
I buy them from Pen State Industries. I order them online.
I turn mine with Honky Tonk music in the back ground.
Sounds like fun!

Thanks for the comment! What kind of problems were you having?

Is the deer antler not super porous??
Sometimes they are. It varies from antler to antler and what part of the antler you use. If it is porous, I'll use thin superglue to fill the pores.
