Not the best video this guys but I didn’t want to waste the footage so I’ve patched together a weekly EP, and I really wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year! And most of all a huge thank you to everyone! For your amazing support with the channel! Our first year has been amazing with now over 30k subscribers and over 2 million views for 2024! Which isn’t possible with you lot! So thank you very much, all the best to everyone! 🙏
@@sprautos Nothing wrong with this video! I have (dare I say it) a car made in Munich but nonetheless love watching your content. All the best for 2025!
Thanks Sam. Merry Christmas mate. E class rear arm : it is what it is mate. Just bad luck for the customer but at the end of the day, best found and fixed than left and risk an accident
I drive sl350 2014 fantastic to be informed of potential costs regarding maintenance, relativly cheap to buy at auction but its the maintenance that you cant shrug off because these are very powerful cars and need to be maintained to maintain yr life simple.
As an owner for 8 happy years of a 2013, Mercedes C Class coupe 2.5 Diesel ❤️ I would like to thank you and all your staff for posting these very informative and interesting videos, I can relate very well to the customer problems, as with my father we ran a garage for over 30 years, they never learn lol. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and I wish you a healthy and prosperous new year.
Thanks Sam & guys Happy NY from all us Aussies who love your videos! You have saved me a lot of money with your tips and how to do things properly. (got an old 1980 SLC450 and a newer E220d wagon All Terrain) And love your wry sense of humour. Very like us aussies lol.
This video was a bit rough and ready. But, this is to be expected and you shouldn't be aiming for a , slick, glossy and fake production, in my opinion rough and ready is an excellent format. Great content and fab insight into SPR Autos business model which I hope will pay dividends in 2025, good luck and have a fantastic new year!
Fantastic channel really enjoyed making my way through the content looking forward to 2025.A good indy specialist is a god send, well done, all the best
Many thanks for a great year of videos. I’m seriously impressed with how fair and professional you and the team are when dealing with customers cars. Certainly, if you were closer, I’d be knocking on your door to look after my car. Although having had my car for 12 years without major issue, I watched your video on the S212 brake pipes rusting out and the next week mine sprung a leak - so I’m now super nervous every time I see you cover a 212 E class! You have however inspired me to switch from main dealer to a local independent. All the best for 2025.
The rear arm plastic cover on that 211 is something I would remove completely (even as a preventive move for the other side at this point) . Lots of Euro cars with that design low rear arm have the plastic cover and all it does is trap salt and water causing that rot. I removed them off the rear of my awd v50. I think the plastics are only best to be kept for year round warm climate people. Different ideas about this, but I've found a good undercarriage wash right after salt is still better than leaving the salt, if the design of the item is basic and doesn't have thin grooves or stamped pieces where you wold push the salt deeper into crevices
Merry Christmas all at SPR!! You are so amazing brother man, you work so hard for all of us viewers AND your clients. This holiday is for you and the boys(and the gals!)!!
Thanks Sam, love watching the content on this channel. It is very informative and gives a very honest view of the daily challenges for SPR. Looking forward to more content in the New Year.
I love this here is the problem you diagnose it and fix it not always to benefit your pocket but the customer's that's remarkable. I feel that if I had you as my mechanic I would still have my E55, too bad for me I live in Miami US. Happy New Year looking forward to more of your videos.
Hello thank you for another video. Really look forward to these. Nearly fell over when you said 50 quid. I still can’t believe Mercedes use Renault engines. No matter how many times I hear it.
Hi mate, I wish you and the team a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope that next year the Mercedes will continue to break down and this will allow you to progress and develop, of course it was a joke. Cheers mate.
That genuine arm price has rocketed in recent times. This just plays into the hands of aftermarket suppliers. Used to have to get them from germany but find the odd uk supplier now
It’s fun when the videos are not so slick, it feels like we are in the garage with you 😊. Hope you had a good Christmas and best wishes for 2025 from west coast Canada 🇨🇦.
12:06 my Snap on DMM (auto ranging) doesnt beep when set on continuity when the resistance is >30 ohms, caught me out once so i just use a normal resistance setting now rather than a 'bell test' , i also load test GP's.
Marry Christmas and Happy New Year to You and the team👊 Great year, next one will be even better. Hard work pays off and your approach to it, its amazing to see. All the best👍
Interesting re the G-wagen. In the mid 90s we bought a s/h low mileage one owner SWB 2.3 petrol engine model from a Merc main dealer with full secondhand warranty … fortunately! It was comfortable enough and drove OK but was the most unreliable car we ever owned. After 18 months I was scared that the warranty would run out leaving me with repair costs, so got rid of it. I liked your honest comments.
Merry Christmas to you and your lads in the work shop and thank your receptionist who was very knowledgeable and professional in providing providing part number for my clk430 water pump that I can get at Mercedes Benz dealership which she phoned me back to tell me.❤❤❤❤
£50! it’s one of those weird parts that you’d expect to be £200+. Yep I’ve driven a G wagon & you wanna drive fast but the seats don’t support you. Can’t beat the whole range of Tesa tape- far more sticky & durable than cheap stuff. Good episode- packed just not in-depth. Hope you have a good holiday!
Merry Xmas to all at SPR best honest videos out there 🎉one negative those low melt connections are prone to cracking better off with crimps and even manufactures use crimp happy new year 🎉
Another great video Sam...got my SPR T-shirt well made up with it 👍 Happy Christmas and New Year, and I can't wait for 2025s content ,we'll done The SPR team 👍
I read that all the small diesels, 1.3 petrols in A and Bs are modified Renault and have been using some Renault ones for 10+ years. Don't forget the X class is based on the Nissan/Renault Navara pickup . The latest versions were co-designed by MB, Renault and Nissan.
Just the Gwagon was worth the admission. Re the corroded arm your regular customers and now the viewers will know you are being straight with them. That's why your services are in demand. Have a happy new year.
Congrats on hitting your 30k subs target, and cheers for all the great content from you and your crew. All the best for 2025! Oh and any plans of adding the gilets to the merch store by any chance?
Re glow plugs and EML, some cars won't do a DPF regeneration if the glow plugs aren't working. I was just thinking today that there is no G Wagons on the channel, then here it is, magic. I didn't think the video was bad, the last video had some weird flickering going on.
Your right about a glow plug fault will stop a vehicle doing a regen. Yea we have been having a few camera issues we noticed during editing. We’re working on it.
Merry Christmas to you Sam and all the team and a happy new year , love watching the videos no matter what the content is as you give so many hints and tips , that lower arm on the back spring job , I’d say that the plastic cover would be the problem, holding all the moisture and salt etc , so is it really needed ? Keep up the great work 👏👏👏👏👍🙏❤️
That car with the rusted lower control arm. Is that plastic cover holding water in it up against the arm the cause of the rust? Happy Christmas and New Year to you and your family and employees. May Father Christmas be good to you! 😊
Merry Christmas! 9:17 Is the arm rotten because of water retained in the plastic cover? If so, would it help to make a little whole in the cover so that any water would be drained? Or are there other better ways to prevent the arm from rusting like that?
I cant work this out Eurocarparts myBmw E38 window regulator £312 then i went on line Eurocarparts £29,00 so i bought it and it packed up in 4 months .
Why oh why do people not clear leaves off the scuttle panel?! It’s a pet hate of mine. Also I spotted leaves inside the wheel arch after you removed the cover. How the hell did they get in there. Crap design? Those leaves will rot and create a right mess in there.

I used to repair the front and rear SAM units, but got sick of the water ingress issues, now I just repair unobtainium per 90's Merc electronics.
Thank you! All the best guys 💪!
A very good video, Sam!
Have a great Xmas / New Year break - and THANKS for producing great content.
I look forward to more videos next year.
Thanks Sam plus all your team, for all your efforts this year, really looking forward to 2025 👍
Replace with original MB parts, that's why you bought the car in the first place, it's a Merc. Good video as usual.

Great, a late Christmas present in the form of an unexpected SPR video 😊. Hope that you all have a nice break.

Keep up the great work 👏👏👏👏👍🙏❤️
I let my bottom arm rot out on my E class, not a good move as it let go with a bang!! wheel hit the wing as well !!
Great Channel, keep up the great videos in 2025. I wish you could fix my BMW Cyl3 misfire!
That was a great price for the regulator, i’ve just paid £62 for my Fabia regulator🤪
Would it be helpful to check the other rear arm and spring as well for wear and repair ?
Yea we pulled the cover off the other side to inspect while we were in there
merry christmas
That car with the rusted lower control arm. Is that plastic cover holding water in it up against the arm the cause of the rust?
Happy Christmas and New Year to you and your family and employees.
May Father Christmas be good to you! 😊
An unexpected Xmas present 🎁 ☺️ ✨️ 😄 😊
Brilliant video. What's your thoughts about the ssangyong cars with the Mercedes engine.
Wished I lived closer I love cars I would love to work with you mate
Your weakly updates are brilliant going from 1 gob to next, how on earth have them leafs got behind wheel splash guard on W212 ?
Enjoy the holiday, see you in 2025. Greetings from Holland.
When are you doing QandA Sam?? Happy Christmas to you and gang.
Hopefully first video in the new year 🤞🏻
Merry Christmas!
9:17 Is the arm rotten because of water retained in the plastic cover?
If so, would it help to make a little whole in the cover so that any water would be drained?
Or are there other better ways to prevent the arm from rusting like that?
I thought the exact same thing. What a crap design! It actively causes rusting, would be much better not having it there at all.
Who's the oem supplier for those Mercedes bottom arms.
Only driven a 91/92 swb G, much better than equivalent age swb LR Defender, definitely wouldn't have called it luxury compared to present Gs though 😁.
Looking forward to next year. 😅
Can i ask in regards to harmful emissions, how do you counteract airflow within the shop when having to run cars for long periods of time?
I cant work this out Eurocarparts myBmw E38 window regulator £312 then i went on line Eurocarparts £29,00 so i bought it and it packed up in 4 months .
Re the siren situation, could you just do away with it and link the wires to the horn ?
He could be "Shirt-Lifter -Luke"!
Why oh why do people not clear leaves off the scuttle panel?! It’s a pet hate of mine. Also I spotted leaves inside the wheel arch after you removed the cover. How the hell did they get in there. Crap design? Those leaves will rot and create a right mess in there.
Weird how some customers blame the mechanic for problems they discover with their older car.
